Really surprised to see Selinsgrove running shows against the Outlaws at the Grove and the All Stars at Lincoln if Port runs that night it would be three tracks fans surely will not travel up dont know where they will get cars. Hope it works out the Nace should be ok paying $20,000 again but still a tuff choice for fans with the Outlaws at Lernerville and the All Stars at Eldora.(Looks like Shawn is putting in some time with the promotion the law service has been at Port for a few years).

Not sure many Central Pa cars or fans would travel all the way to Eldora for the final regular All Star race and maybe two or three teams would have gone to Learnerville even if Selinsgrove wasn't running. They should be fine attracting a full field of locals and maybe some surprise outsiders for $20,000 to win. They are also running a big Dirt Late Model race on May 16th while the Grove has the Outlaws....appealing to a totally different crowd. However running the 410's on August 29th against Lincoln is somewhat of a head scratcher.....I can only assume that Port Royal will not have the 410's that night as well.... Overall, I like Selinsgrove's 2020 schedule. A nice variety for the fans.

I think he was talking July 25 - Summer Nationals @ Williams Grove ---- 410 Summer Championship and Late Models at Selinsgrove.

I believe the dates being discussed here are July 25th when the Outlaws are at Williams Grove and on August 29th when the All Stars are at Lincoln.
August 29th is the $50,000 to win Lucas Oil race at Port Royal so highly doubt they'll have sprint cars that night.
But yea, head scratchers.

Thank you Selinsgrove Speedway for thinking outside the box.
We as fans and racers need to support Selinsgrove on these nights.
We need to support the track so we have a track to support !
Also the Outlaws are not always the end all be all.
Plus how many times does a person need to see the same Outlaws race at the Grove.

I agree. Most WOO shows in Pa are down right BORING!! Time trials, fastest guy on pole for 8 lap heat {no passing} Then no passing dash. The only one i attend anymore is at Lincoln. Last yr thought All Stars were better than Woo. Just my opinion

That’s because most WoO shows in Pa are at Williams Grove, the track mostly stinks.

I have to agree that generally the WoO heats are kind of boring with the heads up starts. However the features are generally entertaining for the most part.....The old addage that I rather go to a weekly show where the heats and features are inverted and in the "good old days" the feature winner came from 12th are long gone.....80% of the feature winners in Central Pa for a weekly show usually come from the first two rows. The days of "Fast Freddie" or "The Man from Mifflintown" coming from way back do not exsist in today's modern sprint car racing.....That being said, nothing beats the atmosphere at Williams Grove when the Outlaws come to town.

Fans can support whoever or whatever they want. They do not NEED to support any specific place. If some want to support one track because of either distance or they like whatever is on their schedule then fine. But if other fans want to support another track on the same date because they like what they have they are allowed too. Tracks & series make the schedule and fans can decide wherever they want to spend their money without hearing the shaming or guilt trip that if they do not support another track then it may go out of business. Its not like the Outlaw's really change the dates at the Grove each year, all tracks in the area knew when they would have a race there. They are the ones who take the risk of having something else on their schedule those dates.

Probably alot of the disgruntled Port Royal season reserved seat holders will go to Selinsgrove on Aug. 29th.

The Irony of Reality...praising a fictitious race at Selinsgrove over a boring race with "no passing". The excitement of 410s at Selinsgrove has been a tradition of attrition.
Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

37th ????? - forgot a few digits...maybe 6 or 7 digits
But me thinks it's no coincidence that the heads-up format finds it's way into most threads. The elephant in the room.

The Saturday format at the Kings Royal is sick. Except for the joust bullshit. But the heat format leads to some of the most intense racing all year long. It's right up there with Knoxville qualifying nights as far as pressure goes.

It's a bit risky having 410's on those 2 dates but we have 2 tracks running 410's on Saturday night nearly every week and it works out OK. Getting enough cars and fans to travel to Selinsgrove on those dates instead of their normal track will be tough however. The schedule looks great to me. Given the challenges they have been facing the past couple years drawing cars for the weekly divisions, they have come up with a nice variety and a pretty full schedule of special shows for nearly every division on dirt. Of course they are taking a bit of a risk with all the higher paying shows. Hope it works out. I'm still of the opinion that they would draw more cars if the track was a tad smaller and racier. Nonetheless, I'll be at most of these shows given that it's my hometown track.

After thinking about this for a few days, I completely understand running the 410's on August 29th against Lincoln and The All Stars, with Port Royal running the big LOLMS $50,000 to win race, they are basically taking Port's place as an alternative for the 410's that night. However, it is the Saturday July 25th race up against Williams Grove and WoO that makes no sense to me. Out of all the races on Selinsgrove's 2020 schedule, this is the one race that could potentually be a financial disaster in terms of fans and car counts. For as long as I can remember, the central Pa tracks have always worked well together whenever schedulling the Outlaws. The promotors at Williams Grove, Lincoln and Port Royal have always had a "gentlemen's agrreement" to not schedule against each other on those nights. For whatever reason, Selinsgrove has chosen to ignore that agreement on July 25th. It will be very interesting to see how that race turns out for them???? Other than this one race, I think Selinsgrove did a great job of working with the other area tracks in presenting an appealing and diverse schedule for the fans.

Doesn't anyone remember that the Grove use to have the Outlaw shows on Thursday and Friday night. Then for some reason they switched to Friday and Saturday night, thus forcing Port and Lincoln to shut down on nights they use to race.
So what about that gentleman's agreement? Why did the Grove move the nights?
The Grove has the Outlaws six times in one year. How many times can a person watch the same cars and format at the same track? In my opinion the Outlaws race to many times at all tracks in our area.
On a side not I wonder how it is going to work out with the National Open and Port's Outlaw races now on back to back weekends. I predict that fans will have to make the choice on which weekend to attend. Four consecutive nights of racing with high dollar admissions. will be tough on the fans.
Speedweek is unsanctioned and the tracks are packed. Put up a good purse for the end of year races and the cars and fans will show. Especially with more teams choosing a true "Outlaw" schedule. Screw sanctions and use the sanction fee to make the purse better back through. And cheaper tickets or food for the fans, make more money back with volume.
Anyway , Thank you Selinsgrove Speedway.
