I had another experience with a Swindell I'll not forget soon!
I was at Portland Oregon 1/2 mile to do WoO coverage for Speedweek and/or RPM 2night in about 2000. I was walking into the track from the area where the motorhomes park overnight and found myself right in line with a couple who were so obviously Sammy's mom and dad. He looks and sounds JUST Like his Dad.
I had also had some earlier experiences with Jeff when he was on the west coast driving the Williams Bros Orange 11x for a season. We did an interview with Jeff then were walking down into the pits and he carried on in his usual verbal manner. . . . .
Anyway, while walking with Mr & Mrs Swindell in Oregon I asked Sammy's dad, "Did Sammy and Jeff grow up together in the same household?" He said, "yes" but didn't asked what the question was leading to. I then asked him, with his wife walking right beside him,
"How come you can't hardly get a word out of Sammy with a crowbar but Jeff talks like he was vacinated with a phonograph needle?" His immediate answer was, "Jeff takes after his mother!"

I saw Sammy at a donut shop in Carlisle one morning. He was very talkative and personable. Sprint car racing will never be the same without he and Steve. It will continue, but it won't be the same...hokey lived after Gretzky.

Here's what I've always wondered about Sammy and to a lesser degree Steve. How much money do u think they have socked away. I imagine Steve is more set financially than Sammy. Race purses are not all that great an tshirt sales are where the revenue is but are they millionaires? I'd be curious to hear someones thoughts
More weight, more regulation, more similarity in the
cars.... that will ensure plenty of thrills for years
to come. Only the most average talent behind the
wheel will be needed with such awesome equipment on
the track!

New Product that I am proposing on the TV Show Shark Tank, It's called Swindell in a Bottle...Just one bottle and you will instantly become Sammy Swindell....By drinking this drink you will inherit his skill, ability, stamina, passion and shortcomings..You will inherit his knowledge, demeanor, attitude and personality...Would you buy my product and invest in my company??

Casey Luna in a bottle would interest me more.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

I have this new idea too!!!! I call it an online forum. It will revolutionize the way sprint car fans interact. Imagine this. Any time your driver wins, you can go onto this "forum" and post any ridiculous comment about how he is the greatest thing to ever walk the earth. I'm not just talking a simple "congrats" or "that was one heck of a race". You can post whatever your little heart desires. Heck, you could even say your driver could beat Churck Norris in a staring contest (impossible). And get this... people will disagree with you (how dare they!!!). So then you can get into a pointless argument about who is best, who has no talent, and who wrecked who. Here is the kicker, no matter what your opinion is, somebody else can call you an idiot (and vise versa). I still have some kinks to work out, but I think it will sweep the sprint car nation!
What do you guys think? (insert eye roll and sarcasm)

Mad Man Madsen,,,,I like your idea...I think everyone should brag and stand up for their favorite driver...What I don't like and will never do is disrespect these men. I may not like a move, care for their response, or even care for the individual but I will respect them. After all these are humans with feelings. Let's not forget many of them have families and children that read this stuff. I never have understood the fans that display the middle finger, boo a driver, or curse them when they drive by..Totally uncalled for. Then to go on these forums and personally attack them for an interview, a missed autograph, or not spending quality time with them...Never understood that. So yes I will support your plan...And for the record I didn't care for some of the negative posts attacking you as well..BTW nice run at Eldora...That was a very entertaining race..

Interesting question. I guess we will never know how much either has socked away.. What I have known about many racers is the more they make, the more they invest in more speed, equipment, and getting to the next race. It is a very expensive sport.....What I have noticed you didn't take into consideration that makes racing a profitable business besides shirt sales is patents, commercials, promoting, engineering, and of course consulting. I would think either of these men could be successful. As far as a million socked away..That can be eroded very quickly in a WOO season...Ask Steve. He is running his own car with Kraig driving...Heck you would think Karl Kinser would be the richest man in Sprint cars with his career of winnings...

Interesting thing I have noticed...you always see a negative Sammy post followed by defenders, and of course the anti Sammy crowd...But let's not get personal with name calling...That's uncalled for......

You see that with pretty much every driver. Every driver has those guys that just lay in the weeds waiting for something, anything negative to post. Each driver also has those fans that will stand up for them no matter what! The haters will continue their tearing down of drivers and the fans will fight against them. The fans will make congratulatory posts (sometimes ridiculous and provoking controversy as well) and the haters will try to cut them down. It is the same thing over and over.
Oh don't forget about the classic outlaw vs. posse debates. Of course most of those were started by a square penny. ;)
