You guys have it wrong. Lol. There are NASCAR fans and there are.... dirt track fans(us). We have to get those other fans to experience real racing. Period. Then the dirt tracks are Gonna be able to buy grand stands from NASCAR tracks to put at Our Dirt tracks..... What do you think....???!!!

It's pretty common knowledge that the number of small local tracks are dwindling. Heck, in Northern Illinois & Southern Wisconsin, Wilmot & Slinger are the only tracks still around. Waukegan, Lake Geneva, Cedarburg & Hales Corners all closed within the past 30 years.

All were lost to "progress" & new developments. NASCAR WAS good racing back in the 70's & 80"s but they wanted bigger and better. Well, they got bigger but I think the quality of their product suffered. Now in an effort to sustain advertisers, NASCAR is competing with small tracks. Bigger is not always better, is it?

I told my tech teacher about Wayne County Speedway (30 minute drive) and he went for one trial week and has been going ever since. He's even told me it was more exciting and funner to watch. I think once the info is out about your local dirt track, NASCAR stands seconds to it.

Maybe if you ask them nicely, Nascar will revise their schedule! (sarcasm) seriously, this board makes my brain hurt some times. here's some free advice; worry about the stuff you CAN control! also, hoseheads meet-up at the beaver dam race anyone? I'd like to meet some of my fellow keyboard jockeys in person. cause you know, the internet is what we make of it, & I'd like to utilize it as a means of meeting people that have at least 1 similar interest. kinda nice to have a face to go w the screen name.

Watch Nascar ,not unless they put the wing on the other end and a big one on top,no thanks, the behavior of the Busch brats is enough to turn most fans of racing off. If the sprint cars were on t.v. I would watch them, but would rather be there and don't care how many times I got to wash the car. I got cable tv but thats for news and my wifes soap operas, but racing is meant for in person ,Nascar needs to realize this and go back to what they do best ,commercials.

The VCR was invented 35 years ago. Now there's DVR.

Anybody who stays home for a NASCAR race is not a serious fan to begin with.

Just my humble opinion, but I think a lot of you guys are full of crap. I understand that NASCAR isn't what it once was, but I for damn sure, have been to my share of sprint races where the pole sitter checked out, no cautions, and I was bored to tears. You just don't want to admit that you watch NASCAR. I am a 'racing' fan, and if it is on TV, I will watch it. I go to Wilmot when I can afford it, and will not stay home to watch NASCAR if the IRA is in town, BUT, I will watch Nascar on a Saturday night if I cannot make the local sprint show. What is the harm in that? Own it........a lot of you guys don't, at least on here. JMHO

That's why they invented DVR and Tevo.. so you can have something to do in the AM after a good Sat night race while you wait for the wife to wake up. Now you can get your Sunday on after you have seen the whole 4 hour program in an hour.

Think what you want but I loathe Napcar and what it has become. It's a joke. I watched it pretty regularly up through the early nineties but that was it for me. Even worse is suffering at a live napcar event, talk about bored to tears. Absolutely lame. I always start to describe what sprint car racing is to new people by saying "its nothing like NASCAR" that usually gets them interested as most everyone I speak to who isnt a motorsports fan (yet) says so due to the extremely boring NASCAR races they've witnessed on tv. That's the straight truth. If it creams your twinkie to watch it, fine, just don't be shocked that many racing fans actually hate it and all it represents. It's like a WWF novelty. Did I mention I really dislike it? HA
Cheers!

I wonder how many dirt tracks are losing to nascar racing on weekend nights? I know people stay home and watch nascar rather than go to the races on Friday and Saturday nights. Pretty sad.

I will be in Knoxville watching the sprints live and recording the nascar race so I can watch the start and then fast forward and watch the last 5 laps

Budz...... Pretty much hit the Nail on the Head.... I can also add, once, the Powers to be, In the offices at NASCAR started tryinhg to make the cars the same, it screwed up RACING! It just became a DOG & PONY SHOW...(for TV)....which kinda left out the REAL Race Car Drivers.... Most of us have heard the Drivers say its just A "Job". The Real racing is at the Local tracks..! ( heard it with my own ears....from some of the BIGGEST NAMED DRIVERS)
