I only saw Jesse race live 10-15 times in the past 4-5 years. The thing is some races you knew he was going to be there. That made you excided about going to see the race knowing Jesse would be putting on a show. The best memories though, were when you saw him and didn't expect him to be there. Jesse was what a true outlaw should be "AT LARGE". You knew when he came in and you didn't expect him he was going to be the show! My heart still breaks knowing we lost a great one.

Remember when Jesse was looking like he was going to finish top 5 at Anderson....then got caught up with Damion and Hagan....tough break, really had it workin well with the help of Drinan and Bernie (i think)....never much of a pavement driver, but jesse was learning it with limited funding to test, etc....Jess, you gave it your all just like you did on dirt....GREAT JOB!

Remember Jesse not having a very good Nationals last year, yet again....just couldn't get it right up there....he's missing it though, sure, everyone else thinks its rain but its Jess and Daniel wishing they were physically there racin, drinkin, etc....we miss ya too boys!

Remember me eating a whole rotisseire chicken at the PAS....lol, remember "gotta get the gettin while the gettin's good"....that bk at hampton in wasn't all that great, sorry for gettin you up at 5am for some shit. At least the room was only $39.... 2 yrs ago remember when i, on a whim, up and left seattle and moved to indy???? Remember all of us living in the shop....the shower we built, all the shelves,lol....remember chuggin beers ,in the DRC shop at Buckley's bday bash, against craig for a right rear,lol....remember, "drinking outta cups"....remember Eldora....wow, I still got that piece of the car....unbelievable night. Remember the USAC Eastern Swing? Man, you dominated at Grandview, and holy crap did we sell some tshirts or what?! I had a blast. I remember 4 or 5 days ago talking to you about how you needed to kick some ass....I remember you calling me back and sayin you were headed to the bank. God damn it cuz....I love you!
I'm working in charlotte and I get back to my desk aand have some 40 missed calls and texts....my mom breaks the news, I can't control myself. I'm sure you and daniel are watching from above. I get out of work asap, get a rental car asap....one second I'm ok, the next I can't f'in handle it....there are fans in the racing community, and then there's the hockett fans....above that, there's the hockett family. And at the top of that, the Tbird always flew with his chest out, proudly showing off that new hockett shirt....talk so strongly and passionatly about his cuz who was determined to be the best....period. As I'm driving down the road....I'm speechless. Frustrated. Pissed. I think I'm out of tears, then more come. I think of all the races, memories we've had and that you have provided for thousands of race fans. I can't believe I will never hear you speak in person again....I do have a voicemail you left me, which you tell me how mad you are at me for not answering your call. Trust me cuz....i'd give my own life to answer that call today. Words will never describe this....I don't even want to go to a race....who will I scream at the top of my lungs for? Who's ass will I get onto for spinning out or hitting the wall? Who's gonna tell me I'm basically a dumbass when it comes to sprint cars? Who else is gonna race a 360 wing car 1 night, 410 nonwing the next,make the long hauls to who knows where just because there's nowhere else to race? I wouldn't be shocked if 100's of race fans stop going because there isn't anyone worth cheering for....I'm just so sad....this is the worst day that I can remember. We all know you didn't want to go BUT....we all know that you and Daniel are kickin ass and takin names up above. God damn it Lester....I miss you. Love you always. You know what the birdie says....

Tbird4vkcc iam going to help you get this thread back up Top!!! LakeSide Speedway Ron Shuman Classic is this Fri and Sat I love that place and that race and try and make it every year. But Jesse I felt maid it too the big big times after he bag that 10,000 that year.. I loved racing with him and beside him when i could get the car fast enough. Because to race with that Rocket you had to have you SH*T perfect. Rip Jesse

Chris Morgan ill be in my 7c car this year ran the 7k last year and finished 6th. I didnt get that ride this year so iam stuck using my car and a 360 engine but have done fare in the past even with the 360 Jesse was the nonwing king. The car iam running is the jei i got from him at the start of this year so maybe some good will come out of that used jei frame. Wish i had his set up sheets for it lol of course those was him. The wheel man ! The Rocket ! will be missed but never will be forgot...youtube ( texasdirtnetwork 5/28 ) the 0 car Calvin Lutz and Jeff Lutz car in texas thank you guys for the ride to honer my friend live by the Top die By the Top Jesses way of sayin it cya!!

I know this is a thread for sharing stories and memories, but thought I would share a pic of another Jesse Hockett mailbox I am working on for a fan of Jesse's from Texas. The first Jesse mailbox I built is the one of his white #77 that is currently being raffled to raise money for the family. This one is of the #13 VKCC car. All it is lacking is the cage to mount the wing and it is ready to ship. If any other fan is interested in a winged mailbox (any driver)or maybe just a miniature wing, send me an email at [email protected]. Let me know you heard about the mailboxes through Jesse's thread and I will donate a portion of the profits to the family.
