I totally agree. As a person, I like him aside from the shitty things he's done while under the influence of drugs. But just because he's really talented or aside from his issues, a really nice person, doesn't mean he shouldn't have to face repercussions for his decision. The fact is, he said his vehicle broke down. I REALLY hope that was the case and considering that Peter Murphy apparently tried to help him get the vehicle going, I'm inclined to believe him. That said, if that had been a driver such as Jonathan Allard or Rico who hasn't had the countless issues that Tyler has had, they probably wouldn't have fired him over something like that so his reputation almost definitely cost him in this deal and I have zero issue with that. Like I said before, if I owned a car, he wouldn't be my driver. At least not yet. If years down the road, he's still clean and he's honestly turned his life around, and lets face it, there are those out there who have done so, then maybe I'd consider. I just don't think it's appropriate to spew such visceral hatred about the guy. I do get it though because most people don't understand addiction and all they see is a criminal (which he is) but there's more to it than that. I will always root for him to get better because I've had friends who got mixed up in this shit. Very good dudes who made a shitty decision to use drugs to fix their problems and they ended up losing control of themselves. One is currently serving a lengthy sentence for attempting to harm a police officer with a firearm. I grew up with him and I KNOW that isn't him but when he's on the garbage, he's completely different. People just need to have a little compassion that's all I'm saying.

No need.   Those drivers haven't been splattered all over the media and youtube with high speed police chases and their other extremely bad behavior.

Maybe they didn't lead police on a high speed chase and haven't been all over youtube, but I know of at least two drivers at the Nationals with past felonies on their records. One I would consider much worse than Walker's drug addiction and high speed chase. Soooo, if you're sin free, maybe you should do your research, they can line all drivers with felonies on their record up on the front stretch, and you can cast the first stone.

Awesome, when did they start doing that at the Nationals?   Can you bring any stone you want or do they have limits?

We'll I'm 30 and have known him and his dad for half of my life .just because a guy makes mistakes doesnt mean shit. If one of your close friends or family members had some problems you would support them. And you sure as hell wouldn't like people talking shit about them without knowing the whole story.

actually I have family members that are drug addicts and i don't give 2 flying fucks about them either.  If you want to make your bed, sleep in it!  I damn sure wouldn't give a ride to one of my junkie cousins just because he can win a race here or there, I have better standards than that!

I have a niece addicted to heroin. She's: lost her house, been in and out of jail; lost custody of her two children to her mother and mother-in-law, and caused a ton of heartache for our family.......but you know what Meatbag, I, and our family, still love her and will continue to love her and support her unconditionally - becasue that what people with compassionate heart do. Do you hate her too, like you do Tyler Walker and your "junkie cousins" because they are not perfect like you and the rest of the saints on here? Do you enjoy kicking people when they are down?

If I was squeaky clean and the hottest up-and-coming young sprint car hotshoe, and you owned a top-caliber team, I still wouldn't drive for someone like you.

I have received two phone calls in my life telling me that cousins had been found dead from drug overdose.   I hated getting those calls, but those cousins did it to themselves.   The people around them, like my grandmother, who loved them unconditionally and supported them and bailed them out of everything, did them no favors and were actually a big part of the problem.

Dryslick - I attended a few funerals of the same sort...and not a one of them "deserved" a 410 ride on someone else's dime because of a post on a website.

The folks on here who rush to Walker's defense with their typing fingers each time vertigo diverts him from the hall of fame need to stop paying lip service and put him in their race car to prove to the world once and for all that he is "The Great Tyler Walker" that simply needs a more understanding race team.

Think of the presitge you will receive with your name along side these famous car owners: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyler_Walker_(racing_driver)

I took a minute to read the Wiki entry for TW.  I think he was really high when he wrote it.  Not a little high, but really high.  Either that or he is as dumb as a box of rocks.

On a serious note, my exchanges with TW have always been very good, although they were limited to talking at his t-shirt trailer or in the pits after races.  He seems like a good guy and is very friendly.  If you have been around someone with an addiction, you know that there is another person behind that facade.  One that you can't count on at all and one that will sabotage everything in his/her life in pursuit of another high.

You're right. We should all turn our backs on people we care about when they are down, because "they did it to themselves".

No one is saying that Larsonfan, but Willie is correct in that the more you coddle and enable an addict, the less likely they are to confront their demons and actually do something about them.

Support them? Fine. Baby them every time they revert? NO!!
