I do agree that there should be a point fund, simply because it is the right thing to do. Remember that Ohio tracks constitute fully one third of the All Star schedule, and Ohio drivers have won the last eighteen consecutive All Star titles.

Great point Scoop!!!!!!!!

What do you know ? You're not from Iowa. LOL ! Certainly two of the best points made yet. You sir have said it all !

-The bottom line is not about what you spend on "your racers" it's about what you spend on your "calendar girls 2009 Ohio tour". Sanctions profits minus appearance fees, plus travel and lodging costs for 4 models, equals zero point fund. Maybe someone from the Zemco crew caught one of the free frisbees or t-shirts the girls tossed out. I'm sure they were happy with that instead.

...can't wait to hear the "iowa informer" put his spin on this one...
...as a fan, I thought the competition level of 2009 OSW was great...I will continue to support our Ohio racetracks and the drivers that choose to race at them even if I have to pay the extra $ for 6 drivers and a t-shirt trailer...it's too bad that the sanction making money off them does not appreciate them as well...would a $2000 to win -winner take alll champion bonus- really be that hard to part with ? I would thing that having the afore mentioned models out here all week easily cost them at least $100 a day per girl...thats $3200 for eight days of selling late model calendars at a SPRINT speed week ???...not sure the logic behind this one, but I'm sure I"ll be told soon...

I think Stevie would have not cared about the points fund if he would of won the 10k to win at Fremont but that didn't happen so he was probably let down alittle. I can't say I would't have been myself.

I'd guess they make way more than that on brass poles. Not that I don't appreciate that form of gymnastics....but it was pretty freaking tacky which I suppose is par for the course.

OK Bryan,
Please show me hard evidence that FAST has affected car counts and fan attendance at Attica and Fremont. Who is racing there now because of FAST? What is the difference, in numbers, in 2009 from 2008?
You talk of response from fans, drivers and sponsors being "100% positive". What does that mean in bottom line terms, other than you get a pat on the back and "attaboy" accolades? I think it's great that your fan club has been able to help local drivers...there needs to be more like it...but the overall effect on the sport is nil. Again, if you can show hard evidence to the contrary, I'm willing to listen.
Where is FAST when a race team or one of its people REALLY needs a helping hand financially? Like him or not, the person that owns the All Stars has been there to help with numerous people, numerous times. He'll probably get on me for saying this but it's true.
Damed right the All Stars series will talk up its point fund. $50k to win, with races in Ohio, PA, West Virginia, Florida, Missouri, Kansas and South Dakota. Those teams that are loyal to the series and do the travel deserve the loot. And, of course, it matters when you throw that kind of money out in a point fund. It's apples and oranges when compared to what you are trying to do.
Again, as for a lack of a point fund at Speedweek, it has been proven that there was no effect on car count or fan attendance, which is the reason for a point fund in the first place. There WAS, however, some pretty good money involved to get All Stars teams to the track, as well as some outside guys who made all or some of the races. Is it better to pay up front or after? Seems that a pretty good decision was made when looking at the results.
|
What I want to know is what is the difference, in numbers, in 2009 from 2008 sprint car drivers following the All Star Circuit? FAIL!

As for Millstream never running again under current ownership ,,,,,,,,We'll just wait and see. I can't imagine after the overflow crowd at Millstream that they would pull the plug but we'll see. They raked in some serious cash at the Millstream race last Sunday!!!!!!!

I'd suggest going out and talking to the man yourself.

Maybe there ready to sell the place I don't know? It would be a great investment from the races the last 2 years.

well i hope for that kind of money the 2010 calendar has all the days on it. i paid $15 for that piece of crap they sold last year. once september hits i will be a day early for a lot of holidays and birthdays. at least this year they decided to put race cars on it (if you call late models a race car) instead of push trucks and a tractor tire. i think Miss August was voted "trailer trash barbie" by the guys where i work. money well spent if you ask me.

No moron...I canceled the last two weeks of the show because I had other things to do. The show goes back on tomorrow night. My relationship with DIRTVision and The World of Outlaws is quite solid.

WOW, I stopped calling people names when I entered jr. high.. 20+ years ago.... mature! Do your advertisers know how much you flap your mouth on boards like this...? Not great for PR I would have to say, but then again, you are only a talking head, not anyone who matters....

You ever have to do something for an employer that you didn't feel right about? I can't speak for the man, but I think that was the situation that he was in.

I think I'm hearing dueling banjo's. People are going to go to Speedweek because of the prestige, It's been around for what 30+ yrs. Myself if ya had a point fund in the past those in charge should do what they can to keep that in place. Doe's anybody want to throw money away for that, I don't know. Everyone these days say the dash is meaningless, Maybe so, There was a time that they accrued points for that & had the top 10 cars in a dash @ Eldora for 10,000 grand. What happened there. Was a time back in the day where the top 4 qualifiers would race in something called a trophy dash. Things change & not for the better, Thats the way it goe's.

Of all the posts made since his last, Johnny Know-it-all picked this one to address.
