Bananarama - I don't think you are getting the point about the refund. If the promoter refunded the money initially most of the teams would likely have come back in March if they could. They also would have been back next fall and would more than likely brought friends thus helping the event grow. Instead, he held to his guns, so to speak, and now not only will he have a deplorable turn out in March but likely will have even greater problems next fall. That doesn't count what he will no doubt lose on his weekly show by fans and drivers alike that do not care for his track or the way it operates any longer. Not to mention what fines the Attorny General may levee against him.

Your not helping either by calling out many of the folks that were there or could potentially help to promote the track. You are not only making yourself look like an idiot but the track and the rest of its staff also.

redbandana: for the sake of those of us wearing progressive bifocals, can you please do 2 things? 1)Take off the cap locks. It's easier to read all lower case than it is to read all upper case.

2)Every now and then, hit the *enter* buttton. That will break your thread up into paragrapgh form, making a long post easier to read.

Thanks.

On a separate note-Do you, by chance know a fella named sunshine44? I hear he's got over 1200 wins. You and he sound a lot alike.

If you FART it might stink,if you step in a mud puddle your foot might get wet. IF YOU LOAD YOUR RACE CAR ON THE TRAILER AND HEAD DOWN THE ROAD WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE WEATHER CHANNEL YOU MIGHT BE OUT THE COST OF THE TRIP ,,,BECAUSE THE RACE RAINS OUT.

IT AINT THE GOOD OL DAYS ANYMORE WHERE WE GOT PAID FOR HEAT RACE FINISHES LIKE IN THE 60s.,AND MOST TRACKS NOW LET THE FAST GUYS START UP FRONT INSTEAD OF LEARNING TO DRIVE BY COMING FROM THE BACK TO WIN. SOME OF USE WHO BEEN AROUND ALONG TIME REMEMBER TIMES WERE MUCH BETTER ALONG TIME AGO....SO MANY OF OUR CHIOCES ARE MADE DUE TO THE O MIGHTY DOLLAR...SOMETIMES YOU GOT TO STOP YOURSELF AND REMEMBER WE DO THIS FOR FUN AND IF IT AINT FUN NOMORE MAYBE ITS TIME TO QUIT. BUT WE LOVE WHAT WE DO SO WE KEEP DOING IT.

THE NEW GUYS OUT THERE I CAN TELL YOU THIS ,,RACING STARTED WITH SOME GUYS IN A FIELD WAVING A GREASE RAG FOR FLAGS TO STOP AND GO WITH ,stop yourself and think when you talk down A track owner his is working his but to give use a great place to race.

There is just as much work if not more in running a track then keeping up a race car,and the risk is much greater, and the reward can be greater to it goes long with the bigger the chance you take the bigger the reward can be. SO REMEMBER WHEN YOU CUT DOWN A TRACK OWNER THEY WORK JUST HAS HARD AS YOU AND HAVE MUCH MORE AT STAKE........THINK ABOUT IT WE COULD BE RACING IN OUR BACK YARDS AGAIN WITHOUT THE TRACK OWNERS.

in the old days we used to get 2 grandstand passes with every car that signed in. a car owner and drivers wife or any two people could use them. also promotors did not let anyone and everyone run around in the pits. you had to be a member and signed into a car to get in. now we have close to 50 dollar pit passes and pits full of people running around who should have paid to get in the stands so the money could go towards the purse and not the back gate. and wtf is up with the cost of pit passes? we have to pay more to work our asses off to put on the show. don't get me wrong i am really not saying that our local promotors should go broke puting on shows. i am just stating that it seems like the teams have become the paying customers.

If you move your left-hand over just a tad bit to the left you can take the Caps Lock off. That would be much appreciated and also you can use the spell-check above your post where it say's "abc" at. These are just the little things that help people enjoy what your posting rather then having to pull out "You know your a Redneck" book to decipher the post's being presented on here.

it is what you're posting. not what your posting. just thought i would throw that in if you guys are going to go all english teacher on the guy.

This is the best post I've seen yet. The sad part is I was actually able to read and understand it's meaning. Good job getting the point across Faster Pussycat.

Unfortunately the "Redneck Dictionary / Redneck Thesaurus" is a must have when De-coding most posts here and on Oklahoma Tidbits.

People, please at least locate (2) two very important keys on your keyboard. The first is the CAPS Lock key, generally located on the Left hand side of the Keyboard directly above the Shift key. It's like the third key up from the bottom. The second and probably most important is the ENTER key. That is the key that creates Paragraphs.

This is a test, how many paragraphs are in this post. And is this not easier to read than a single clutter of words.

You mentioned that you didnt need to spell to drive a race car... You sure need to be able to explain yourself, i think that bandana is wrapped a little tight.... You aint no Outlaw rookie, stop before you kill yourself..... You got to record a session when you get out the car and try to explain what the car was doing and what adjustments need to be made... I want to hear that on tape....

Sorry i didnt mean anything toward drivers not being able to spell. Two guys were ribbing me on my bad spelling.

But just like your nickname sidewayz,,,,,,,,,if it wont go in forward take it in sidways ,,,,if it dont go in sidways back it in ,,,,,and if your a good enough shoe you will make it work. We have all drove bad handling cars,,,but we also know what it feels like when you get one that handles just right. In todays racing i think that maybe alot of guys over think themselves on set up ,,,to much tech at onr time...One adjustment at a time umtill you get it close..

Yes, it is true the racers are paying their own way, more and more frequently. This has been a way of life in drag racing for years. No it doesn't't seem fair. There are so many different types of motorsport classes that spectators are pulled in different directions. Insurance has gone way up, as has all other of the promoter's expenses. With the exception of the large touring professional races, the front gate dosen't't pay expenses.

The promoter deserves to turn a profit. If you owned a business you would expect it to turn a profit or you'll get out.

As a participant you relies this is a hobby, a very expensive hobby, at any level. Hobby stock to sprint.

30% of all race tracks change management /and or owners every year. This is a pretty volatile business. most of these track owners already have a successful business. They are not stupid.

In 30 years I've been on the pit crew/ and raced with : excavation business owner, new house building contractor, home remodelling contractor, a new car dealer, and a business warehouse supply owner. Everyone of these people , I mean everyone of these people criticised the tracks where they ran. None of them ever promoted a track however. All of them had extensive experience in racing. Their opinions were valid, but it's usually easier said than done.

I had one driver complain when the promoter asked the drivers to line up on the straightway too greet fans. The pits were on the back stretch where no one saw you until the races were over. I told him you might meet someone who would sponsor him. We Wern't't looking for much.

A sprint car racer used to bitch about the lower classes. Those classes bring in a lot of the local people to see their neighbor race.

On this website we all are hard core . We will travel 100's of miles to see a race, but casual fan will not. This year I cut way back as both a participant and as a spectator. $$$ problems ya know.

This sounds Utopian, but as racers were in business with the promoters.

One more thing, enclosed trailers don't create any interest either. you could be mowing laws for all any one knows. Do you remember the excitement as kid when you saw a race car on a trailer, any racecar.
