The officials did not dq her for getting out of her car because they thought she was heading back to the kitchen to make them sammiches.

I am a Jason Eckard fan and know he wouldn't call em like he sees em! I'm furious with Jackson Speedway for disqualifying him and not her as well when she was the first one out of her car. Just because who she drives for doesn't make her any more special than the other racers!

Not looking to bash at all, but the amount of Internet hype Jessica Zemken receives seems to vastly exceed the on-track results she has turned in with a 410 this season. I get it, she has won a handful of New York 360 races. But every time I have seen her race a 410 this season or look at results, I am always left thinking that a proven 410 driver could win races in that car.

Maybe they should pull a couple of wires off of Jason's car till he gets the feel of it!!!!!!

77zdad : First off to call me "closed minded" based off one statement I made is "closed minded". Second, we are talking sprint cars not go carts. Ive made up my mind by observing these women on the tracks and that's my conclusion, nothing personal. If you want to see your daughter race put her in a mini stock or a stock car and leave the real race cars to the men. Oh and by the way since I have been attending races in California since I was born and will be on the track next year, i doubt that I am hurting the sport!

She's only 17. Her car was down 55 cubic inches to the majority of the competitors in the race with her(which included recent allstar race winners and past 410 track champions) and her car weighed in at over 1600 lbs at the scale. When you can achieve half of what she's done in such a short time please feel free to come back in the forum and give us your opinion on wether or not a woman should be allowed to compete in a sprint car race.

Unbelievable B main last night when Zemken got crossed up with Jason Eckard, and then she gets out of her car. While I understand that they were both hot, and Zemken was faster, no way should she have been allowed to continue. Crazy call.

Do not take every thing so serious---things happen in a race and people get mad---they have a fence between track and spectators--all racers get mad once in a while---it is no big deal

She forgot she was a woman when she entered a man's sport PERIOD! Just another reason why it shouldn't be allowed.
|
I guess that there is no reason to get angry with this idiot. This is the kind of guy that would behave like a two year old after he got his a$$ handed to him on the track by a woman. Wake up Calisprintfan, they aren't going away, they are getting faster, and they will probably always hurt your Manly Sport feelings!

Okay guys and gals come back to earth with me here, i'll be the first to admit saying he should of been DQ'd was a HUGE overreacition. But what if Jessica Zemken was your daughter/wife/sister in law/sister/cousin...doesnt matter your ass would of been down in his pit kicking the you know what out of him, but since it wasnt your relative/significant other, she should just buck it up and deal with it and obviously she did if she got out of her car...so if Jason did not say these that word then shame on Jessica for telling people he did, and all my apologies to Jason but there is always 3 sides to every story his, hers and the right story and we all know that

Okay gohotfoot, I can see that you are at the very least passionate about protecting woman in general. But the truth is that they are competing in a very adrenaline induced sport that sometimes brings out the ugly in people. My daughter and I are fully aware that the day will come when we will be involved in some form of an argument, that might get physical and very verbally nasty. It is a part of the sport. Although I like to think that it will never happen, and I certainly will not instigate it, it is a likely event. My daughter knows that she is going to be called every name in the book. But for us to go to the track and expect to be treated with kids gloves is also ludicrous. My daughter races a Sprint Car with a bunch of really talented men. When we make a mistake we will own it. And if it makes them feel better to verbally bash and scream and holler, so be it. But the dust will clear at some point and no one ever had to head to the hospital because they had a nasty word hurled at them. It is what it is. The women will get over it. If they don't, they probably are in the wrong sport.
