Make them unload in the infield if their trailer is above a certain height. My home track does this. It's not that bad once you get used to it. My crew always had everything loaded up and ready to go by the time I got done talking to fans and having a few beers. Fans like to see cars in the infield. It's part of the show.

'mandating open trailers' + smiley = sarcasm

Old guys like old stuff. In fact , 60 today.

and I'm  standing by my NASCAR comment. Example: Huset's. The Tod Querings (and Tony Stewarts) are very few and very far between. And Tod bailed the place out for, what?,  pennies on the Chuck's dollars - but still a bunch of money.

Port is really nice. But I'm still fond of the infield pits, covered grandstand, pagoda, and white wash. The appeal to me has always been the people, the cars, the speed, and the fairgrounds atmosphere.

Davey Brown in blue work clothes is the only uniform I need to see.

And,  I'm an infield guy so sightlines are obviously not that important to me Smile

Sorry, didn't notice that smiley

Which is especially bad cause thats what I use to indicate sarcasm too

Hard to detect on the Internet with no facial expressions or tone of voice

"Hard to detect on the internet with no facial expressions or tone of voice" - yeah, how 'bout it?

With social media, texts, and, uh,  message boards; facial expressions and tone of voice will go / have gone the way of open trailers, midrail cars, pits in the infield, pagodas, and whitewash :)

I think Williams Grove, especially the big races, has one of the best atmospheres of any track I've been to and a big part of that is having the cars pitted in the infield. I remember when Port Royal first moved the pits outside, it was weird. It felt very empty. I'm not against doing it because it definitely enhances the view from the bleachers. Selinsgrove just did it and it made things way better but in the case of Selinsgrove, it actually moved the pit area closer to the fans than it was before so it was a win/win. BAPS is the same way. The front pit area is right behind the main bleachers. For me, it isn't a big deal at Williams Grove because we have reserved seats. Our view isn't blocked at all but in the lower rows, the view is definitely obstructed. I'd hate to see Williams Grove lose that atmosphere but at the same time, it would be nice if the sight lines could be improved for all the fans. Williams Grove definitely has the space to park trailers outside & pit the cars inside. I just don't see the teams being on board with it. I do think that would be the best solution for sure if it could be worked out to where all the teams were on board. I just don't see it happening though.

Put the bridge sideways and if you fit under it, you can pit inside.

Any talk about pits at Williams Grove moving out of infield

If anyone reading this has been to Volusia Speedway Park the Grove could use their pits as an example. Clear out the old building in 1st turn & wrap around to the present backstretch pit area. Any open trailers would be eligable to used the current infield pits.

I have reserved seats at the Grove on the backstretch. I am three rows from the top and only see wings going down the front stretch.

Time to move the pits to turns 1 and 2
