I hear you but car counts are already down in Posse country. More guys traveling is going to kill local 410 racing!! Already lost the Shark team, CJB team, Marks,Ryan Smith, Mackisons, and Tyler Esh. Highland team only running part time.Mark Smith focusing on 360s and ESS. Zemco and Coldren ??? for next year. Folks who wish for more traveling teams do so at the expense of fans who support local tracks.

Why?

Payouts haven't changed.  If a travel team leaves the area, in theory that means there is a place for a local up and comer to make their bones.  The Outlaw deal must not be a terrible as it once was for the mid packers, because it seems more teams are able to survive running the whole deal now than they used to and instead of running out of resources and dropping off the tour, are running it for multiple years.

rail, I truly feel bad for you.  You have a great local racing scene and it would be a disaster if that changed.  Losing some of the best car owners in the country is finally sinking in.  The Apple Car, the Brickmobile, Leon Wintermeyer, the 88 car of Joe Harz (sp) and many others, the sport misses them greatly.  The sport is getting old and the old timers are leaving, it's more than sad.  Heck, it's even been a decade for me and I used to see 20 shows a year there and had a great debate going, miss those days a ton, really.

I miss those ole debating days too Nellie. Back when I was a young cheerleader and you were my foe. Old age doesn't escape many of us. Take it easy.

Man, they were fun days that a few people got carried away with and I sometimes responded somewhat unkind also, lol.  Trust me there were dozens and dozens of people that never posted who sent me private emails and were from PA and LOVED it,  There were lots of Kinser fans who loved the Outlaws and Sammy fans and Schatz fans they just didn't post in this forum.  I had a dozen different people ask me to stay with them and talk about travelling with the Outlaws all over the country but i generally stayed with the same 2 or 3 families and they were the greatest.  Heck, I researched every Outlaw race back to the beginning for ammunition, heck it was PA who caused the 410 rule, the Posse used the big blocks and blew them away early on, lol.  Some of the best people I ever met were from your area and I think about them often and hope they are all doing fine (at least better than me lol).  Heck, my friends up here in Canada who don't follow sprint car racing ask about 'the Posse' every once in a while it was such a big deal back then with me, those were the days......

Why? Your first sentence-"Payouts haven't changed" - is likely a major part of the answer. That said, I'd bet the promoters are likely doing the best they can with what they got. Would they like to raise the purse and get more cars and maybe more fans? Sure, but can they afford to? I seriously doubt that any weekly racing plus a few big shows promoter is making a fortune promoting races. And, in my book, they all earn whatever money they make as they assume ALL the risk - sky gets dark at 4 PM and they're gonna lose money that night if it never rains.

Car counts seem to be pretty decent under the circumstances - but exclude the car counts for the last month of the season. They always drop-off. Unfortunately, the days of several high dollar, passionate car owners - that run every race until it snows- are gone. And it's not just sprint cars either.

Sadly, I think the posse's lackluster showing is due to the same circumstances: Davey Brown's motors have plenty of horsepower for central PA, but when the big dogs come to town, perhaps not.

And, very sadly for me, it just makes sense that the traveling, professional racers with all the best stuff, come to town and take the loot.

Greg Hodnett DNQ - still shaking my head over that one - regardless of his "non-Hodnett" year. Perhaps that is also "telling" ?

Posse was not all owned by all of woo.  Lance was only barely beat by only one woo.  He blew by the rest of woo like they were standing still with much less horsepower on a horsepower track.  Put equal engine in an the 69 blows the doors off Schatz and Warner.  Easy to see that it outhandled the 15 especially if they would have stayed in lapped traffic.  Still a really good run.  Take it for what it is.  You can spin that however you want but they are facts.

Davey Brown's engines make plenty of horsepower. Stop making stupid excuses for why the Posse yet again got their asses handed to them by the best in the business. Schatz was just better. Especially coming off the corners. The 69K team has nothing to hang their heads about. This type of stuff right here is what gives posse fans a bad rap.

The Harz yellow 88h was one of my favorite paint schemes. Car was always immaculate when it rolled out of the trailer. Talk to Joe occasionally in the pits at the Grove and Lincoln. He's retired and living in Florida, but still makes it north for some of the big races. Pete Postupack (sp?) is another lost owner. Loved sprint car racing and had some good drivers. Mark Smith, Chad Layton beat the WoO at the Grove in one of his cars. Pittman, Dewease, and Justin Henderson also drove for Pete.

FiXXXer, not making excuses, only reporting what Kreitz said on Winged Nation. Donny said that Davey Brown thought (no tangible proof) the 69k was down 70 HP to Brian Brown. There has to be a reason that the locals struggle so much in TT's when WoO come to town. Could be driver, but also could be set up and/or HP. I don't know, just raising the question.

Not anything to do with Pete, but one of his former drivers is coming back to 410 racing next year, Yo Adrian.
