More Beef!!!! With The "Wild Child"

Now that is cool. Back before the rule book was 2 inches thick. Just a few like this beats an infield full of spec, restricted, regulated, nearly idencticle, underpowered and ugly cookie cutters like everyone seems to want these days. Eat your heart out 360 lovers.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

I'd like to save this to my screen saver. Could you email it to me or is it somewhere I could save it from?

I got it off my Buddy Ted Van-Pelt's flicker site I can give you the link. There are tons of awesome photos that Ted took himself ... Enjoy. This photo is at the very bottom on the right.

Talk about gtting away from the cookie cutters of today. The LLoyd Pocket rocket of 1982 was far from the norm.

I miss Hillenburg at the outlaw races. That last year he ran (2001) was his best ever but that crash he took at Eldora that kept him out for a few weeks made him realize that he needed to quit. He was about at his peak when he quit though. I miss not seeing Scott Chilcutt's #4m mIn car with Shane Stewart at the races as well. Had a lot of fun visiting with those guys the times I got to see them race.

For the wingless set, I and many others I'm sure missed not seeing that yellow and black #92 at the races this year.

I caught a photo some years back of the #33 restored to it's original configuration without the roll cage.

Hope I'm not stepping on any toes but if I remember right that would be Carmen Manzardo (sp). He showed at Knoxville one year and I think put it in the main. Big block, heavy modifed chassis and all. It was just as I became interested in oval stuff so it must be early eighties. Even had coils on the front.

Geez, I had fun.

As I noted earlier,I've missed seeing the family 92 minus the wing this summer. I've only seen Daron run just a few times this year, once with the wing (rained out a couple other times) and a couple times without.

The one time I saw him run with the wing, there was hardly any noise from the fans in the stands, yet a couple weeks later without the wing on he was easily the fan favorite. Without the wing on its easy to see why he is a fan favorite just by looking at any photo of him. Most times there isnt to much contact with tires on the ground. At times just one will be in contact with the racetrack,as he has the hammer down!!
