Um, Strawser, they don't have to please you because you are not the customer. You don't go to Port, yet you continually bash them. Jason Covert had a great comment. He said last year it was the best track on the east coast, this year it's the best track in the United States. Bash away Strawser, lmao, the drivers love Port. Sadly I do agree with you on one thing (oh god, I agree with a whining baby), they needed to really pound the track with water. I said it from the time we walked through the gate.  Hot as balls but enjoyed sitting for the live Winged Nation broadcast and hearing stories from Paxton, Pitzer and Bobby Davis Jr. I could have sat there and looked at Ashley Stremme's legs all night long, mmmhmmmm.  Back again tonight, hopefully with tons of water, from trucks or clouds.

I have heard it all from them....If you make it as wet to run in the high 15 second bracket in warm-ups it will only be around the rim.  That is a lie from the pit.....With how hard they run in the track today at the Port they need extra water to make it exciting for the fans.  Right now it isn't exciting for anyone including the drivers!  It will get wide like it always does because that is the way it is when it is run in so hard.

Like I said, they only had one good track all year....the night Blaney won!

You want your track to be at it's best for the feature.....not the heats.  Port has it reversed.....no one cares who wins the heats!

Please bring back the excitement!!! It has been missing for way too long!!  But the stubborn track preparers are too stubborn to do that....bring back the excitment.... pretty please!!!

You should never need the help of mother nature every week to make your track better!!

Let's go Sprint Car Racing!

Just like I said.... I am glad I stayed home to watch the grass grow, more exciting than this......

If you notice on the last lap of the feature everyone is over 20 second in lap times.  As per usual at the slow palace!

Selinsgrove sucks so much that you bitch about races you don't even attend... Some things never change with your miserable ass.

Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

Port Royal had the best racing seen this tear so far. Passing in the heats feature for most of the race. Not sure why all the nad mouthing. One driver interviewed even went as far to say it is becoming the premier track in the USA. This was a driver that does alot of traveling. They knew weather was in the area and kept the show moving to get it in. I really dont go for all the fan fare but the racing. Two shows double time trials and got the show in in great time. UNLIKE Friday at the Grove. Neverending 305 slow racing wrecks, single time trials, ending late. HATS OFF TO THE PORT LAST NIGHT!  And NO i am not a port regular due to the distance

Clearly that driver has never been to Knoxville or Eldora. You can make a case for port being the best track in PA, but best in the US is a bit of a stretch.

Well apparently you don't pay much attention to racing because Jason Covert is one of the top Late Model drivers in the country. He travels all over with the various touring series WoO Late Models, Lucas Oil and so on. I think his opinion is a fairly valid one, lol.

Please please please don’t ever, EVER, reply to strawser comments. Just don’t. Let him talk to himself. If everybody literally ignores him, he’ll go away and maybe start commenting elsewhere. Seriously, as a whole, never reply nor reference him in any post. Except this one time, if you are so dis-interested in Port, why were you home watching Port’s Race Monitor instead of being at Selinsgrove? Ok, NOW no more mentions.

In a related note, Port tweeted they actually started time trials 8 minutes early and completed sprint car time trials for 30 cars in 15 minutes.

Agreed. Port is a very nice track but it's definitely not close to being on the same level as Knoxville or Eldora. A lot of the stuff you hear drivers saying about Port Royal is a result of an announcer who asks loaded questions every chance he get's to get people to say things of that nature. I've never been to a track that fishes for compliments like they do.

I love Port, and I loved it when it was a dump.

i think the track took too much flak when it was a dump and now gets almost too much praise now that theyve made so many improvement as weird as that is to say. I think people are so sick of the grove making no improvevents that Port has become the track to praise, which has turned into the “best track in the country“ silliness.

The posted start time was 7:30. They didn't roll the first heat out until almost 8:00. Unless that start time was for time trials in which case, I was mistaken. I assumed that it meant heat races started at 7:30. Either way, once they got going, they did a nice job pushing the show along. They are definitely getting better at running a more efficient program. Since the column (can't remember which one but it was late model oriented) in AARN several weeks back mentioned them always starting late, they have been making a better effort to clean it up. Hopefully the track surface is much better tonight. As of now, I'm an hour west and it's raining pretty hard here so evidently mother nature is trying to help out.

Wow. I thought I was the only one thinking that but I agree 100%. People are so down on Williams Grove that they put Port a little too high on the pedestal to basically rub it in Williams Groves face that they aren't the premier track in PA anymore. I've seen a few instances lately where I think those compliments have gone to Port Royal management's heads a little too much too. I also loved Port when it was a dump, maybe even more so than now. I don't care what anyone says, there was never a more thrilling experience for a fan than sitting in the first row of the old grandstands going into turn 1. You were literally only a few feet from the track and it was flat out scary. The cars looked like they were coming right at you. Anytime I took a friend from school to the races, we went down there and sat for warm ups. Most of those friends still go with me to this day. If that didn't get you hooked on sprint cars, nothing ever will.

I had the same reaction sitting in those old stands. I tried to relate that to my 28 year old son who was too young to remember when he came with me to a race at Port Royal eariler this year. In my 40 years of going to many different dirt tracks throughout the country there was nothing like that experience.

People on here know I am speaking the truth.  I have talked to some people and they are done with Port just like I am until they get there act together and put more water on the track.  Some have even said they will not go to the 50 because of it.  The drivers don't get any grip during the ends of the heats or the feature....it is like a slip and slide all over the track.  Last night, if you got off the bottom of the track you were going backwards.

I will make this plea once again.....please bring the excitement back to the Port.

I used to go to the races everyweek.....now I only go every once in a while.  I would go more often if the Slow Palace ever got there act together.  But they never will.  So, I will be heading south to Lincoln for the Sterner Memorial this Saturday night.

You liked that huggy around the bottom junk they threw at you last night.   Now that is funny!!  I go for the racing and right now Port has nothing I want to see.  They should rename the place the slip and slide.

I agree 100%.  I know, I enjoyed the races over at Port better when it was a dump to anything they are doing today.  The praise has beyond a shadow of a doubt went to their heads.  But they are forgeting one thing.....the most important...the racing on the track is what puts people in the stands not the facility.   People go thinking they are going to see a great race.....well 19 to 20 second laps in the feature doesn't produce great sprint racing....never has never will!

Give me Williamsgrove anyday....at least they hit the track prep a lot more than Port does!

Just the truth about Port and you can't handle the truth.  I pick only a few races from each track I want to go to, but exclude Port on that list since they have nothing I want to see.  The slip and slide "I mean Port" must have been great last night!  HUGGY AROUND THE BOTTOM.  If you got off the bottom you went backwards!

Mother nature did some excellent track prep. We're just a few minutes from engine starts after a rain delay and the track is looking fantastic. Thankfully, I don't think we'll be seeing a repeat of last night.

Hodnett goes quick time with a 15.23. Overwhelming majority of cars are under 16 secs.

It is a shame mother nature has to do what the track crew should do every Saturday night.....have a lot of cars in the 15 second bracket.  Much better racing in the feature tonight.  The heats will not be as good.  But the feature will be a lot better than last nights.....guarenteed!

With the showers to get it in tonight will be great.  The crew did a great job getting it ready after the rain.  High 15 second bracket would be ideal but you can't help mother nature.

However, you can help how much water you put on the track each Saturday........
