Wow!  You folks blaming Gravel and coming down hard on him can't see this clearly?  Do you really think he did this intentionally?  Do you really think that at 130+mph he would take the chance of taking them both out of contention for the win?  On top of that, the guy appologized like no other driver has apologized to the crowd... a hometown crowd for the guy he spun out and you still think he did it on purpose?  I have been following racing for 40 years and have heard very few apologies and never one to this extent.  He said he felt ashamed!  By the way, I am from Pennsylvania and I am not a Gravel fan and I was at the race.  I would have loved to see them battle it out for the remaining laps, but that did not happen.  What I did witness was a racing incident and a man stand up and take ownership of an unintentional mishap.  I gained a lot of respect for David Gravel Saturday Night.

Gravel was trying to make a 20 second lap skating rink interesting.  Tough to do

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

ran out of talent?

IF it was intentional it took tons of talent to pull off such a smooth move.

if Gravel ran out of talent how was he able to win the other 4 races he won this year? I'd say that was all on talent.

From the tone of his apology, sounds like it was a mistake & he regrets it... Sh&% happens...

But I wonder if he offered a cut of the 50 G??? doubt it!

Thanks to google I can add this:

1 mph = 17.6 inches per second

120 mph = 2,112 inches per second

Smith braking from 2112 inches per second to, say, maybe 90 mph/ 1580 inches per second

And Gravel approaching Smith at, say, 2,000 feet per second

=not a whole hell of a lot of time to react

When you throw the math at it, it's a wonder it doesn't happen more often.

These guys can drive!

I have a hard time looking out the window at 35 mph and not hitting the car in front of me.

Nice fuzzy math. Smith was faster than Gravel and Gravel lost his head after Smith went by him.

They don't even know how to spell sprint car much less chromoly...http://www.ycmco.com

Maybe this is payback for all those times Rahmer took out an under funded teams on his way to a $3,000 payout.

1 or 2 guys are making excuses, you continue to generalize and throw every fan from Pennsylvania under the bus because of a couple of cry babies. You win, everyone from Pennsylvania is a backward ass, no good, Posse loving, blind, mindless, dimwit, we get it. How dare anyone from Pennsylvania believe that maybe, just maybe, if Gravel would have been a bit more careful it would have been settled on the track not with a spin out, Hell Gravel himself admitted it was his fault and he was sorry. Yes thats right it was Gravels fault according to Gravel, did he mean to do it? I doubt it, but he didnt try very hard to keep it from happening either, sooo maybe some Posse fans think it was intentional, SO WHAT, if you guys woud just ignore Cubicdollars he would probably go away, but you guys cant, so you end up making fools of yourselves going back and forth with the 5th grade name calling and cubicdollars and others are laughing at you idiots because you take the bait everytime. Will you guys ever learn, its just racing, not that important at the end of the day if your just a spectator like we all are. end of rant, continue fighting children.

Thats Racing at a high rate of speed for 50,000. Stevie should have ran his own Race and not blocked David and it would have been a good last ten laps. Glad David got the win. Young man is on the rise, and will be a serious contender next season for the Championship.

He wasn't blocking you stupid ass. He was slowing down to run the bottom. WG has long, high speed straights but tight turns so yiu have to get on the binders to run the bottom.

I don't think it was anything blatant or intentional. I don't think anyone gets into someone on purpose because you can just as easy take yourself out. Just a racing deal that happened when a less experienced driver has a very fast car racing for the win in a big race. Gravel is a good youg driver in a topnotch, high $, outlaw ride. Having said that, IDK if you want too race too close with him. Ask Donny, Stevie or Logan Wagner(at lernerville).

Wow here we go with the hammerhead video forensic experts and the "never been behind a wheel" flatulence again.

Bottom line is Gravel has cemented his dirty dave moniker. This isnt the first incident hes been involved in and it wont be the last considering all the WoO weiner touchers who applaud this behavior.

Smith lifted early.... Gravel drove in deeper.... what ever you like. 50k will produce some hard close racing. Damn good race and there was some crazier action earlier with blocking and door shuting sliders.

Gravel handled it perfectly in the interview.........Schatz is an asshole wink

I tell it like I see it.

Wow all this bitching and moaning about nothing. If you cant see that Smith checked up on entry you're completely blind by homerism. For Christ sake take this loss like men and lick your wounds then move on. There is nothing to see here folks.

Spoken by someone who's never been to WG. You HAVE to check up on entry into the turns at WG(especially turn 1) or you will be going for a ride. We're talking about 140+ mph down the long straights and probably half that speed in the tight turns. Running the bottom means checking up even more. An experienced driver would have anticipated this and not got into the back of him. I know it was just hard racing for 50G and not an intentional take out, but I just don't think a Schatz, Kinser, Pittman, Dewease, Hodnett, etc., any good driver with more experience at WG, gets into the back of a guy entering a turn. Oh well it made for some good drama. A close race to the checkers would have been better though. I respect the fact that Gravel owned up to it and he's right, you're racing for an inch there and he misjudged it by a tad and just barely got into the back of Stevie. It can be a 140 mph game of inches. 1st to 9th isn't much of a consolation to Stevie and the team though, but he's class act as is David.

Who cares where hes from. hes some internet forum warrior obviously looking for attention/recognition. Probably 400 lbs with a neckbeard on his double and tripple chin , no friends , no love life and no money to actually go out and watch a race.

All True, after his constant hard on for anyone from Pa, I just want to know what state hes from, and as you can see he is to much of a lil bitch to admit it, or his Mommy made him get off the computer for the night and go put away his toy story dollies that he likes to play with.

additionally the line about not knowing talent if it hit them in the ass whent right over your head.

considering the topic at hand it shows just how dense you are.

getting shots in on the posse in this thread is like shooting fish in a barrel.

hell look at all the holes in you.

some of you people claim that cubic and BRR hook people with their posts yet all it took was one little sarcastic line to pull you in.

so lets see what you have, i'm not impressed at all yet.
