-What do you mean Gary? I think you should get in free since you do some many important functions for the GSC series!

-Gary Thomas' involvement and writing has been very influential in putting California winged sprint car racing on the map and finally sprint car racing on the West Coast is getting the respect it deserves!

Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!

Winged sprintcars = the fastest and most exciting
racecars on dirt!

What are we talking about here? Don't tell me you (Gary) is going to pay to get in Ocean to do PR for Golden State. You best let me know.

I know he paid to get in at Antioch and with Ocean's tuff stance with pace trucks and the media figured the same would apply there. Maybe you guys can hook him up with an officials card.

My John sent the list to Anticoh and Ocean, so don't know what the hell their problem is.

Good way to get PR for GSC huh? Maybe they don't want a GSC event. John said he will call tomorrow. I wonder if they know about the MSPA? Do they let Newspapers, Sports directors in or do they pay? Incredible. Sure happy we don't run our places like that. Oh well

If Gary had talked to the security guard at the pit gate he would have found his name on the list there. I saw it. He should not have paid. He must have asked the wrong questions when he went to the pit sign-in window.

As someone who has been there, done that, sometimes you need to make some calls beforehand to confirn or press til you get a radio conversation. If its all good on the back end, the word will come down coreectly.

If someone doesnt give you the right answer, go to the next one til they answer correctly.

If nuthin else go straight to the promoter and have a direct conversation. And be polite, lol...

I did NOT received ONE thing from GSC this year!!!! So PLEASE if there is something about somebody getting in the back gate for free it would be a GOOD idea to call me BEFORE thursday.

Mr. Prentice, I am not trying to be RUDE as you said, I just don't understand when you come on here and see the PR Gary does, why would there be a question. It is hard enough in this day and age to get good PR for anything and we think we are blessed to have Gary doing such a great job. At least he doesn't have to worry about our places, we welcome him on our staff.

Al - Your right about going to the next level. The thing with Antioch is security wou't let you go to the next level. They will just escort you out if you question them. Beleive me I have seen it happen.

I did not mean to imply Gary had already been turned away at Ocean Speedway. Given their position on media and the back gate I think he felt the same thing would happen. As you said Robbie, Gary does an invaluable service for the GSC and Northern California sprint car racing. He should not have to pay someone to be allowed to do PR work for them. No media professional should! As I said before, promoters could do well to take a few lessons from the JPM playbook. They are not perfect but they have a very good working machine.

Ocean Speedway did have representation at the MSPA banquet this year, so they do know what it is and what it is about. Mr Prentice, I know you have your "own guy" doing your photos and stories, but I do not see anything being put out there for your track. At least not with respect to sprint car racing. And I do read most all of the major sprint car news sights daily. Stories and photos do not just draw in a few hundred more fans for your big races. If gives them an opportunity to see the facility. This could result in people returning again and again for even the regular friday night shows. Racers also see the photos and stories and start talking about the track. Well written articles and well placed photos can do a lot to attack more teams to you big events that would otherwise go elsewhere.

I talked to the people at the pit gate in Antioch and they directed me to the security guard where he told me that my name was not on any list. I asked the right question, it must have not gone through to the security guy looking through the paper work though.

I'm very appreciative that both JPM and Tulare Thunderbowl have been so good to me. In fact I usually haven't had any trouble anywhere except for this past weekend. I think I'm good to go for this weekend now though.

By the way, thanks for the replies. :)

Gary - Your name WAS on one of the many sheets of paper that the security guard had. This was a simple mistake that cost you. They should have all the names on one sheet of paper but they did not. That would be something for them to consider doing so this does not happen again.
