With Scott basically thumbing his nose at all the young talent in his own backyard ( look at how many National 410 Rookies come out of PA ) made me wonder .......... how far would Kevin Gobrecht had made if owners like Bob Stewart ( Apple car ) and John & Pee Wee ( Zemco car ) would have not given the local talent a shot ?
Maybe the Dietz kid left a bad taste in his mouth and now the rest of the up and comers are paying the price for that failed venture. Things that make you go .....Hmmm

Sounds like it was truly a joint venture between Scott and JSM and the common denominator between those two teams is Trey. You see more and more partnership type deals all over the country and this is no different. Also sounds like they're not just running Central PA but some bigger shows elsewhere so someone with experience (as limited as it is) running different parts of the country against different competition lends itself to trying bigger shows. I think you're reading too much into it. An opportunity presented itself to partner up with another team and a great young and up and coming driver.

He also gave Eric Tomecek a chance in the car, so that's a bit unfair to say he thumbed his nose at all the Pa up and comers. I can't really think of a young Pa gun who would have been a better choice for 2017, I'm sure others will disagree. Pretty sure the Zemco guys just put an over 50 driver from Ohio in the car for next year, so did they also thumb their noses at the the young Pa drivers? My suggestion for you Sid would be, go buy/build a 410 team and you can pick any Pa youngster you wish to pilot your car.

Agreed Stagger. If you're going to run a larger schedule and plan on hitting big shows in OH, Midwest possibly, WoO, All Stars, etc. than you may need to go outside the area for a driver. Scott and JSM know Trey, have experience with him and chose him because of his talent and they're history together. I don't see that as thumbing their nose to anyone. I see it as a wise decision...and it really doesn't matter what I think. That's the decision they made for their team.

Fair assessment...
I don't recall Eric in the car tho, When did that take place. After the team split the only driver I recall is Trey.
Scott has the right to put in the car whoever he wants. I just know the talent pool here is deeper than most anywhere else. And lets be honest ... Trey has not looked good in any of his PA races in the car. Not a cheap shot just reality, thats why I said in PA. I really cannot speak for where he wins in the midwest or the talent level at those tracks, never been to them.
Save me a parking spot in the pits next to your team, I'm thinking I'll get a 40' trailer with toter so I'll need about a 65-68' spot :):):)
spcjay.... take it easy, don't take things so personal. It's a DEBATE forum ...only a couple more months till racing resumes

Eric drove the 44 a few times in 2014 , wish Trey the best of luck with the success he had with the 23 the last two years i would bet that led to the team coming together.
BE GOOD TO SEE ANOTHER LOCAL CAR AT THE BIG RACES.

Your right Trey has not done well in Pa but name me any young driver outside of PA who has shown up and done well in Pa. Tony Stewart has claimed it's one of the toughest places in the world to roll into and get a win or even do well so I'm not sure that has, anything to do with it. Let's pretend we both did just start a 410 team, which young Pa talent would you hire? If it was my money and my team I can assure you zipcode would be low on the list of reasons why I would choose one driver over another. Any young driver from Pa I would choose already has a ride.

It would depend on where I would plan to race my team. If I'm planning on running central PA then I'm looking in-house for talent. If I was going to run a mid-west / western schedule I would be looking at the drivers that have had success out that way. My understanding is the team is running 3/4 of their races in PA and will be based out of Hanover.
As far as drivers I would look hard at the Campbell kid. Has looked real good in a limited 410 stint last year. Probably run 10-12 races ( ? ) . He made everyshow I was at . I was there the night he came up a lap short of winning it. And I think he had a 3rd or 4th ( 4th I think ) a couple weeks before that. Then set fast time at the Kahne race the 1st time he run a 410 at Lincoln. Run top 5 most the race. finished with a top 10. There was a boat load of talent at that race. Hard not to sit up and take notice of that run.
But if onehunglow is correct in that he heard Campbell decided to stay with the family car I would be looking very hard at Doug Hammaker. I really think he is ready. Proven himself in the 358's for sure. Would be exciting in a 410 would be my opinion. They are the only 2 I think are ready to make the move to 410's at this time.
Out in the mid-west.... Carson Marcedo ( ? spelling ) or Dominic Selzi would be my 1st choices.
I enjoy watching the young guys come up and make a name for themselves. There's just a different excitement in the stands when the youngsters do well vs. the 20 year guy. Remember everyone hated Petty and Earnhardt..... until they retired and passed on. Now they are back to hero status. :)

Eric was the first driver of the 44. Eric and Gobrechts firts race was in 2014 at Fred Rahmers first promoted race at path Valley in 2014. They only ran a few races. The following season Chase Dietz was the hired gun.
