I like Craig and wish him the best, but the facts are that there are more capable drivers than there are top notch rides.

Drivers that are CAPABLE of running up front on the Outlaw tour but weren't even out on the tour the past few years:

Lasoski - hasn't had a big-time ride since Roth after his split with TSR.  Can probably still run up front a majority of the time, but unless someone gives him $1,000,000 to start a team, doubt you'll see him back out there anytime soon

McCarl - no full-time gig since parting ways with Big Game.  Still capable, but is obviously smart enough to know he doesn't have the budget to go out there currently

Shane Stewart (ride-hopped for the better part of the last 4-5 years, but still is a WINNER, be interesting to see how he does in the Larson/Marks Racing car)

Jason Johnson (maybe one of these days, but currently, he can make more $$$ running 360's)

Wayne Johnson (given the right budget and TIME it requires, I have no doubt he could run up front)

Tim Kaeding (going out in 2014, but hasn't been a "full-time" traveler since the NST)

Paul McMahon (wasn't out there for a few seasons until he hooked up with the 51 team full-time last year)

Stevie Smith (doesn't even race "full-time" in PA as most of the owners don't want to race handicap shows anymore)

Daryn Pittman (wasn't out there for 4 full seasons after the Titan Garages Team folded - took 4 years to land a good ride with KKR to be out there)

Cars available:

none

Full-time teams following the Outlaws

KKR 9 - Pittman

KKR4 - Darrah

TSR 11 - S. Kinser

TSR 15 - Schatz

Sides 7s - Sides

Big Game 1 - Swindell

CJB 51 - McMahon

Motter 71m - Saldana

Keneric 29 - Madsen

?? is, who gets displaced in one of those rides in order for Dollansky to get a ride?

KKR drivers?  Nope, Dollansky already drove for them once.

TSR -- will Tony even have a 2nd car after Steve retires??

Sides - he's not gonna fire himself.

Quiring - he just left Quiring (or whatever happened between them).

CJB 51 - McMahon finished 3rd in points their first year out, no way they replace him.

Motter 71m - Joey finished 4th in points with a new team built from scratch in 40 days - no way they replace him.

Keneric 29 - Australia based team with an Australian driver - don't see a change there for a few years unless something major happens

Roth 83 - Kaeding is a good fit and they win races (which is what Dennis Roth cares about).

Brad sweet is scheduled to race fulltime with the outlaws this year. Either he cannot get a nationwide ride or cannot bring the money so he is racing with the outlaws.

the woo-zer field keeps diminishing, year after year!  pretty obvious where they are headed..

Right now I could at least 13 guys that are signed up full time, that seems to be the same amount as its been for quite some time, maybe even a little better and the # that even the WRG admits is right in the area of the amount of Platinum guys they think makes the thing work right.

The demise of the WoO has been predicted for many years, yet every year comes and goes and the series is back? I'm actually excited for the coming season, seems like some new faces that could mix it up abit.

I meant to say Count, not "could" in the first sentence. I don't know what got changed on this site when they redid it but I hate that I can't edit my post any longer!

The demise of the WoO has been predicted by NWFan for at least the last 5 years. I assume he's doing it for laughs at this point.

In the future it wont matter anyhow ! The best will just stay in Pa. to try and beat the best there is ! Doesnt it seem senseless anyway to spend millions to travel around the country beating up on lack luster competition  when u could just set up camp in Pa . I hear thats where the REAL racers are!

YAWN!

The closest I can come to providing any fodder to this discussion is that the subject came up at the UMSS banquet on Saturday night and somebody said they say Craig pulling his snowmobile trailer.  Most everyone in the Sprint Car circles up this way know him and nobody has heard anything (that they're telling us) so whatever is going on is still in the works.

It hasn't come up in this thread so I'll remind everyone that Craig owned his team and when he teamed up with QuiringTodd took over ownership of Craig's racing team.  Craig was running his own deal for quite a few years and he lined up many of the sponsors himself.  Beyond that I'll wait for some kind of announcement or see what he shows up with in Florida.

It's a sign of the times we're living in that many former Outlaw drivers are running with other series or some kind of local hit and miss schedule.  McCarl, Lasoski, Haudenschild, Tatnell, just to name a few quickly off the top of my head.  Ten years ago these guys all had full time rides but that is no longer a sure thing.  I'm not going to pencil Craig into that list until we hear it from him.

Craig is no nonsense and always very business like in all his dealings with the public and media.  I think that has given him an edge in dealing with potential sponsors so I hope that continues.  I wish all of these guys success because driving a Sprint Car isn't exactly the most secure way to make a living for the long haul.  They have to put groceries on the table and pay mortgages and insurance and deal with family issues just like the rest of us.  There is no retirement and a career can end in the blink of an eye.

We are all forgeting one other important detail... What if there is a family reason he isnt running? No one knows the answer for sure! I have emailed Julie a few times and have not gotten an answer... I hope he is on the tour, and I think he DESERVES a ride, but we dont know the situation behind the scene right?

Good point! Steve Kinser is STILL the biggest draw in the WOO, with Sammy a close second. I wonder what wiil happen to not only the WOO but Sprint Car racing once both of them are retired?

Why is there always so much hate for the World of Outlaws?? I don't get it at all, they offer a purse that pays more than most weekly shows when they come to down (yes i know there are a few 6k shows during the week) but mostly they pay 10grand to win each race if not more. I believe that is more than a Williams Grove, Lincoln, Port Royal, Cali, Knoxville, etc. Yes I know that they travel great distances the entire year but the system is not intended to have more than 10-12cars really. It allows the local drivers/drivers around the area to come and race for a purse that not too many tracks and promoters can't offer. Whenever I go to a WoO show the stands are lot more packed than any other show and it looks like the schedule seems to stay consistent year to year so they must be attractive for the promoters to keep them. 410 sprint car racing needs some sort of national series in order to survive, like it or not.

Face it, when Sammy and Steve retire, the Outlaws are done.  No doubt.  Just like the NBA will be done as soon as Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Michael Jordan retire.

The WOO haters are primarily PA Posse fans. Most of them don't actually "hate" the WOO, they are just passionate fans who take a lot of pride in supporting thier local racers. The only PA Fans who HATE the WOO are the idiots on Beer hill who cheer when one of the WOO guys get hurt.

Hater's a strong word, most PA fans respect the WoO drivers a lot, that's what makes beating them special when it happens.  I enjoy following them like fans from the other 49 states.  Don't get me wrong, there are still idiots, but they're closer to drunks than fans (nothing against drinking, do it all the time myself).  As for the demise of the WoO, I'd argue they are presenting the deepest field EVER across the board in 2014, if Dollansky was on board I'd take arguably out of the sentence. 14 full time drivers, and 12 of them are proven multi-time WoO winners.  I'm not sure the payout can support that many cars for a season, it will be interesting to see.  When drivers that count on top 5 money are only getting top 10 money, over the course of a weeks and months, it might make a difference.

Yes i believe they are very passionate . At least when it comes to  "talking" about supportting  their local racers.  It seems thats as far as it goes.  Given the chance to put up or shut up , they choose silence ... or name calling.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.. And major League Baseball is toast once Babe Ruth and Joe Dimaggio retire... and I really feel sorry for all the people whos tax dollars have been used to build football stadiums in their area... because as soon as Favre and Peyton Manning retire the NFL will be nothing more special than intramural college touch football between frat houses.

Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the

torque is how far you move the wall.

So, see you at the ice breaker in a month?  Lincoln will be packed to a level most tracks would need the WoO in July to accomplish and the teams selling t shirts, etc will be running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to collect all the money from fans.  Sprint car racing 10 months out of the year, 3 tracks running full fields weekly with Selinsgroves 360s as the 4th.  Get over yourself, the fans give more financial support than you can fathom.
