These heavily subsidized LM races at sprint car tracks (Husets and Knoxville in particular) should be a thing of the past. I have no inside knowledge on who pays for these shows but surely it is not the front gate. Flo or LucasOil have to paying some of it or else the tracks would be losing their shirts.

And if the drivers don't like it, there is no fan base for it, why have them?

Been saying this for awhile. Williams Grove tries running a show or 2 every year. Usually with good money and the teams just don't show up and I guarantee they don't put near enough people in the stands to make a difference. I'll never understand why weekly sprint car tracks in sprint car hotbed areas find it necessary to kiss ass with the late models. It's just stupid and most sprint car people don't care about them enough that it moves the needle for them.

I used to go all 3 nights of this event back when it started. Recently I only go to Saturday night just due to other things demanding my time. This event seems to be fading and doesn't generate much buzz anymore.

One thing I see is the late model drivers/crews seem like a bunch of whiners. Always complaining it's hard on motors, fuel can't go 100 laps anymore so now its 75, tracks too heavy. You name it they complain about it.

Back in the day this was a pretty good race to watch. Too bad they let the racers ruin it.

You're not kidding there. That crowd bitches about everything and it isn't just the drivers. We definitely have our share too but the late model crowd is exceptional. I find it funny them bitching about it being so aero dependent yet it seems like every year, the bodies get bigger and more geared towards creating downforce with every single inch of the car. Knoxville is a dump to Davenport yet look at some of the pieced together shitholes he races at down south. I guess those are ok? He obviously has mental problems. I get that he doesn't like the track. Every driver has tracks they like and don't like. But to call it a dump? He's just going out of his way to be an asshole making a statement like that.

I'm not sure why it matters what pays the purse.  If they are heavily "subsidized" by Flo or LucasOil, who cares?  The shows will stop running once they are not profitable.  As long as they're still running, I don't really care what makes it profitable.    Nascar, for 10 years +, could not have even been close to paying the bills on the front gate.  Not even close.  Some of the tracks are making a comeback now, but with the big crash of attendance at shows, they survived only off of TV revenue.  Yes, salaries crashed drastically, but there was still money to be made at most tracks, because of TV deals.

JMO though.
