Same dates, or are they maybe going to try and move it around?
If it's on the schedule for next year, I wonder if the Outlaws try to horn in on it? To be honest, I like the fact that there was a big paying show with no Outlaws there.

At the very end of the victory lane interviews, the announcer said something that caught my ear. He thanked the crowd for supporting and for braving the cold. Then he said "I promise you it will be warmer for next year's event, I promise". That tells me they are shooting for a summer date.
Please, PLEASE don't ruin this race with a WoO sanction!

Nice. If it's in the summer, I'd get to travel out to see it.

I think most of us agree on that...

The Outlaws would bring a better crowd for sure. Car count would be down.

I agree the outlaws probably would bring a larger crowd but they shouldn't. I personally would like to see 90 cars race 1/4 second slower with the improved chance of a lesser known guy to win than sl ghtly faster top cars with less attending and the regulars on the podium.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

I was there for every lap all weekend and never once thought "man, I wish the Outlaws were here" nor did I hear any others fans I chatted with bring it up. Same date or summer date, I'll be back.

Did anyone see the crowd for the $50,000 to win Tuscarora Fifty at Port Royal Last year. You don't need the Outlaws to put on a race like this. They probably couldn't have put enough more people in the place to pay the sactioning fee.

Yes the Swindell-Bayston car.
Heres exactly what was said:
Nothin like a kid with a little money and zero sense to ruin it for everyone else.
This is every reason why an invert with no points system or reward is stupid. Our time matters nothing. Gotta start on the back of a B because some douche of a kid who refers to hisself a “TRevv” hit a invert and has zero regard to other cars on a racetrack. WHY DID WE QUALIFY
|
At one point Jordan Swindell tweeted about Baker, saying he had zero regard for other drivers on the track. I personally thought this was hilarious as her Father-in-Law, Slammin' Sammy, literally earned that nickname for driving with zero regard to other drivers.

As for the all important Posse vs. the world debate(LOL), the night started out very well for the Posse but then our guys got shellacked in the features. We had just about all of our best cars starting near the front in the A-mains and they looked like they had anchors attached to them when the green flag waved. Only McIntyre was able to get a lock in spot and that was due to some misfortune for a couple cars that were ahead of him. Zearfoss was running well, 3rd and looked to be getting faster when he rolled to a stop. Hopefully the track will be a little slicker and smoother tonight so the posse can compete. hehehe
|
the caki boys looked a helluva lot better and there were only 4......and all made the A-Main. Think about that!
Where's my beer or scotch on the rocks? God-damn it! 40
plus years of dirt track racing in these old veins might
get me condemned by the EPA.

Port is a bit of a different deal, I’d agree in Pa you probably don’t need the WoO for every big race. The Grove on the other hand absolutely does.
The WoO name pulls in the casual fan like no other in dirt racing. Good or bad, and lord knows if you just read this board you’d think non-winged cars were more popular than winged, it’s the truth.

Hope they dont schedule against the Nationals. Has any track ever done that? Scheduled a big 410 race head to head with the Nationals?

I disagree. No Outlaws was a plus, locals had a chance
Don't know what crowd was like, but I think warm weather would pack the house for this. I was surprised, watching on Speedshift, how many Ohio people announced on Twitter that they were watching PPV... had to be the weather, right? Broadcast was really well done, but it never compares to live racing, which costs almost the same

Mansfield did last year with the 20k to win Great Lakes Dirt Nationals and they got huge numbers, believe they are doing it again this year

Did the 69K want to get an early start on the road back home, or what?
