From what I saw Tony stomped towards the guy and then put his hands on him first.

Then it became an old man test of strength. Luckily that security with the TSR hat was there to contain the rowdy "drunk" before smoke was able to french kiss him. How embarrassing.

Yep, he was above him and put his hands down on the guy's shoulders. It was just a split second though but it was why the guy grabbed his wrist's.

Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

Yup always everyone else's fault. Considerd dirt track racings poster boy by some, I think he brings more negativity to our sport than anyone else. Stewart's behaviour is excused by the blind sheep that follow his every move because he is a racing icon, has a shit load of money and owns a track and a sprint car team. Tony is more or less always the innocent one regardless of the situation. I compare him to a fat spoiled bully who has yet to learn his lesson and meet his eventual demise. Too bad, I used to really like TS, but the all the negative shit that happens to the guy is brought on by his own arrogance and over inflated ego. I see a pattern of drama and controversy nearly everywhere TS appears. Eventually he will either get a beatdown by someone crazier than him or end up jailed for an extended period of time.

This is such a minor deal that I am amazed that you and others make something up big about it.  You hated Tony before you went through the gate at Tulsa.  Grow up and get a life.  I have been going to races for 65 years and this was nothing at all.

So this made the national news.  It was on CBS's national morning show this morning with Charlie Rose.  Apparently the guy Stewart had confrontation with is in law enforcement (I think they said a sheriff) and his department is looking into this because his behaviour was not to the standard of a police officer.  Sounds like he is in hot water.  I will say regardless of what the guy did it doesn't look good when Stewart walks up there with big Security guy (basically a bodyguard) and the guy ends up being pushed down.  He may have deserved it but you would think Stewart would just avoid this nonsense.

For those that think it was cool and are impressed by Tony going up into the stands ... ask yourself ... would it also be ok for NFL, NHL, MLB players to go up into the stands and confront fans?

Some people just dont get it do they BigAllard? This isn't the wild west anymore, it isn't the same 'Merica it was when AJ Foyt would whip your ass. Times have changed folks. You can't do or say what you want without consequences, no matter what you are brainwashed to believe. Tony should have never gone up there.

All talk talk talk. like two kids on a playground, no push me first. One or the other should have socked the other SOB right in the nose then we would really have something to talk about. This guy stirred the pot and Tony should of just had him removed from the building. And shame on the fans sitting in that area and not telling the big lop to stfu because we are trying to have fun here.

We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

Again, is consuming alcohol at a dirt track a good thing or a bad thing?  Drunk keeps coming up here in a negative way yet we glorify certain beer lovers at our meca?  Interesting.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

One has to laugh at some people claiming that Smoke should have just ignored this guy & let him carry on like a jackass.

Tell me this,if I followed you around town,or a shopping mall all day flipping you off & yelling obscenities at you, carrying on like a jackass, you would eventually crack & flip out at me! Everybody has that point where they have had enough.

Also, the sheriffs department should investigate this, like it was mentioned in an earlier post, most law enforcement carry while off duty, so if he's drunk & in public,I sure as hell wouldn't want him in my town with a loaded weapon, especially with the way he carried on in the video!

I get it that times have changed but this is one of the reasons I like Tony. He is one of the few people left that will take care of his own problems instead of hiding. What ever happened to the good old days when you could just meet somebody out back without being sued. 2 things bother me about this situation. 1) Look at all the people with their cell phones out recording, everybody wants a piece of the action. 2) But none of those people with the cell phones had the guts to stand up to this guy and tell him to shut up before it got to this point. I see this as a bigger problem than Tony standing up for himself.

Someone on here mentioned that this isn't the old days when AJ Foyt would whip you ass. I challenge you to find AJ today and mouth off to him. I would bet you the farm he would still whip your ass.

No one like him should go into the stands.  If I was hollering at someone like that, I would think I'd be pissed enough to want to hammer the guy, so it's not a good idea.  Just call one of the rent a cops and have him do his job.  I enjoy a few beers at the track, and I get pissed about the amount of flags the IMCA mods create, I bitch a little, but I'm around people that are there for the same reason I am, not to see endless yellows but to see Sprint Cars, so being buzzed and mouthing off has it's place.  If you are just being a drunk jackwad, security needs to remove him.....

Tony has never been the sharpest knife in the drawer and the off duty cops behavior is why my wife can take or leave live sporting events.

Oh I have no doubt that AJ could probably still get down, that wasn't my point. My point was that you cant do that it be over and nobody is in trouble and you go on to the next race. Like you said, nowadays everybody has their phones and it will be all over facebook, twitter, yahoo, etc for months. And Tony will be bother with questions about it all through speedweeks. I'm sure he won't answer them, but he'll get annoyed from being asked and liable to "snap" again. I like Tony, I really do, I like what he does for dirt racing.

Another difference too is that nobody probably wanted to stand up to the guy because they'd be sent to jail. Not Tony Stewart though.

And to respond to another poster, if somebody followed me around all day heckling me and flipping me off, your right, I'd do something about it. But I'm not Tony Stewart. I don't have security. I'm a regular person. I respect Tony for wanting to stand up for himself but he has to know better than to pick that battle.

I am not a Tony fan, period. Can I recognize that he has done tons for the racing community? Yes. Does he have a temper? Yes. The security was normal Chili Bowl security staff. The heckler had been flipping Tony off and yelling "Murderer" and other things. While people say he should have ignored it, let's look at the other side. The incident that caused the deputy to spew these things, is one of the same reasons that Tony is retiring. The same reason he has had an issue everytime he gets into a race car. It will forever be on his mind when he is driving. Having a drunken fool remind you of it, while you are there, working, to try and make someone else's Chili Bowl experience enjoyable by helping to provide a well groomed race surface, it will build on you. I am not saying it was right, but I would go and confront someoen as well. Tony loves racing, it is obvious. Why would he buy a track? Why else would he field a race team? Why would he look into buying some racing series' as well? He loves racing.

Part two, the deputy was way out of line. Yelling "murderer" and "I f@#king hate you" are not things we, as citizens want to see our LEOs saying. That and the "F bomb" actually can be deserving of a citation, especially if there are minors and women present. It is a $100 fine. That plus it is just uncalled for.
