Thank You Speedbump for observing me at sporting and yes I am. Every year I go to sporting events and every year I volunteer to the Special Olympics I try to encourage. Yes everyone gets a ribbon, and everyone is treated as a winner. Try it sometime. It has brought me much joy and pleasure to see the kids and adults doing there best.
There is no greater calling than so serve your brothers. There is no greater satisfaction than to do it well.

Special Olympics are different. But I stand by my original thought that the erosion of excellance and what made this country great is due to the sissification of sporing events. If everyone gets a medal, what is the motivation to excell? If you aren't ashamed to finish last, you will never get better.
Now, back to the original topic of hating on the Swindell family. I contend that if Sammy was offended at being called a D-bag, he wouldn't keep acting like a D-Bag. Same with his kid.

He doesn't have the &%^^*)(^ to tell those words to Sammy's face I feel quite certain of that. Nice to hide behind the puter board!

You'd be surprised. If it's in print, he'll back up whatever he says to whomever he offends. Saw it happen at Canyon last year firsthand. Kevin's got a lot of friends in the business and most certainly knows everyone it seems from car owners to drivers to promoters. Saw multiple drivers come up to him and shoot the shit with him while I was bending his ear about the night's racing. He isn't going to have everyone 100% on his side because that isn't how life works. Respect the man for having the guts to put pen to paper and let everyone know how he feels about the situation, and respect the guy because he's never done a thing to any of you personally. It's your choice to let it go or perpetuate the hatred, however misguided it may be, because he said something about a guy you like watching go in circles. There are plenty of people involved with racing trying to keep sponsors happy and trying to keep the status quo. They are either too scared or too politically correct to do what Kevin does. Kevin's from a different mold, and I guarantee you he wants it that way. Until he spits on my kid or slaps my wife, I'm going to continue reading his stuff because it's entertaining as hell. - Ron

anyone who has been to lots of sprint car races the last 20 years and goes to parties around them and to the pits has bumped into Kevin, most who make the living or spend thousands around those races know kevins face, I would find it hard to beleive that the Swindell family does not know exactly who he is and probably have had words with him in the past and likely will in the future, the true sprint car family is not that large, I have been surprised more than once that racers and crew either remembered my face or know my name from different message boards over the years. Noe my thoughts on Sammy, his personality of often horrible, (one good friend of mine is also hard to deal with) but he is no doubt one of the best drivers, perhaps the best engineer, incredible mechanic the sport has ever seen

If we limit what we read by the moral standards of the author ... the reading list would get short in a hurry ! Im sure u can fill in the blanks with some literary greats with questionable backgrounds or ethics. Kevins writing entertains me , ill keep reading.
Signed. ....
An avid Sammy fan.
