Where did you find 300 rooms in Knoxville ?
|
This is the estimated total between the Super 8 and Red Carpet, could be a few short but what's your point? I think mine is pretty clear, there are not many rooms available thus creating the demand for this convenience. Am I missing something?

And just as word of warning to others considering the Pella, the Baymont Inn is owned by the same guy and I'm now hearing the same reputation exists there as well.

Again, this is not the issue for this motel. Each room holder has a year to year agreement to take the room providing you pay your deposit months in advance. The example you stated is not the same, apples to apples. The complaint is changing the policy without informing anyone until the last minute.
|
I wasn't really trying to compare apples to apples, I guess I was just stating that inflated prices happen in all aspects. I acknowledge that for the football games, people know up front about having to pay inflated prices, and have to accept it, I understand the 'changing the policy' is different

My bad, I see what the a:; ho35: has done to you now! I'd be pissed too. Is it a local owner or a foreign ? Get the word out and boycott them or protest with signs outside of it!!! Never been treated like that by people of Knoxville What a jerk

Just because you have a room # doesn't mean they have that many rooms. All rooms on the first floor are #'ed in teh 100's, all on 2nd floor are #'d in teh 200's and 3rd floor 300's, etc, etc.
I'd say the 90 # I stated earlier may be too high. I've been to hotels with 200 rooms, they've all been 15 floors or taller though...

What does the # of rooms have to do with the real nature of this complaint. My bad if I misstated the # of rooms, its really irrelevant to my complaint. I think we're done on this part of the debate, you don't need to answer the quetion, I get it.

I answered earlier. It's about value to you of your $$.
There are 3 sides to every story, the two parties involved each have different stories and the truth always lies somewhere in the middle.
If indeed you paid a deposit and he tried to do a bait and switch on you (after taking your $$ for you to stay from date XX to XX with WRITTEN Documentation, then I'd have taken my complaint to the Better Business Bureau (they do accept e-mail I'm sure). If you have a written contract, they can't change the contract without you agreeing to it. Now, if you didn't read the contract before signing it, that's an entirely different story.
Since they do year to year re-ups, did you read the one presented to you before signing it and giving him a deposit last year? If not, the language may have already been in it that the stay required the entire 10 days (I know a lot of vacation destinations in CO, WY and MT are set up this way. Even if you can't be there the entire week, you still pay for it).
It sounds like you may have a valid complaint, but at the same time, you aren't following the channels I would to resolve it. Just because you think that someone will rent your room on Thursday of 360 Nationals doesn't mean someone actually will. Most travelers coming for the 360 Nationals want to stay the entire 10 days in one hotel just like you do. Might be a lot harder to fill that room than you think it is...

No the number of rooms at the Super 8 in Knoxville doesn't have any bearing on your complaint against this hotel. I was merely correcting your statement that the Super 8 has at least 225 rooms. As for your complaint against them, I would agree with vande77 that discussing your situation with the Better Business Bureau would be a good place to begin. Especially if you have a signed contract from last year when you paid your deposit for this year.

I think you are taking this off channel a bit. It's about ethics and doing the right thing. The document they send out does not specify any specific nights during the 360 Nationals, just that you must have a minimum of 7 nights for the Knoxville Nationals. I had that covered. I don't want to keep going around the block with you on this, my beef is not with you. It's not with anyone anymore because I ended this business relationship as a hotel guest because of the owners poor choice of not helping a long term customer who has referred others to his establishment. I don't feel he owes me anything, it's his hotel and he can operate it in any manner he wants. If he chooses to treat people like this, he can accept the consequences, if it hurts him in the long run, so be it. He will still rent the room regardless, it's the Knoxville Nationals for Christ sakes. I think the likelihood of the room going un-rented is a far reach, trust me, if someone dropped in or called asking and really wanted it would gladly take if off his hands at any price. I don't think they even bother with a waiting lists as from this action I received, he does not want to put forth the effort to work out small kinks. It's not like he has to do this stuff every week, his hotel sits empty most of the year except on regular season weekends and those weekends are not always full. The exception to that is when the WoO are in town or the Late Model event and weekends when there are large events at Newton. The previous owners always tried to accommodate their regular guests, Mr. Patel could really give a rat's ass who you are, his concern is about the money only and not the guest relationship. Customer service can make or break you. The only exception is this the Southern Iowa Speedweek and it really don't matter what kind of relationship you foster with your guests as this really more about supply and demand in his opinion. The demand for rooms is so high during this period he really doesn't care and is obviously unwilling to take the extra effort to do the right thing. Yes, there 2 sides to every story where you get a third is mystery other than a outsider looking in maybe. My point here is to let as many people know how this guy operates and I think I've done a good job of doing that. I've stated the facts, anyone reading this can make their own decision on whether or not to believe it. If this really didn't happen, why would I waste my time letting people know about it. A lot of people know about the way he operates and some have already commented on it as we have been guests and those who live in Knoxville know the truth. There's been issues with this hotel in the past, we let those stand on their own.

You say 1300 for 10 nights that's 1300 / 10 nights so 130 a night. That's cheap compared to everywhere else in the country. Hotels in small towns up their prices all over a d this is 2012 era where most places will require a minimum stay if they can get but with it . If this place isn't for you then move on cause I'm sure someone else will glady take the spot to be that close to all the action. Knoxville is such an awesome racing venue and nationals are no exception. You can always stay in a motor home. We have never had anything but praise for the Chamber of Commerece, Food Vendors, coffee shops, security, bars etc. You just got to behave yourself act civil and enjoy the show.
|
huh, 130 a night is average across the country, don't think so. antioch california next weekend for the KwS series. la quinta, 79 a night. you need to get out more....just sayin
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..
Life is good...

Almost 1400 views today, if the guy that owns the hotel actually comes on here he should be proud that he gave up a 10 night $1300 reservation over 1 or 2 more nights, instead he got the hottest hoseheads topic of the day. :)

Uh um we are talking the Knoxville Nationals if you don't know. Greatest week in Sprint car racing. What this hotel has done is unethical and I would never support them now . We aren't talking some KwS race

I think you nailed it perfect! Expressing your opinion in the right places reaches many. Let's hope Mr. Patel has learned something here. This was mainly about principals and ethics. In the small town of Knoxville from my experience of 25 years, I have found every resident and business owner to be ambassadors of their community and a pleasure to spend time with and also spend my hard earned money. I often refer to Knoxville as my home away from home and enjoy every trip throughout the year.
