Can someone tell me the rule on courtesy laps? From our perspective it looked very inconsistent tonight. In the first 410 feature two drivers brought the caution out on separate occasions and didn't get any time in the work area yet in the 360 feature and the 2nd 410 feature they did. If I was Ian Madsen I would not have been happy. He was pushed VERY slowly back to the pit area and was given no time to attempt to get back out.

From my vantage point, Madsen could have entered the pit area on the back-stretch and been in the work area before the field was ready to go green. He obviously chose to be pushed all the way around the track and then turned right and stood on the brakes just as he got to the turn 4 entry to the pits (because the caution lights were turned off and he knew they were going green is my best guess as to why did that).
As far as I'm concerned, there should NEVER be any courtesy laps for someone that brings out the caution, if it wasn't for that car, the race would have stayed green flag. They shouldn't be rewarded with time to fix (or attempt to fix) their car for causing a break in the action (and many times ruining what is shaping up to be great racing for the lead).
The courtesy lap rules are in the rulebook and reiterated at every driver's meeting all year, if Ian (or his team) didn't know what they were, that is their own fault. From a fan perspective, I think Tony (or whoever is announcing) should go over courtesy laps during the first caution of the race so inform the fans what is going on (I think 99% of the time, the assume that everyone in the stands is aware of all the rules and regulations and attend the races regularly), especially for the first timers in attendance.

I agree that there were too many caution laps in the features but it was still a fantastic night of racing. Thank God I live so close to Knoxville. I can't wait to go back.

Id like the hour back of my life from the 360 feature. Everyone knew it was over when Garner went from sixth to the front after the first restart. I guess when you start every shit box that pulls in for the A-main, you are bound to have several mechanical failures. In all seriousness, Knoxville should consider implementing a timer for the 305 and 360 feature races. That was as close as I have ever been of walking out of a race before.
Has that Ball kid never raced on a dry slick track before? That was frankly, embarrassing and I felt awful for those involved in the wreck. It certainly set the tone for the rest of that marathon race.
Also Bill, you'll want to edit your post. June 13th date for the next race eh?

You are nuts. This was a rare exception on how long a 360 feature took. I guess your idea would be start 6 fastest time trials in a 5 lap feature and send every one else home so you can get your sleep sooner.
