Sounds like the governor may have pulled the plug on this one.

Not looking good at all.  Governor stepped in.

Sammy will be racing Kevin's car for all the big shows and a few selected ones along the way.  First show will likely be at Knoxville in a month or so....

Hmmm, I don't quite get this one. I'm not an asssault rifle waving, protesting, right-wing extremist or anything. I understand and am in agreement with the pecautions we have had take to try and curb the spread of covid-19. However Snyder County is in the yellow phase of re-opening starting tomorrow. The speedway isn't allowing spectators and is following the social distancing guidelines for the staff and competitors plus they had permission from the state up until yesterday. It's OK for me to go back to work in a factory tomorrow with 100 other people in close proximity indoors, but not OK for Selinsgrove Speedway to follow guidelines and have a race. I don't get this reversal. Having said that, Saturday's forecast is a high of 46, low of 34. That's pretty darn cold for racing. It may be better to reschedule if allowed. Thanks to Selinsgrove for at least trying.

Is it official that the race is cancelled?.....although the weather was not susposed to be great, I was really looking forward to this race. The Selinsgrove promotors can not seem to get a break. This was an opportunity for some national exposure for the track. One of my favorite tracks in the country with drivers like Dewease, Monteith and Sammy making a rare appearence.....

Last I heard they were working with the local state representative to still have the race on Saturday but not sure how that is going. I'd say it's probably a slim chance. Yeah it was looking to be a great field of cars(42 entered). Too bad the track doesn't get that kind of driver support more often. Hopefully they can still have this show either tomorrow or at least on another date in the next couple weeks.

There seems to be some evidence that the virus is most dangerous in enclosed environments whereas outdoor events especially with no fans should be relatively okay. That said I'm not going to get worked up over it. Unprecedented times.....

Everyone wants to hate on the damned if he does, damned if he doesn't, governor -  who's primary responsibility is to keep people in Pennsylvania safe - as much as it sucks - for him more than anyone.

Officially postponed until May 16th, not because of the weather, but to continue to work on him, or he, or she, or whatever that dynamic duo is.

It may not be much consolation for those that like to complain about everything, but I doubt this race was going to happen anyway given the weather outlook.

Some of you are all getting in an uproar and like nick said the race was prolly not going to happen anyways because of mother nature as they want rain mixing with snow tonite then temps in the low to mid 40s as highs tomorrow with 30 mph winds!!

from  State Rep John Hershey facebook page.Wolfe will be handing out kool aid this weekend if anybody is thirsty.

PA State Rep. John Hershey

Another disappointing display of a lack of transparency and consistency from the governor. For Juniata Valley racing fans, you will want to read this one. Thanks to PA State Rep. David Rowe for sharing this with me.

On Monday, 5/4, the administration via DCED and the State Police gave permission for Selinsgrove Speedway to race this Saturday. This was going to be a pay-per-view race with no fans in the stands. Drivers would be required to distance, and the track detailed their sanitation procedures to the administration. I was very hopeful, because this meant that as soon as Juniata County went to the governor’s “yellow” phase, Port Royal Speedway could begin racing as well.

Yesterday, 5/7, the governor revoked his permission for Selinsgrove to race without giving further reasons. DCED also JUST updated their guidance on 5/7 to include “racetracks” on their list of prohibited activities.

This should shock anyone looking for their governor to be more transparent, regardless of party.
