I recall reading an article about A J Flick early this season. A J indicated that with the addition of sponsorship from Red Robin, he would be running some of the big shows at Williams Grove. But then I’m old so it could have been a dream?!? Anyone remember hearing this?

Flick ran fourth last night in the Sprint Car special show at Thunder Mountain (Pa.).

That race event was a damn bore from beginning until end with the ONLY exception being the late race slider from Gravel thrown at Shaffer. How anyone can enjoy that type of sprint car racing is unreal.
Cheers!

Was it the best racing that I have every seen in my almost 40 years of going to Williams Grove....No. Was it boring, absolutely not. The track was in decent racing shape. There was a lot of action throughout the field. Lance going from 12th to 6th in 2 laps, etc. Sometimes you get a race where the winner starts on up front.Shaffer had to earn that win! There was a great crowd, great atmosphere and for me I got my $30 bucks worth of entertainment. I can't wait to make the 90 mile drive back again tonight.

He was racing at Thunder Mountain last night. He races mainly in western PA and Port Royal since western PA doesn't have many Saturday night shows anymore.

So, to be clear, you only watch the leader of the race? And, because you were fixated on the leader, you only saw one instance of side-by-side racing? That makes sense.
I am assuming by your last statement you did NOT like this type of sprint car racing-------------why were you there? I am assuming you are not returning?

Thanks for the info. I know he runs Port weekly and was at Thunder Mt last night. Just trying to confirm what I recall hearing about additional sponsorship allowing him to run some “big shows” at the Grove. Would be a nice addition to the field.

You mite see AJ run out to the grove late in the year. Let's remember that his sponsors are primarily from western pa. So that pretty much locks him into lernerville on fridays and he's got to be in the points chase there. He's been doing a great job at port royal on Saturday's. The thunder mtn show paid 3000.00 to win, not sure how the breakdown was, I believe he finished 4th.

When the All Stars are racing elsewhere, the Grove Outlaw races car counts suffer.
Its ridiculous because tomorrow’s race is actually a better paying show than Lernervilles Silver Cup.
|
How do you figure? When the Tuesday Night at Lernerville paid 25k to win... Williams Grove Saturday Night 20k to win... and Schatz won it on Saturday Night...

I remember seeing it too. A.J. is getting pretty fast at Port. Only a matter of time until he's sitting on the stage again. If it weren't for shit luck, he'd probably have a win or 2. If he can compete at Port, he can do it at Williams Grove and Lincoln as well. Hopefully he can get to the other tracks a little more. It'll only make him better.
