The results as I have em printed out. (disclaimer: if there were penalties handed out, I have no knowledge of it)
Sanders, Suggs, Bud, BK, Tarlton, NelsonFurr, Ronnie Day, Wright, Stallings, Pylant, Newton, Simone, Ferris, Keith Day, Osborne, Wise, Eliason, Smith, Bonnema, Chester, Foland, Guterriez, Sargent, Katen
Margin Of Victory: .808
Fastest Race Lap: Evan Suggs 13.249

stu jason told me he ended up 10th so i am guessing stallings and pylant got popped for jumping the last start. he said he was told there were about 5 cars through out the pack that jumped the last start so just thinking they may have got popped. that last start was a fuster cluck! jason said two cars jumped him going into 3 comming to the start and another one went around him out of 4 before the cone! if they are going to let that happen they might as well put the cone on the back chute like the old days and turn them loose there!

well I was late to the track tonight. I was testing my setup with the laptop teathered to the BB and gave it one last shot. BINGO! LOL. Ok, load up and go. Oh wait, kid delay. Then I was nervous that it wouldnt work due to my experience with the Cingular Air card and its POS connectivity. Fear not, it worked like a charm, never dropped once on me! woohoo! Mystery Of THe Bermuda Triangle solved! Set to go for next week.
Post race comments:
The frustration level from Evan and Bud were clearly evident in the frontstretch interviews. For Evan, it was definately one that got away and Bud was classic. It was something to the effect, "Ive been doing this for 10-11 years, I do this for a living. I dont lose to rookies. But he (Justin) drove a great race."
For the crowd, this was a popular win. They went nuts! He commented on the final caution, "when we were coming out of turn 4 and those guys got together in front of me I almost shit my pants." The crowd was howling, lol. I guessing he probably really does need some clean nomex. The leaders all went to the inside berm to avoid it. Im sure Mr. P wont mind the doughnuts on his infield grass. hahaha.

justin winning was good enough, but winning AND getting under the skin of a couple of front runners, PRICELESS!! i'm sure everyone was glad to see the kid get one, including bud and evan. it was his night.

I don't think the additional 5 laps would have changed anything. It was Justin's night and the fans sat thru a lot. John made the correct call

thanks for the updates. have the parents in town this weekend (from Indiana) so can't be at the races.
|
Hey OSF... you need to load the parents up and head to Chico tonight. That track was scary fast last night and the biggest field of 410's this year will be here! Kyle Lasron was on rails last night.

Thats correct.
the following cars got penalties for passing before the cone on 23 therefore race results adjusted and posted.
83m - 1 pos
09 - 3 pos
10 - 1 pos
22 - 2 pos

that shows just how fierce the battle for position was behind the leaders. i guess guys just thought they could get away with it on the last start of the night. that is why i questioned the cutting of laps, not that it may have changed the first couple of spots, but it would have given the guys behind them a bit more time to battle it out. when you are not a consistant top 5 team it is hard to gain points with the way the system is structured. so 1, 2 or 3 points are important when you may have a chance at them. especialy when i think only 13 points seperates 10th from 20th place.

What this illustrates is that between the transponders and the officials, get in line, just get in line, stay in line, let the shirts get you where youre supposed to be. Let the guy in and get single file asap. Otherwise we are buning the clock. I dont like that.
And dont jump the cone. OR- You will get tagged.
Im ok with that.

I will go on record that I am in favor of bringing back the backstretch cone and backstretch restarts.

This is where the one way radio comes into play. The officials have radios and if they were mandatory like the transponders for the drivers the game playing would cease. Excuses such as I didn't know what you meant by your hand signals, I couldn't read the board they were showing me would be gone. You tell the drivers where to go and if they don't you throw the green. Those drivers who choose not to get in their correct spot will be penalized at the end of the race. You get penalized a spot or two or whatever is decided ahead of time. This would let every driver know this won't be tolerated and above all save all the unnecessary laps, and perhaps keep from having to cut short feature events. There is enough time lost dealing with just getting cars pushed off after a yellow or a red.
I keep hearing from people in the pits whenever there is a rule they don't like that this isn't how the WoO do it, well this is how the WoO do it and look how efficiently their shows are run.

with all due respect, the rules say 2 car penalty for each car jumped, still at least something was done to send a message.
....and stu, i will go down on record that i am in favor of going back to double file restarts!

Buzz, when Rick made the call to go 25 laps, they were nearing another fuel stop situation and didnt want to do that on top of the fact that the running time was way over an hour by lap 17.
Yeah we had time to go another 5 laps, but the "what ifs" were apparently a little too spooky given the events of the race and the full moon, lol. Im not gonna fault em.
|
The problem is that of 3 races only 1 has gone the distance I do not pay to see a 20 or 25 lap main.
The kid probably would have still won the race but Bud and Evan should have had that 5 laps to try.
As for the fuel deal I have always said run the race if somebody wins it on fuel mileage so be it,the next time I am sure almost everybody will go the distance.

If its 2 cars per car jumped, how are there1 & 3 car penalties? Are they jumping half a car? Cutting any main event short is BS, they cut the spec sprints down to 15 laps, especially when they had the time. They should only run 3 divisions a night not 4 when the sprints are racing,

i read the rules. both the track rules and the rules pertaining to the class i participate in. i usually have them at the track. i have seen loop holes in the rules and open ended rules as well as grey areas in the rules that are ripe for exploitation given the right circumstance. the thing is, it is starting to get to the point that you are not sure just what the official call on some of these rules will be at the track when they come up. written rules have been over ruled this year and also enforced in a way that is not consistant with the way they are written. i am not slamming or trying to bad mouth any one. just pointing out my opinion on some things i have observed. just hoping we have consistancy in the calls. from the start the series rules have been cut and pasted and borrowed from other sources. and mistakes have ended up in them or mistakes have been imported or inherited into them. i feel it is up to the track to know the rules as much or more than the racers and to police them both in print and at the track to make sure they say what they want them to mean and are enforced as such. some of these things may not seem like much untill you try to take advantage of them and find you can't or you play by the rules and don't break them only to find it over ruled and allowed when some one ends up doing it. for the most part things go pretty smooth at ocean, a little more awareness would not hurt though.
