Correct me if I'm wrong but in the stock car world the Daytona 500 is the biggest race of them all. So to find a race in the sprint car world that would be equivalent it would obviously be the Knoxville Nationals. Now if Freddie had won in his last attempt at Knoxville, that would've been a Dale Sr. type Cinderella story in my opinion. What he pulled off at the Grove was still incredible but that race doesnt have near the weight of the Knoxville Nationals.

Well if Jack Gunn would've had his way years ago the National Open Would've been bigger than Knoxville and the Hall Of Fame would be right here in PA, but it didn't......... Anyways Fred has wanted the to Win the National Open for 28 years, came close a bunch of times and Finially did it on try 28 his last try at it and wins. So to him winning the National Open was like Dale Sr. winning the Daytona 500 is what I was getting at.

picky, picky, picky.....

Everyone knows Posse rules home turf but is so-so on the road. Freddy's a Pa. racer, he won the biggest Pa. race for the 1st time in his long career, along with 3 track championships (or was it 2?) Fitting ending!.... for a "washed up, non driving SOB".....

For Freddy winning the Open it was the equivilant.  Posse members really don't go to Knoxville with the expectation to win. With all the money, making the show is probably more their goal for the weekend.  This is why a lot of them travel back home after a poor qualifying night.  But, the Open is a completely different story.  The Posse guys race that track every week and expect to win when the Outlaws role into town.  There was a long streak for like 4 years in which they did just that.  I've seen Outlaw results at the Grove in which Posse filled the top 5.  Knoxville typically has 1 -3 guys max that can win an Outlaw race and 1 regular every year that truely has a shot at winning the Nationals.  Dude for a while, Terry, whatever accomplished Aussie that has put up residency in Knoxville,  maybe for a time and if you want to call him a regular, Brown now.  Dobmeier, Heskin, Zomer, Bronson all probably expect to make the show but do they really expect to have a shot to win the Nationals, probably not.  Realistically there are probably only 5 guys a year that can go in and expect to win. Probably another 3-4 that realize they have a shot come saturday night.

With all of this being said, there are at least 20 guys who show up to the Grove every Outlaw show that know they have a shot.  Expecting Posse guys to go to the Nationals and win on a track they only see once a year is quite a tall order.

thought the 2nd week was so much better.. Great Coverage love the arial shots

I loved the aerial shots as well - still trying to figure out what they used to get them? Didn't seem like a helicopter. Those who were there, what did they have in the air?

Brad Doty, you the best! Loved your explanation of how the car wants to turn when coming off the turns. Great production. Beautiful in HD!

They used a remote control helicopter with a Go Pro.  There was a little more to it than that, but that is the basic concept. It was neat watching it move around as it positioned for diffferent angles.  It was pretty fast too.

Fitting ending for a Living LEGEND who owns unprecedented 87 wins at the track. WOW.....3 Championships lol. Should I even bother, You have no clue, your worse than MSPN. 25 Championships, over 500 wins in sprint cars and mods.

Thoughts anyone so far of the coverage?

Yeah.  My thoughts are that they should have put it on a channel that more people have in their cable/satellite package.  I've already got plenty of sports channels including NFL, ESPN, ESPN2, FSN for Wild games, and a host of others.  To upgrade to CBS Sports is cost prohibitive and based on the past WoO broadcast record not a good gamble until we see if this new marriage lasts past a few shows.  I've got a pretty extensive channel lineup so it's rediculous that CBS Sports can't be included.  We're cutting expenses to prepare for my retirement in a few years so adding a couple dozen worthless channels to get a half hour WoO broadcast isn't an option at this time.

Henry What Fast Freddie pulled off was larger than both of those races combined. Of the over 500 career wins this man has, this has to be the biggest, All the Tuscarora 50's, the 2 at Knoxville rank far far far below this. The 12 consecutive at Lincoln, I could go on for hours and hours. The man just pulled off The Daytona 500 of sprint car racing just before retiring. Give the man the trophy and a Coors Light. To hell with the check, give it to charity or MSPN im sure he needs it. Cinderella story times a million. Let him enjoy this and let the outlaws have a little bit of a break. It wont be long untill Little Freddie is pulling off WoO @ss beatings.

I figured it must have been something like that cause I didn't figure their budget would allow for much bigger remote controlled type unit, but I was very impressed with how good and steady their shots were they got with it. Whoever was running it obviously knew what they were doing.

Kudo's on the broadcast to everyone, Very good and hopefully many more to come. If this works and next year the Outlaws broadcast more and hopefully some live shows, and Knoxville broadcasting their weekly shows on MAV, well the future is brightening up again for the sport and for the money that could be possible in sponsorships for teams and promoters. Excellent

I though the coverage was great, and most importantly, I'm thankful there is any coverage and we have the privlige of seeing the races.

At Charlotte, a fella in the infield was flying a small radio controlled alien spacehip around that I assumed had a camera on it.  After getting home and wathing the show WG show, The arial shots there were very similar to what this appeared to be shooting.  It was not a helicpoter, but appeared to be a square shaped device (alien spaceship) that someone way smarter than me built.  It was neat to watch.

StanM I just canceled my expensive cable ( $194.00 a month ) and went to Dish network so I can get CBS Sports Network and also MAVTV. My cable company ( Midco ) doesn't even offer MAVTV.  Saving $$$$ and getting the 2 channels that have some dirt track racing.
