A rip off based on what? Your intimate knowledge of what it costs for the company to provide the service and how much profit they are making? I doubt that, and I doubt they are getting rich. You think it's too much, don't pay it. Very simple concept.

Since you have it all figured out, maybe you should set up your own streaming service and make lots of money off the many people who will be watching it for the price you will charge.
You already admitted to not knowing what it costs to setup and stream the event, so how in God's name can you make an educated assesment of what the companies should be charging, since you don't know the associated costs or potential revenue (and no, the admission fee at the gate has nothing to do with it). I also don't understand why you are so burnt up about it, you aren't going to buy it anyway, so why should it matter to you?

What you guys have to keep in mind is that Strawser will complain that tracks charge too much for admission to see it live also. He knows what it costs to run all businesses.

Wish I had the time or motivation to search through old threads.

Well....since you never leave Pennsylvania like the majority of the drivers you watch....dont worry about what the rest of us spend to watch racing around the country....sounds like a fixed income issue....dont bitch about 20 bucks

I'm glad I saw this thread. After lame ass, don't wanna race Selinsgrove decided to cancel just as the rain was about to stop at 4, I bought the dirtstation broadcast and it was excellent, A+! Well worth a 20 spot IMO and I'm sure it saved me at least $20 in gas. Obviously, nothing's the same as being there but this was a close second. The old footgage during the down time is fantastic. That video of the G-man winning at the Grove in the Zemco 11 damn near brought a tear to my eye. Well done dirt station! Great race at Lincoln as well. Enjoyed the interview with Rico. That man's a class act and a great racer. Glad he's able to come in and race a few.

My only gripe/question about the dirt station broadcast is that there didn't appear to be a button to launch chromecast so I could watch on my TV so I had to watch on my laptop screen.

After being at Lincoln last night (which was an awesome atmosphere and the biggest crowd I've ever seen there) I wish there was a PPV tonight for Grandview. I could possibly get there, but I've been there for this type of crowd before, which it doesn't have the room for, and having to work tomorrow I can't deal with how long it might take to get out of there tonight. However, I would still like to witness the historic stretch that is going on with Larson and what should just be a great night of racing. I would gladly pony up for a PPV tonight if there was one.
I will be interested to see what the crowds are like at the end of the week (will be at Port Royal and the Grove) after Larson and Kahne are no longer on the Speedweek trail. I know Speedweek always draws good crowds, but the ones so far this week are on another level.

Ski goggles for the turn 1 hill or just sit under the covered grandstand which is usually dust free. I actually used the goggles at Port last week too. IMO Grandview is way worse and Big Diamond was the dustiest ever.

Great, except the only streaming price mentioned was Lincoln's and your complaint was that streaming cost too much.

24.95 is more than I will pay for a speedweek race but I think 19.95 was reasonable and the broadcast was fantastic. Who knows how much it costs the production team to put on a high quality live stream but I doubt they are making a lot of money. I'm just glad they do it. I don't like doing long drives and dealing with huge crowds anymore. BTW, I think it's a little bit of a rip off that some speedweek tracks now charge $25 admission and still only pay the minimum $5000 to win purse. Look at the crowds the last few nights, they should give a little more back to the teams putting on the show IMO. Every team that runs all 10 nights should get at least a $1000 bonus from the point fund. That's a lot of races and a lot of money spent. There's a lot of money being made during SW but it's not the teams who are making it. Since Port and Lincoln get 2 dates and 1 of them being a prime Saturday date, they should step up and pay 10G for 1 of the nights like the Grove does. This is 2017, not 1997.
