I agree with Gravel, unfortunatly where he's at now he will be the best 5th place car in the Country. Ask Rahmer, McMahon,Smith, or Swindell.

Good topic and points.

What does underrated mean? Reading through the previous posts it seems that this means, a driver who isn't on the WOO tour but could be.

I'd really have to take Brown off this list b/c everyone knows he is good and has great equipment and partners, and possibly zomer, although obviously not on the same level as Brown, ...YET. And maybe take Gravel off this list. Apparently someone saw his talents and decided to give him a top notch ride.

I'd probably even take Hirts off this list too. You don't get a ride from Roth, and then race for Monte by being an underated driver.

From a midwest fan's perspective I'd have to say Justin Henderson. I have no clue the backing they have but based upon what they roll up with at Knoxville, it's not a large operation. If we're using the bench mark of the WOO, I could really see him placing in the top ten. People knock the WOO but the top 5 in points through out the season are all really, really good.

Actually was going to use Henderson as my example, but chose Wolfe instead, so good pick for sure.

Sheldon - He's gotten a lot of attention and praise in the past couple years, expecially after the year he had last year. It won't be long before he becomes a favorite to win the ASCoC championship, IMO.

Zomer - What everyone else said. Awesome racer and great person.

Krimes - I'll always pull for the bottom feeders. Watching a guy slow down and win a race on the low side when everyone else is blasting around the top is very satisfying. Krimes does it as well as anybody in PA.

Schuchart - Really thought he was gonna pick up his first win a few weekends ago. Ended up 2nd, with JA finishing 3rd. If he was put in a car with a little more leeway I think he could really shine.

Loyet - I'm admittedly a bit of a homer. I've know Brad for a long time and raced with him on many occasions. He's a great guy, and an extremely hard worker. Not to mention he's won in every car he's ever been in. He obviously needs more experience in a 410 to be competitive, but I think he will get there with time.

Clauson - Obviously he's the guy to beat in non wing competition, but I don't think he gets enough for how quickly he's adapted to winged racing. He's a threat every night he shows up to a track. Just a fantastic racer, and a super nice guy.

Excellent thread with good comments and feedback all around. I agree with the previous poster about distinguishing the difference between "up and coming" and "underrated"

Thanks and thanks.  Gonna make another thread in a day or two re: Young Up and Coming Drivers (it was in the back of my mind to do as well).

Alan Krimes - probably the best down low rider at Lincoln.

Billy Pauch Jr - can wheel just about anything with good results.  Too bad he doesn't drive a 410.

David Gravel - He leaves everything on the track, every lap, every race.

I agree. I like this kid. Only seen him out here at t-cup and WoO shows but, the kid is fast in every car Ive seen him in. Was stoked when he got the win in tulare in march.

Brian Bown........With good backing??????!!!!!!

I guarentee he has more backing and money behind him than 80% of any of the guys on the Outlaw trail already.  Trust me, he has good backing already.

right on, and is really good spokesman for what he gets. Backs many company events.

After watching the Jack Gunn memorial at Selinsgrove Speedway, I have to throw out Mark Smith and TJ Stutts as underrated drivers, they both have had success as 410 drivers and now predominantly 360 rides, I truly believe these 2 could hang with big dogs if they had the right opportunity. While I'm at Robbie Stillwagon is no joke either.

Agreed on all three. Mark already proved years ago that he can hang with anyone when he has a 410 under the hood and Stutts has been fast in the majority of his 410 starts the past few years as well despite primarily running 360's. I know T.J. had two 410 wins at Selinsgrove back in 2006 when he drove for Gary Beam. Robbie Stillwaggon doesn't run much 410 stuff but is usually impressive when he does. I think he too would make some noise if he ran 410's regularly.
