So let them bash, go to the races & have fun. wish i could make it....maybe I will
|
Oh I go to the races and have fun. It just entertains me at how some people on here & on social media in one thread will say they need to increase the winners purse. Then in another they go well they only did it because of reason xyz, or they should have put more money through the field & not just the winner. Makes me laugh. I don't have a dime to invest in a track or a car, just can afford Tix & merchandise so I just go to the track and enjoy

Can the Kreitz Racing box truck hold that much cash on the ride home to PA or will they have to pull a separate trailer?

They are going to change the format also. Will be interesting to see what they do. I'm hoping for totally inverted heats with passing points and a top 10 scramble before the feature.

Same. It really leveled the playing field for some smaller budget teams. A mid-pack qualifying time could land you a front row starting spot in your heat. Then by feature time we have typical dryslick eldora (in recent years), and guys like Brandon Wimmer and Lee Jacobs are running top 5.

Maybe Tony realized it was time to raise the purse when the 50/50 winner was bringing home as much cash.... lol

Make the King's Royal purse percentages the same as Mopar Million percentages and see if that looks better.

Eldora put over $100k into the purse from 2nd on back just a year or two ago and. The purse has gone from $181k to $595k in the last 5 years and some of you STILL complain?! Unreal.
Knoxville doesnt need to do anything. They still have almost a $1 million purse.
What a great day for our sport. Big events getting bigger is ALWAYS a good thing.

Just an honest question but does the million at knoxville include all 4 days and does the 590,000 at Eldora include all 3 days?
They can do as they wish, more money is always good. My thot is that only about 12 to 15 drivers have a shot at the extra this year where everyone had a chance at the extra 2 yrs ago. One of those drivers would put some of that money back into the TSR system.
So there is about an 8% chance it wont cost him $175000.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Agreed, but "175K to win" makes a bigger headline than "extra 75K spread through the field".

Lets put it this way, the $125k increase in winners share is larger than the entire purse of the national open or Tuscarora 50. When the Kings Royal first started that $50k number was a number that made you go “wow”. This is the same deal.

Most are in favor but I agree 100% with blazer00 in making the winner's share $100,000 (a big number and big increase)and spread the rest thru the field. Good grief, $175,000 for first and what, $20 or $25,000 for 2nd? Love everything Smoke has done for dirt racing but this could have been thought out better IMO. The leader better have a big lead going into the last couple laps with a difference like that, its a make it or break it kind of season with a win for a lot of teams.

I thot I read somewhere that one of Earls trademarks was always having a bit more prize money the following year. Even if it was a small increase he made sure the purse grew every year. Is this true?

The World 100 winner share has gone up 1 grand every year.

$50,000 in 1984 would be like $122,000 in 2019 according to the old inflation calculator. They got it right.
And the KR has probably had more suprise winners than any other big money race in the country so everybody just chill. I can't believe I'm the one saying that. Damn you people for making me the voice of reason around here. Damn you.

That’s never been what the Royal or Eldora is about. $100k to win and “money spread through the field” is a snoozer. $175k winner take all makes you go “wow”.

Odd number years 175k to win - even number years 75k to win spread the 100k through the field
