If the outlaws go the A-R route.... There will be many nights of track rental throughout the summer in Knoxville by the TSR and KKR teams and about every other "Outlaw". They all will be at a huge disadvantage. Wouldn't be out of the question to see WRG rent the track for all of them one night. Cant have a bad showing at the Nationals, wouldn't look good for the sponsors!
Also, the rain outs dont count against the teams for the 75% attendance. 5 rain outs a year (not exactly a stretch) would make everyone exempt from the point fund at the end of the year.
The Nationals is not sanctioned by the WoO. They schedule it knowing that all their teams would be there anyways. This was brought up when Ted Johnson tried to flex his muscle in the late 90's with the weight rule. Knoxville made it very clear.
I am pretty sure if they scheduled a race against the Nationals you would have the guys that were out of the top 5 and those trying to get a traveling contract go. But the best of the best would be shooting for winners circle on Saturday night.
It will be interesting to see what Knoxville does for the regulars for the outlaw shows. Whether they help teams with the cost of the "other brand" or waive the 100 show up points. If not you will see quite a few guys in hot laps with Hoosiers! just to get their 100 points.

Real teams will buy new tires to run the nationals. Not a big deal and if they don't then too bad they wil disappoint their team owners sponsors and fans. They can cut back somewhere else or throw a 20 in the kitty starting today and have enough saved. Sounds like WoO promoter pissed so wants to go against Hoosier. Blah blah . Suck it up

Yes the 'REAL TEAMS' will have to buy new tires for the nationals. Since it will be Knoxville rules the 'REAL TEAMS' (not real sure what you mean by REAL but if you mean WoO) as the WRG has intent to go with a differed brand. the Nationals is not under WRG control. If you were referencing my comment about kville helping it's regulars when the WoO comes to town (let's face it, there most certainly will be an outlaw show or two at Knoxville) because I forsee 5 or maybe 10 guys shelling out the $800 for the other brand.

Wy do people think that if WOO is Am. racer and Knoxville is Hoosier, that the nationals would get no support from WOO. This hole idea is crazy. Teams that race at nationals alway buy new tires, what difference if the have to buy Hoosier. Please do not tell me that WOO teams will not know how to set cars up with Hoosier. Do you really think WOO of outlaw TEAMS will pass up a $900,000 purse over some tires. This deal is not done till it is done anyway.

I don't think anyone said that the Nationals would get no support from the WoO Teams, it just wouldn't be a sanctioned race.
For the WoO Teams, this is bad as they get tow $$$ for the Nationals as well currently (that would go away if the Nationals are un-sanctioned (which IMO it will be).
I don't think that any WoO TEAMS would pass up the Nationals unless the Outlaws hold a big $$ show somewhere else (Ted always used to say that he'd just run a race against the Nationals @ Texas Motor Speedway and have the same purse, so Cappy and the Fairboard would always fold and have it sanctioned.). Thus far, outside of Eldora or maybe Williams Grove, I don't see too many tracks putting up big $$$ even if they have the seating capacity to hold an event similar to the Nationals (Texas, Charlotte, Vegas).

If I was at another sprint car race during the Knoxville Nationals I would be pissed, because there's only one place to see a Nationals and we all know its Knoxville. The town the people the races you can't beat it.

I think it would be fantastic for the local guys to show up at the sanctioned woo event and do 2 things. (1) Hot lap and qualify on the Knoxville spec tire, whatever it may be..
(2) After qualifications are over... load up their cars and let the 12 to 16 outlaws have their show!
That way they all would get even show up points without having to spend the $$$$ on tires. The crowd would be able to see the woo stars without the locals getting in their way and supposedly holding them up! I know it probably will not happen, but damn it sure would be cool to see it happen!
