Same can be said about DeWease. He has missed a ton of races. Your logic is flawed.
Was it Kauffman's choice to leave the area? Or was there not any open rides in central pa that he wanted to drive for.
|
It was Keiths choice. Back then the money was much better on the road than staying local. He didn't always have the best of rides on the Woo tour.

I can understand why this comment was posted. The 69k was planning to go to Eldora then didn't but the driver went anyway. Could have been a mutual agreement among the "staff" but if it wasn't, or even not 100% supported by the 69k owner, the world begins to turn.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

What is Kauffman's record in the biggest race of the year? The National Open at the Grove? ....or the second biggest the Tusky. How do they compare? You will have some kind of excuse.
1. Dewease best in central pa. Record speaks for itself in big races.
2. Rahmer great career just not as good as DeWease.
3. Kauffman another great career but not as good as the other two mentioned.
|
One thing to keep in mind about Fred. He didn't get his start in sprints until he was much older than Lance. During their time competing together, Fred definitely outperformed him. Lance was better in big races early on but from about 1998-2013, Fred won a bunch of big ones too. Lance definitely has the edge in the National Open but Fred's overall numbers were better. Hodnett was actually better than both of them and won more than both of them from the time he came to Pa in mid 1998, through 2013 when Fred retired then had some real good years in the 27 before he passed away. Interesting stuff but the fact is, the numbers those 3 put up, especially considering they were pretty much always competing against one another, are unbelievable. We will likely never see anything like that again. But the fact is, you can do all the mental gymnastics you please with the "what ifs" but the numbers are what they are and Lance has the numbers on his side.

I have not been talking about overall wins. Was only speaking all time wins at Port Royal Still how many more wins and championships locally would he have if not on the road for 10 years! Probably 150+ at Port Royal. I commend him greatly for leaving the porch for those 10 years!
|
And how many more would Lance have if he were a Port regular between 2002 & now? 2000 was really the last year Lance was a Port regular. He switched to Lincoln toward the end of 2001 and has been back and forth ever since then the last 7 years, only ran a part time schedule. He definitely would have more wins if he ran there weekly like he did during the first half of his career. This goes both ways.

Lance had absolutely nothing to do with the Macri split. In fact, Macri called him to fill in once the 69K pulled out of going to Eldora. So you must be smoking the grass that your snake is in or something.

Ok I'll bite, long time lurker here, IMO, you put those 3 in a 10th place car anywhere and Keith comes out on top, Keith was born a little late IMO, I believe he would have done better before the car became more refined in the mid 80's.

I forget which car owner said Keith could drive a dump truck to victory lane.

Keith started in the early 70s in an old Bobby Abel super.

I have a question for those of you who have followed Lance's career far closer than I have. This is a question that I'm curious of opinions but if anyone has actual stats that would be even better. If 2015 had been his last year, where would you place his career? HOF worthy? I see the debate where Lance was in the conversation for the best local driver ever. If he had never been in the 69k, does that statement still apply or is Lance's overall career favorably altered because of his time and results in that car?

Where was that dump truck? The top three were all great. Dewease had or is having a better career in central PA than the other two. Sorry your hatred has blinded you.
If you look at the wins or top finishes in big races and total amount of wins Lance is the best followed by Rahmer and then Kauffman.
To answer your next question.....I was a huge Jim Nace fan.
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

Definitely Hall of Fame worthy. He still had bettet stats than Kauffman who was already in at that point and slightly below Rahmer who was also in so definitely a Hall of Famer. But his time with Kreitz was wear he cemented his legacy as the Central PA all time great. 2 National Opens, several more outlaw wins, another Knoxville Nationals A-Main start, another Grove title, a bunch more wins against the All Stars and during Speedweek, 3 more Tuscarora 50 wins plus some other bigger shows during that time. I believe he had over 70 wins total with Kreitz and the majority of those came in higher paying races. No question his time with Kreitz advanced his stats by a lot. So yeah he was definitely already a Hall of Famer, but there wasn't much of a debate before 2015 that Rahmer had the better numbers. Now, his stats have definitely surpassed Rahmer in a lot of categories. But as I said in another post, Lance started young. Fred did not. So if you compare them head to head during their careers, Fred still comes out on top in every category except for National Open wins and Port Royal wins.

I believe that was Weikert and he was correct. Keith was a total bad ass.

Your last sentence is the reason I give Lance the edge in his career. Let's not forget the Tusky 50. What is the record there. Also speedweek wins or good runs about equal. Fred had a lot more speedweek championships.

Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

So you choose to ignore a factual statement and remain stupid just to feed your own grudge? Do me a favor, go ask Nick Macri himself what happened. Then go ask some random crew members in the pits what went down. Literally everyone knows. Hint: you'll get the same exact story from everyone. You might be the only knuckledragging shitwit on earth who doesn't already know unless you actually do know, but would rather spread bullshit on a forum for whatever reason. Have fun being a willfully ignorant moron......

Not at all. He isn't even in my top 5 favorite drivers. But even if I was, does that change the fact that you're factually wrong? It isn't even a matter of opinion. You. Are. Wrong.
