I'm certainly not standing up for Robert Altman. He is what he is- someone who jyust likes to play games on the internet.  You're move Bob.

I'm saying that tracks need to keep the place up or the fans leave.  I can remember watching a race while holding my nose because of the smell of the bathrooms that were at the other end of the stands! I've been to race tracks where the stands weren't safe and tracks where the catchfence wasn't safe.  Those tracks are gone now. I think there's a correlation.

And you're absolutely correct about that. Thankfully, Susky is in good hands now because it was one of those tracks you spoke of. Port was bad before but not as bad as Susky. Both needed big facelifts and they got it. Williams Grove and Lincoln are great and they've always been that way because they were never left go. Altman's only issue with them is what I said about being charged a vendors fee to set up his stupid table and pretend that he had a fan club.

Totally agree. If they can keep their equipment together, he could certainly be a 5+ time winner and top 3-5 in points. Problem is, if they keep getting DNF's like they usually do, that could be like an anchor in the points standings. Regardless, DNF's or not, what they're doing out there with their budget is simply incredible. I believe Jacob is knocking on the door for a win as well. Only a matter of time.

Ways out of Port Royal speedway": If your going west towards Lewistown go out by the elementary school to rte 333 to Mifflintown, also, on other  side of Port royal bridge, turn left up along the river towards Mifflintown  ,that takes you to Miffintown  and then west;if your going south towards Harrisburg ,turn right on other side of bridge at the same intersection and go towards Butttonwood camp grounds over to Mexico turn  right and go to Thompsontown and onto rte 322 east towards Harrisburg. If you want to avoid traffic

, butt on a nite that has an over flow crowd most places are hard to get out of ,if most people leave at the same time as the WoO race at Port Royal,it is going to be hard to leave, without getting in a traffic jam.

At the Grove , Lincoln and other tracks many things need to be updated or improved , yes I will  mention a few but I also have no hard feelings toward any track . Well to answer your first comment , seating, restrooms , paint would help , guardrail , wiring , and more at both tracks should  be done .But everyone has there favorite tracks and the actual venue condition does not matter to most fans , only to see good racing .

Lincoln paint the walls every year. Plenty of and sturdy seating already at both tracks. Both harldy ever have wiring issues. So your point is invalad.

Couldn't agree more on all of the above. Lincoln and Williams Grove have been great for a long time. Port and Susky have always been awesome as well but lacked the attention they deserve and they're now getting it from some good people who now run both tracks. Selinsgrove should be really good with the new clay. Hopefully they figure out a way to give the fans better sight lines because the infield obstructions really take away from the experience. Like you, I still go there and I still enjoy watching them haul ass into turn 1 but it would be cool to have a better view of the rest of the track. From what I understand, there's been some talk about shortening it. Don't know how I feel about that one. From a business perspective, I think they could only stand to benefit from it and if I were them, I would probably do it. Not only would it be easier on motors, but it would also provide the necessary space to get the pits out of the infield, or at least some of the trailers to improve the sightlines. On the other hand as a fan, watching the insane speeds is something I'll miss if they ever shorten it. Either way, the tracks we have here are awesome and I thank God every day that I was born in Central Pa. We aren't perfect, but we have it pretty damn good.

Regarding Selinsgrove, What I heard is they are going to build an outer pit area off turns 3-4 and move the turns in a little bit to accomdate. The inside rail now would be become the oustide so it would only shorten the track a little like to a true half-mile instead of the .54 or whatever it is now. That's just rumor though, not from anyone directly associated with the track. Personally, I hope it's true. The new clay should be a major improvement.

That's because the "other tracks" don't need to. The "other tracks" you speak of were well maintained over the years and given proper updates and amenities as needed. Port and Susky however, did not recieve the same attention. They were left in a state of constant decay to the point where they became shit holes. All they're doing now is fixing those things and bringing them up to par with the "other tracks". They deserve to be commended for their efforts but don't act like the "other tracks" are in the same state now that Port and Susky were in just a few short years ago and are in need of massive overhauls because they aren't.

Agreed, but I think Port is now the nicest dirt track facility in central PA if not the whole state.

I agree with that. It's really close between our big 3 but I'd give Port a slight edge for sure. The fact is, they're all 3 really nice and they all 3 provide us with some great racing.

That is the same rumor I heard as well, but as of now, the only thing we know for certain is new clay is being put down now. Maybe Selinsgrove's PR person will be forthcoming with a little more information over the off season to keep the fans updated with any or future plans, i.e. Susquehanna over last off season. This would help getting the fans excited for the 2017 racing season.

Not to say I wouldn't miss the old Selinsgrove but I think all in all, I'm in favor of that idea. Just like the old covered grandstands at Port, anyone who watched a race in those days misses it. Port hasn't been the same since but sometimes, things must change in order to stay relevant and unfortunately, the old covered grandstands ran their course and needed to be replaced. I think shortening Selinsgrove would certainly fall into that category. They stand to benefit a lot from doing it. Not only a little easier on motors but it would make the fan experience light years better if the sight lines were improved.

Susky's facility has come a long way...primarily because it was diulapidated by any standards applicable to a modern venue - IMO susky's racing has always trumped what the facility has to offer...nowhere near enough pissers when the grandstands are even half full there.

Does every track in the country have a line at the pisser when the grandstands are full...PROBABLY

Have I walked to the car to piss on the ground at one time or another at nearly every track I have attended - ABSOLUTELY

Port Royal is clearly the front runner on the improvement on Posse Soil...did they draw a much larger crowd in the new 700 ft. froint stretch grand stands with the WoO this year? ABSOLUTELY

Are there even more exciting improvements coming to Port Royal for next year - CERTAINLY. - I am not at liberty to repeat what I was told...stay tuned.

thinking ..................... site improvements must kept a secret but I know & i can't keep a secret ........... so would be it be okay to tell the Wizz? He's not coming to the Speed Palace till 2018. I promised to buy his ticket then. If he does show, maybe we could have a Port Area 51.

I honestly don't care what the restrooms look or even smell like. I don't care if they've painted anything lately. I've sat on concrete at the track, Bulls Gap, and didn't care even given the fact that it was uncomfortable. Wiring? Are you shitting me?

I don't go to a racetrack for amenities either.... but a stinky bathroom is a big negative. Like Big Right Rear, I prefer peeing outside anyway

Important information, right? wink

Once again the responses  forget the topic of this thread , it's about Logan and his impressive  win at Port  not about me. But thank you for all your  comments .
