I watched on FLO. The first 20 minutes was people standing around talking instead of racing. Per a twitter post apparently one of the speakers said somethign to the extent of "i don't care if there is rain in the area". Sure enough, you lost your feature. Not trying to show disrespect for the significance of the evening but that is a big WOW if it is true.

Hey look, WingedStrawser has come in for his weekly Port bashing.  If you don't like it stay home.  You must be the most insufferable human being on Earth. I'll give you one thing though. Unlike your brother Strawser, you at least go to the track. And no, O'Neal didn't say he did not care if there was rain coming.  He said something like " I don't like public speaking so I'll try to get through this because I know there is weather coming" or something along those lines.  Yes, the track conditions kinda blew but you don't see me being a whiny little brat and creating a thread to cry.  You and your brother do it all the time. You are like broken records, two peas in a miserable pod, lol.

i don't understand the port bashing either.  i saw one of the semifeatures and dewease and marks had a good battle.  my favorite comment about port that didn't make any sense was "the only way to pass is through a bunch of sliders".  i thought that was how you pass on dirt?

True, it was blowing dust down the straights badly by the the end of the semi-features but the racing wasn't bad by any means. Who knows how it would have held up for the features? The feature racing there has surprised me many times before after I thought the track was used up, so I'll give the track the BOD here. They've earned it. I agree about the messing around, showed no urgency to get the show in at all. Maybe it wouldn't have mattered, but they would have at least got the sprint feature started and maybe completed if there weren't many cautions.

I really like the format for the dream race! The $2000 to win 15 lap semi-features are much more interesting than heats that pay nothing. The double heat/passing point system is unfortunately becoming more and more poular for big shows but that's 16 laps of heat racing that pays nothing and puts the fastest cars upfront(see lincoln last wednesday). I wish tracks would ditch that and use a format like the dream race for their big shows.

Do you EVER HAVE ANYTHING GOOD TO SAY ABOUT PORT ROYAL??? You are worse than a 16 year old Drama Queen with PMS. If every driver in the entire world said Port Royal is a Great track wth a Great Pre Race track Prep you would bitch saying they were paid to say that.

Lincoln when the WOO were there last, was terrible, and was a frigging train with NO PASSING worth talking about, I didnt hear one word from you or your Alter Ego about the terrible track conditions, and if you did comment on it, it wasnt worth talking about because it was so miniscule.

Do us all a favor stop trashing Port Royal week in and week out because I for one am tired of all you negative Bullshit.  The drivers dont bitch about it and they keep going back, so Port Royal must be doing something right.  In fact when the drivers do comment on how GOOD the track was/is you turn around and say the track sucked.

if anyone else is tired of thess 2 or 1 guy with 2 logins commenting about Port Royals sucky track feel free to chime in.  Like I stated earlier Im tired of all his Bullshit comments week in and week out about how bad Port is and How good Lincoln is even when Lincolns track sucks ass

I just wish all tracks would figure out that you can't run hot laps in a half hour when you only put eight cars out for each session like they did when each division all went out a the same time.

Both Lincoln and Port got really poor crowds this week for $10k to win races. Just too many big events in PA and PA speedweek and the woo shows will always get the crowds. I know Covid screwed things up but the scheduling especially for Lincoln made no sense having 3 events in a row pay 10k to win.

Agree. In fact the last three races at Lincoln have had dismal crowds. The WoO race is usually a money maker for Lincoln and that night (weather was all around the area)  the crowd looked on the small side especially for an Outlaw show. Did anyone else notice that since the reboot from Covid that all of Lincoln's races have been a minimum of $20 admission price? That could be a factor as fans just don't have the desposable income like before to spend on entertainment. Port Royal has also been holding a steady schedule of "special shows" with increased admission prices...Just food for thought.

So you hate passing? That's very weird that you're a racing fan and you hate passing.

Nah, he doesn't hate passing at all.  It's just that he, like his brother WingedStrawser, has dug himself such a "Port bashing" hole that neither is man enough to admit that they are wrong, quite a bit. But that's ok because they are so blinded by their own misery to realize that we are all laughing at them. Keep it coming boys, we enjoy the good laughs you provide.

They got what they wanted????

First Off- The ceremony was not for the board. The board was not what was getting patted on the back. The ceremony was for Don Clark, whose last gift to the speedway as he was dying of Cancer was to get the grants approved to get the new tunnel, the grandstands and infield changes.

Yes, I understand fully that weather was coming and everyone knew of it. But it's also the living legends dream race and they honored a man resposnible for the event continuing, for the track prospering and who is the litteral reason the track sits the way it does today. Otherwise, you might be looking at a housing development or a campground.

Secondly...they got what thewy wanted? Did you know that by getting all the qualifying in, which they pushed to do, allowed the track to pay out over $20,000 to the drivers for their time in the semi features and more? If they don't get that B-Main in, not only do the fans get screwed, but the drivers get nothing but extra laps on their motors and wasted gas and tire bills.

They still paid out everything except for the features, which were added to other events at no extra cost to fansd admission wise with a complete $50,000 purse between the two divisions. I understand %100 that fans are upset. Nobody wants to drive to go home early and feel like they wasted money....but at the end of the day they were calling for a %40 chance of rain since 4pm EST and it didn't hit until after 9. They got lucky it didn't wash out completely and yet they tried their damndest to get it in.

Thirdly...yes it was dusty. More so than usual. But with expected showers in the horizon and a thought that it might be an issue throughout the night, they didn't water the track too much expecting it to be plenty wet as is. If they'd went hard on the water, you'd have been looking at a mud hole if things ever got the chance to get back going.

Well said. I have to laugh at people who go to the races on a night when there is a really good chance of rain, then bitch when the rain ends the night prematurely, lol.  It's as comical as Strawser and WingedStrawser's posts on here.  And I'm always amazed by the people who claim to have been attending races for many years but don't know that rain checks are invalidated once qualifying races are completed. Pretty sure it's that way at most tracks and has been for as long as I can remember.

If you were to look at the Venn diagram of "dirt track fans" and "people who believe everything is a conspiracy", it would damn near make one perfect circle.

They do time trials like pretty much all big races but instead of having heats, they split the field in half and have 2 15 lap semi features that have their own complete purses($2000 to win). They inverted the top 4 and then line up the rest by time. The top 10 from each sem-feature qulaifies for the A main and the other 4 qualifiers come from the B-main which is lined up from the 11 on back finishers from each semi. The top 4 from each semi-feature re-drew for the A main. IMO that's a great format. I'll take it over heats, double heats, passing points anyday.... and the teams actually get paid twice!

Weather forecast is always an x factor when it comes to crowd size. Don't forget tracks are also making some coin from the streaming broadcasts too. I think $20 is a reasonable price nowadays, especially if the purse is increased.
