some tracks have rules and conduct guidelines were penalties and suspensions are handed out...does Knoxville have anything in place for respecting the officials?

Start should have been called back. It was awful. Terry had every right to be upset. That start ruined his chance of making the pole dash and the $3000 check it comes along with. If you really think Terry was wrong, then you aren't being objective and probably have a pre-existing dislike of #24.

Copied directly from page 20 of the rules posted on the Kville website:
* SPORTSMANSHIP** – Sprint car racing is a very emotional sport. Therefore, good sportsmanship is the cornerstone of any competitive racing program. This must include respect for all participants – drivers, owners, pit crews, and officials. For our part we will try to be consistent with our no matter what or who is involved. We will treat all participants with respect and expect similar treatment in return. Fighting, harassment, or verbally abusing any officials, security, safety workers, firemen, tow truck operators, push truck operators etc, will not be tolerated. Drivers, remember that you are responsible for the actions of your crews. Being in the other competitors pit area is considered already at fault. In an effort to curtail the incidents at Knoxville Raceway, the following system of penalties will be in force:
-
Threatening or obscene gestures – aimed at an official or a competitor $100 to $500
-
Foul language directed at an official or a competitor $100 to $500
-
Rough driving $100 to $500
-
Fighting in pits $200 to $2000
-
Pushing, shoving or assaulting an official $500 to $2000
-
Disqualification may be an additional penalty in the case of flagrant violations.
Disqualifications will be for a specific number of race nights. Rain outs will not be
included when a penalty involves a specific number of races.
-
Sportsmanship does not just pertain to activities at the track. Remember what you say
and what you type has meaning, what you do can have consequences, think before you lash out.
**Fines and or disqualifications will be at the discretion of the Race Director. You may appeal your case to the Race Committee of the Marion County Fair Association. All fines must be paid before you can return to participation at Knoxville Raceway.

McCarl is an egotistical spoiled brat! He shows his ass all the time! As for Doug Clark, I agree the start was ugly. But I don't think that was anything but a driver not getting on the gas, intentionally or otherwise. So, do you reward the driver that screws up by throwing the yellow or do you let the field go when the pole sitter times it correctly?

So there may be a case for No. 1, and I'm not going to speculate but others have indicated a case for No. 2.
Would be tough for someone to argue TMac threatened Doug, and I doubt it would stand up to the Miller test so I'm saying TMac is away OK here.

Clark is the only flagnan I've ever seen who tries to be a part of the show. I'm sitting at Osky right now, he refused to come here tonight, and I must say it's nice to not have the distraction of "The greatest flag man to ever live".....
mI'll never forget the year he climbed off the flag stand a ran down the front stretch during a red at the Nationals to berate a driver. Ridiculous.

For the record, here is the post from Justin Clark off his Facebook page.
Following last nights display of disrespect by a prominent competitor including racial description of the color of my father and I, and disrespect of our other track officials we have decided that it's in our best interest to let someone of a different race flag the show in OSKY. We are human, never perfect but do our best and do it honestly every race, no matter who you are!!!! Thanks to everyone who supports our Knoxville and NSL racing staff!
Is this heaven?
No, it's Iowa....Knoxville, Iowa.

Just asking, but where was T-Mac when he said something racial? What did he say, and did a non involved credible source actually hear it?
I have no idea what is going on. All I am asking is this a verifiable racial incident? If it is, why are they not naming Terry in the statement?

I don't know anything about the situation, but unless it is a verifiable incident and not a "they said, he said" type of thing with no credible witnesses, there is no case for anything.
Like I said, I don't know any details so I am just curious.

Honestly, I can't believe Terry would ever say something to that nature. Seriously, the dude is all about his brand. This is his living. He's a polarizing figure, not near as much as some drivers, but he's always been diehard about his trade. I can't see him ever putting himself into a situation that would damage his brand like this. There's a huge difference between riling up the fans and being blatantly disrespect towards people that he's seemed to get along with for a long time.
And if he did use a derogatory term - I'd love to hear when it allegedly happened. Did the Clarks somehow pick it up over the frontstretch? Was it a he said/she said thing?
I'm not afraid to say I'm a TMac fan and can state for certain I have a bias but when I step out of that box and try to look at it objectively I just can't see a guy of his stature doing something so stupid.

When I saw you had the latest response, I could only think to myself, "What kind of wisdom has he hit us with this time?" I was not let let down. You lived up your rep. Dyn-o-mite.

I, like many people and not just in this forum are friends with both people in this deal. I honestly can not believe that Terry said something, he is too smart and in my years of knowing him have never heard anything remotely close to rascist from the man. Doug is a blast, he will be in the Rib contest in the North Campground today and will be in the running, the man can whip up some great ribs. I truly regret missing this deal for the first time in 3 years and he is not shy with conversation and a class act as well, more will be coming out I'm sure and those of you who want to pound on Terry are the jealous type who like to tear down the winners in this sport, nothing new here....This will eventually become, 'much to do about nothin'....

Anyone remember Terry giving Doug a nice big kiss earlier this year after winning the NSL show at Jackson?

He was making fun of doug Clark. Just showing the true terry mccarl. He always throws a fit when things dont go his way. Hopefully someday Knoxville will throw his ass out or dock him some positions when he acts like that. Grade A douche bag in my book!

Look around on social media/facebook and you will see there was in fact other people (one a track worker) who heard it with their own ears. They claim it was said by T-MAC himself. Pretty classless temper tantrum above all else. He brought shame upon his family, thats a sad and honest fact.
Cheers!

This wouldnt be the first time you have been completely wrong.
Terry said it, verified by two track workers. It is totally classeless. I have no issue ith him being mad about the start, but when you make it personal, you lose fans. Terry Mcarl in my opinion is a spinless jackass.
