The night was so-so. It was good to see an underdog win the race. The 6 heat races were B-O-R-I-N-G! Every single one of them got strung out quickly and it was like watching 6 hot lap sessions. Enjoyed the night with friends though.

the blind draw was a bore, and it took to much time to do it. I saw alot of engine problems that teams can take care of before nationals. Alot of smoker engines, and do not know why.

One lap time trials, 6 heat races, 3 b mains and a feature. No red flags, barely any cautions...still was 11:30 leaving, wtf?

Great field of cars regardless of any drop outs for whatever reason. Good call also to tear the track up some before the feature. It would have gone rubber down in a few laps if not. Very nice to see one of our locals take the win. He did a great job holding off Shaffer when they got to traffic. Good win for a great young racer.
|
It went rubberdown anyways...only took 10 or 15 laps into it to start takin rubber...as opposed to leaving it and the rubber come in 5 laps into...really not impressed with the duncans track work this year and havent showed me anything to get too excited about for the big show this week...don't expect anything too racy this week as it hasn't been for 75% of the weekly shows this year

WoO14 your not impressed with the track prep. Not sure you have noticed but we have been a little dry this year, think they are calling it a drought. They have a tough job ahead of them to have a good track 4 days in a row and I really expect some rubber down races this year. If it doesn't take rubber in the 50 lapper on Saturday I will be surprised. Yeah it will suck but they normally do a pretty good job so I won't hammer on them over it in a drought year.

All this and no one raving about the only Ford out of 67 pieces passing more cars than any!
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

Would that be the ford that didnt make it out of its B main..... but got the "lucky dog award" when the 15 had "brake issues"???
and the fact that alot of the cars it "passed" were due to breakage?? just asking.

Yep, and I believe that would also be the Ford that timed 37th quick despite going fairly early before the track went away (Lasoski came out two cars after and put down the 2nd fastest lap of the night).

I think the Capitani Classic event is a mistake in retrospect. It watered down the Saturday event, took the USAC cars away from Knoxville, lowered the Front Row Challenge car count and while the field was great, the racing after 4 hard days was not up to Knoxville standards.
I'd go back to the 2011 format, but that's just me.

How did Sunday's race keep cars out of Monday's race?
You did not like 66 410's
You are hard to please

Like I said the field was great, racing was eh. Front row challenge car count was the lowest in recent memory, don't think they are unrelated.

Dang, these guys are not machines. The big dogs raced Bloomington, IN on Friday, Peavely MO on Sunday and Knoxville (some of them) on Sunday. If you are racing on Wed in the biggest race of the year it's nice to be sharp and rested going in, hence the Monday night off. This is more crew related than driver, they are among the hardest working people on the planet, they amaze me and NEVER get enough credit. Those guys RULE!!

Although I realize it wasn't a requirement to race the complete show, but you can't tell me that TSR doesn't have the funding to put together another car should Mr. Schatz have a misfortunate incident. This is the same BS that ruined the Race of States and the Mystery features years ago. If you come to race, race otherwise leave it loaded.........By the way, I sure hope Mr. Schatz doesn't have a motor misfortune that could have showed up tonight rather than his qualifying night...
|
By Schatz doing what he did, he knocked Larson out of the invert, McFadden to the B and Dobmeier out of the race of states. If you want to test then run the whole program or rent the track

i loved the format this year with the 410 show on sunday 67 410's for $20 HELL YA. but the racing was iffy at best. but still 67 410's i'll pay that all day instead of $35 for 25 outlaws with 10 being 360 field fillers. one thing i didnt like was the 305's on saturday for the same price as it was last year with 410's i'd much rather see the 360's getting there own deal adding 305's didnt add fans so why water the show down they dont do it to the 410's
