This isn't a surprise at all. Last year (or the previous year?) Tony Stewart was told he wasn't allowed to bring his merch trailer to WOO events because he wasn't a regular on their tour. I get that both ways.

Surprised that K. Masden and McFadden not here maybe they went back to Australia ,heard last night that Schatz was running Late Model at Valusa.
Bill Rose said he was going home good to see some of the 360 guys running with the All Stars.
At least it is a different show we just watched the same show for five nights just a different format.
SILL REFER THE ALL STAR FORMAT.
met the guys with the 15 team really good guys hope to have problems solved for the Grove opener.

Still a decent field here, but thankful there's no support division with only 4 push trucks.

Saw a tweet from CJB Motorsports today. Looks like Brent Marks will be there tonight.
I was coming here this morning to post the exact same question. Wondering how many we can expect.
|
I doubt WRG gave the go ahead to race since their weren't any Outlaw teams there.
I know CJB aren't platinum since the didn't use a provisional the other night. All platinum drivers are given basically free provisionals at DirtCar Nats and World Finals, if they want to use it. And I know Ian's team is running all over this season.

CJB announced they weren't platinum earlier too. And they only get two provisionals for the entire first 4 months. That's why Wayne Johnson didn't take one on Sunday

Brownie too. The same Brownie who starts front row and went backwards yet again. I bet those guys are starting to get pissed. The car has a ton of speed. Just listen to the thing when it comes by. Charlie Garrett has em covered. Why these guys cant capitalize on these starts is beyond me.

Could you clarify "how strong the All Star brand is becoming" ? Not sure I understand what you mean by this.

Popularity, number of teams, caliber of drivers, points fund, schedule... everything about the series is trending up.

I can see a future where the All Stars become the equal or perhaps even the more desirable series when compared to the WOO, but for now the caliber of drivers isn't close. The All Stars are curently the JV series. The WOO are currently the premier sprint car attraction, and again, it's currently not close. The current dominate driver in the All Stars in Reutzal. The assumption is that at some point he will graduate to the WOO. That may change in the future, but it's where we are for now. There isn't an ojective measure where the All Stars are shown to be anywhere near equal standing.

I'm not saying they are close rivaling the WoO. Obviously the talent there is unmtached. But if you compare the All Stars now to where they were before Stewart owned the series its a tremendous improvement. I wouldn't be shocked if guys like Kraig Kinser, Jason Sides, Mason Daniels were to make a switch to ASCoC. At this point Sides obviously has the money to run WoO with little success so I'm not specifically talking about these drivers, but more so drivers of their caliber and past success. For example... we've already seen Wilson, McMahon, and Eliason resort to All Stars.

Can't disagree there. I think we're in full agreement. That's why I mentinoed "currently". I can see a change happening long term.
The aspect that sucks for me is I'm in northwest Washington. My local track is Skagit. All Stars don't travel to the west coast. I love that the WOO makes their west coast swing and come to Skagit and Gray's Harbor. Not sure if that's something I can look forward to in the future. I guess there's still DirtVision and Flo. Also, it gives me reason to travel. Went to Eldora two years ago. Headed to Knoxville this year.

You were reading my mind and I too would love to know the answer to that question. In the late model world, the World of Outlaws are generally not considered to be the premier series. The premier series is generally thought to be the Lucas Oil Late Model series. It seems like whenever the Outlaw late models are off, the Outlaw guys go whereever they want whether it's a Lucas Oil show or even a show closer to home. You don't hear anything about those teams having to ask for permission to race somewhere. Do they have to ask and we just don't hear about it and if not, why the double standard? Possibly because the Outlaw Late Models aren't the premier series and don't want to rock the boat with their members?

I know all things are possible but is it realistic that the Ascoc could develop their point fund to match or at least get closer to that of the Woo?
In time i mean, not next season. But i wonder if they did offer more money combined with less travel could teams have a similar bottom line in November. I suppose some teams like to travel coast to coast but others like staying closer to home. I see it as the Ascoc like to stay in sprint proven areas while the WoO get a bit further from the hot beds.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

There is no rule in late model racing, i don't think it has anything to do with Lucas being a stronger series. Imo they are very close this year. Also neither series runs enough races for guys to only do 1 I don't think

Good.point. I follow Brent Larson's progress with the Outlaws as I got to know him when he ran weekly at Cedar Lake. He bounced back and forth an ran with both but he hasn't been a front runner. The Late Models have a ton of cars show up everywhere no matter what series and I don't think they restrict them like the Sprint drivers.
