Kevin is just about as un-likable as Sammy.

His comment after his 2nd place finish was,,"After winning 4 of these races, it's

not even fun to finish 2nd".    How condescending .  You can bet there are plenty of

drivers who would've loved to finish 2nd...And I'll bet Kyle Larson wouldn't have made

such a derogatory comment......just sayin !!

What a bunch of BS. So little Larson has accomplished more than Sammy had at 22. Tell me just how many opportunities there were for sprint car drivers at that age to race other kinds of cars back in the '70's. I don't believe Sammy started racing when he was a week old, either. Bottom line, people hate Sammy because he's successful, which seems to be a nasty trend in this country anymore. Now, back to your Kleenex for a bunch of you.

Actually, if you followed the "twitter war", it was more Kevin stirring the pot than anything else.  He came to his father's defense, as any good son would.  But he just wouldn't let it die.  To the point where in one twit he said "These young driver's don't know about respect.  When I started, I knew Steve Kinser would end me."  (Kevin Swindell is 25 years old)

Kyle said what he said on twitter, but he also didn't back down from Sammy in person.  He flat told him "Stop running into my teammates."  There's one video where you can hear him say that and also hear Keith Kunz roar at Sammy "You ain't knocking nobody out!"

Kevin's lack of "racing luck" when it comes to quality rides etc... is less about luck and more about how Kevin carries himself personally.  He's a good driver and what he did at the Chili Bowl is incredible.  I have a ton of respect for his dad and I do respect Kevin.

This comparison of Kyle to Sammy is so comical.  Each of you should look in the mirror and compare yourself to someone else.  You want to feel big, hang out with small people.  You want to feel smart, Hang out with dump people.  As for the video's I'd sure like a link.  Please post it on here because I'd like to hear their conversation.  But one thing Kyle will learn in racing.  If you get in someones business (Teammate or friend), someone might give you a visit.  Bottom line is Sammy has 5 drillers as a driver and 4 as a car owner.  Kyle has 0.  I didn't say Kyle wasn't talented and I didn't say he doesn't have potential.  I like Kyle and I like Sammy.  At the Chili Bowl Kyle needs to learn to pace and then race.  He has had spins and equiptment failure to prove it.  As for the hard feelings between the two, only they know what it is.  I do know they have spent a lot of time together as Kyle was developing his racing skills.  Where will Kyle be at 59 remains to be seen.  As for Sammy we know at 60 he will still be a threat to win the Chili Bowl, he won't back down, and he will race you hard on every lap.  That says a lot.  The Chili Bowl isn't for the meek and mild driver.  If they are there they are done racing Saturday morning and That's a Fact

I never compared anyone to anyone.  You quoted me, but your remarks seem to be pointed at someone else.  I would ask you to leave me out of that portion of your argument.

I have respect for Sammy Swindell as a driver as I previously stated.  I have respect for Kyle Larson as a talent and a rising star.  Luckily I got to watch him on the west coast driving sprint cars before he headed down south for the tin-tops.  Same with Rico.

After re-watching the video, it does appear that it is not Kieth Kunz shouting at Sammy.  It's the young man behind him.

I like Larson but to compare him to A.J. Foyt or other legends is crazy talk to say the least. Heck he isn't even close to being in Tony Stewarts league and if any modern day driver were to be compared to A.J. it would be Stewart. When Larson wins the USAC triple crown points championship, IRL championship, multiple NASCAR Cup championships then maybe he could be compared close to what Stewart has done.

Razz Barlow7 please accept my apology.  I was only referring to the whole thread of the comparison.  My response was not directed at you as you stated.  Please again accept my apology.  YOu are also correct on who was doing the talking.  I was hoping to find an audio.  The man in the red shirt with the goat tee was the one making the threats.  I was talking with Rico and don't recall what was stated.  I don't recall Rico, myself, or Mr Kunz ever saying a word.  As I stated to others I think oters escalated the situation with language and pushing.  Not sure why or what their role was in the incident.  Again My apology for the attachment to your thread.

The Chili bowl is a fast paced high energy race and the fans need to understand these drivers tempers are on edge when they get out of the car.  Congrats to Rico on running a good smooth race.  He did what it took just as Bryan did last year.  If anyone wants to make CB comparisons try this.  Who has 4 wins and 2 2nds in the last 6 years.  That is a record that may never be touched.  Could of, should of,  No traffic and we could have a 6 time winner.  Say what you want but KSwin is the man to beat at the Chili Bowl and every driver knows that.

big wins and championships?

you mean wins like the belleville nationals, the four crown nationals, nationwide series/

championships like the king of california or K&N east?

like i said sammy has done great in winged sprint cars over a 45 year period. but he is still right where he was at 45 years ago.

larson has moved past that in 5 years.

when was sammy ever up for the best performing driver in the world award? twice in a row?

Let me see here, I said big wins:

Knoxville nationals win 1-0

Three Kings Royal wins 3-0

Two Williams Grove National Open wins 2-0

Gold Cup?  Sammy won it before Larson was born, but Kyle does have 2. 1-2

Lernerville Silver Cups?  3-0

Chilli Bowl?  4-0

Championships:

Sammy 3 Woo 3-0

So Mr. Larson has a K&N east championship?  Good for him.  He also did this with support from the EGR cup team while he was running in a feeder division.

I'm not taking anything away from the kid, but to say he has surpassed Sammy whether you like him or not is just mind boggling to me.

Belleville nationals????  Lets talk about the top tier of dirt racing please.   Sammy (and all the other big name Sprint drivers) were busy winning big money races in Sprints.  You will never see a Wolfgang, Swindell, Schatz, or Kinser winning that race.  Because they are out winning bigger races.  Sorry to be blunt but that's the truth

And you apparently aren't smart enough to get Mr. Buzz's point, that he has accomplished much more than Swindell has already. Big deal that he hasn't won a Cup event yet? That's not the point. How many Cup starts does Sammy have? top fives in Cup? top tens in Cup or Nationwide? And it's not exactly like Larson is running for one of the top Cup teams either...

LOLOLOLOLOLOL.......  I don't even know how to respond to this....  They really need to enforce the age requirements for this forum.

ALL of Sammys success was with Exclusive help with Tommy Sanders and Ken Jenkins

Yawn! That is such a boring old line of bullshit...

I hate Sammy because he is successful.

Thats it. You called me out. It isn't the fact that he has continually demonstrated himself to be an absolute arrogant jerk on innumerable occasions or that he has ZERO respect for safety of fellow racers. Nope couldn't be that at all. It's all because he is successful that's why. It's not because he whines like a little spoiled bitch when he doesn't get his way. It's not because he thinks he can dish out shit and then thinks it unnacceptable for anyone else to dish it back. Nope its his success. Which is weird cause I have the utmost respect for some of the - best all time - drivers the sport has known and yet I don't hold any contempt for their success on the track or in life.

Continue believing whatever fantasty makes you happy pal. The guy you love just happens to be a repeat offending douche. He could've been the most accomplished racer ever and I would still find his behavior abhorent. Success doesn't give anyone a free pass to be an arrogant asshole.

Cheers!

Agree Henry.

I've been watching Sammy for 30-some years now.  I've tried to like him, but the "get out of my way/always someone else's fault" bully bullshit has long since gotten old.  I'm glad these young guys aren't eating his shit and getting intimidated anymore.

The reason Sammy and son were not able to be successful beyond sprint cars can be found when they both look in the mirror.

Good luck to Kyle in the 24hrs/Daytona.  Good luck to Sammy and son - whatever they'll be doing this weekend....

Apparently they do, because apparently you're not old enough to understand either.    Sammy hasn't accomplished any of those things and Larson has....  Let me know if I need to slow it down even more for you.

+1.

There is a reason people don't like Sammy.

Sammy can make it thru turns 3-4 at the Grove on thw ram up lap...but what does that pay compared to NASCAR?

If I had a Larson shirt...I'd still be waiting for the opportunity to thriw it down across the bleachers.

Sammy = 2 thrown shirts

Larson = 0

I have been reading this site for a few years and finally decided to jump in to the carnage .  Different people have different ideas of what success is . Kyle will never be the sprint car driver that Sammy WAS, maybe if he had not went the way of stock cars it could be a different story. Kyle chose to go where the big money is and who can blame him and of course that will take away from his open wheel resume .
