Just curious why some are saying good for the WoO to step into a new market considering the risk. Really, is there risk,? Doesnt the local track pay the sanction fee and absorb all risk. What did the WoO have at risk other than some pride in no one showed up? Should we be more please the local track invited the WoO at their risk of loosing a lot?

There is always risk, but I think they were trying a very different market, not from the fact of will sprint car fans come but, what kind of crowd will locals of a metro area turn out. I saw a lot of families with kids just out for a good time. The kids seemed entertained, were trying to figure out the format.  I think the grandstand holds about 15,000, so they had really good crowds. I saw a lot of t-shirts being sold, people seemed to like the concert environment. I had the best race track burger ever, so the food options were good. Someone did a heck of a lot of work.
I think when you start charging upwards of 50 dollars fans are going to expect good comfortable  seats, good food, clean or decent rest rooms, intersting things for kids and adults, good sound systems, racing stars and good races ran with out long delay.

If you can entice a lot of new fans in venues like this, it would be a boost to racers and teams for improved revenues.

The old jalopy tracks that haven't really updated much over the years may have to get with it to win/retain new fans.

Nice to see guys utilizing the fence in 4 during time trails.  Little tricky setting up cars to bang the fence to get quick time lol  Narrow track and laps slower than 1/2 mile tracks.  It's intersting, different, slow, etc, yes. but I feel bad for anyone who went to this race as their first ever sprint car race in person.  Can't imagine their thoughts of sprint cars after Friday night.   Just my 2 cents.

Sat around a group of a dozen asphalt fans from Tennessee that had never seen a sprint car race until Friday. They were having a blast and after the A-main, they were pretty excited for Saturday. Sounds like Saturday didnt disapoint. They were well aware due to the size, the wide open speed couldnt be there, but were impressed none the less. The whole feeling I got there, was everyone was having fun and cheering as cars were slapping that wall and standing on it. Especially Macedo.

Makes sense to me....

Even at the most prestigious tracks, sometimes the pole sitter is too fast & the race is boring. Nothing you can do about it, nature of the beast....

You hit the nail on the head. One thing I'm seeing a lot of these days, are unreal expectations. So many fans seem to think that every race should be a barn burner and that never was, nor will it ever be possible.

Macedo's car was driving him around the track, he was just hanging on!  Good thing there was a fence there or Macedo woulda ended up a county over!!!

Your comment focuses on the end result. This thread was started and there were many comments made during hot laps. Those comments had nothing to do with the end result. The track circumstances were drawing the commentary, not the racing itself.

I think the guy that started the thread was a bit over the top using the word "ashamed". I understand why that would cause someone to be argumentative and defensive.  That said, no seems to want to address what I see is the biggest problem...

Seriously now, how can anyone defend a set up that encourages guys to be putting their right read tire into the wall? I don't understand that at all. I understand it wasn't intentional, but conditions like that just can't be acceptable.

I agree they do not do the track prep so why do so many give them all the credit for trying a dirt track in Nashville. The poor promoter who risked it all gets zero credit. And water control is pretty touchy considering there was a water proof layer a few inches under the surface.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!
