I used to have two of Bob's spring fronts. One was the Four Wheel Performance 98 that Earl Wagner once drove with a big block Chevy in it. It had long pieces of tubing jammed down the main rails to re-enforce them after Earl crashed it and bent it up pretty bad. I traded it to Bob for a bolt on cage to put on one of the last spring fronts that he built. I had acquired it from a guy with intentions of running it at Knoxville when they started the 360 class. I wanted a weld on cage, which Bob was willing to do, but he was so busy that I agreed to a bolt on cage that he had on a car in storage at Van Pattens. Took me, Bob and the Jordan Brothers with a long steel bar to get it bolted down. I ended up selling the car to Jim Hetrick to race at Burlington.Sure would be interested in what happened to it. It was my understanding,it had only been raced three times before it was parked when I bought it in 1980.

Yes the first car is still around and was restored by Bob in about 1989. I will check with bob for sure next week but i believe the first car was built in 1961. Please keep the info coming and the questions.

Hi a500tt My nane is Rick and i saw your post on Hose Head about B Trostle cars and thought i would get a post off to you and see if you could ask BobT next time you see him if he might know any thing about my vintage car. I was told it was raced in centeral states about 20-30 years ago and brought back to Wisconsin and kept in a garage till i bought itto restore and run with MVVRCA club in Iowa and our club in Wisconsin. The frame looks like a Trostle frame like the pictures of Bill D car with a buggy spring frt end andsame hubs and wheels and sping pearch as pictured on HoseHeads. All the mts are very close to those pictured on Bill D car except the roll bars that go over your head run side to side instead of frt to back. I cant find any serial numbers and wonder if it was bilt by Bob T before he started numbering them. The car has a small blk engine iron heads and a Predator carband a powerglide auto trans joined to a sprint car rear end. It has a fuel cell and battery monted under the spint car tail.Ther was a small brace that went from the right side main tube to the bottom of the tube under the moter plate that was torched out to enable the starter to fit The car has a sprint car hood and tail paintd blue with a back frame. If you need any other info look at the post on HoseHead aout auto trans and oldtimers as i put additionl info on the car. Thanks for any help or info you can get when you talk to Bob T. Your fellow vintage racer Rick

Just spoke with Bob and he thinks this car should be s/n 507 and may have been built for a Paul percel. built in nov 1995.

Yes, it is #507 and is currently being gone through so it can be raced in 2011. My nephew bought it after last years racing season.

amazing thing about Bob it that he raced from florida to California and still built the cars . One year he raced about 92 times and Doug W. won 46 . A 92 race season is alot for a WOO team but they did:nt also build cars.

I don't have one with any numbers but my absolute favorite car Bob owned was the Vise-Grip car that him and Doug had in Fla. and then came to a Monday night show at Lincoln and they still had the same problem they had in Fla. with the car,Brakes.Next time I saw it was at the Grove with the Outlaws and had the weedburners on,still with Doug behind the wheel he was squaring her up at the flag stand and haulin 'er into one,now that was just in warm-ups,that car hauled the mail,I just liked the overall picture of it man that thing would hook up.Okay lets hear more, this is what I like on this site, history, kinda like the HAMB site, love that too.I think besides Frank Curtis no chassis builder has had as much written about them as has Bob Trostle, and thats not a bad thing, you people that have never met Bob go meet him at Knoxville,he is not hard to find, and shake hands with a historical legend and a true gentleman.

I recently purchase the #27 car pictured.  Does anyone know if this is a Trostle?  Also, does anyone have any information or history on the car?

Thank you in advance.
