Your wrong , but you are entitled to your opinion .I state facts not just opinion , but I will spare you my honest opinions because I care about all fans and making it better for you and everyone . I do know what I am talking about when I make these comments , but I will refrain from such honest knowledgeable comments I know are true . Sorry to bore you with trying to help .

You sir are not about "facts" you're all about opinion. When you figure that out you'll begin to see more clearly.
Cheers!

Well your ideas suck and posting them on a message board and having these discussions is not going to change anything. All you talk about is fans this and fans that but I'm going to let you in on a little secret, fans ARE NOT the most important part of a race track operation. The teams are. Think about it, fans have it easier than anyone. We show up, spend some money on a ticket, maybe grab a bite to eat, sit on our asses, maybe catch a free t-shirt or csn coozie, watch the race, maybe get drunk then either go sleep in a camper or for those who don't usually drink such as myself, go home and call it a night. At worst we may have seen a bad race. The teams on the other hand, take a far bigger financial risk than we do and we all know the worst that can and unfortunately sometimes does happen to those who drive sprint cars. They take far more risk than us fans do and let's face it, no fans are gonna show up and buy a ticket to sit at an empty race track with no race cars. I think if anything, the WRG and dirt tracks across the country should try and do more for the teams because they're the ones who really make it go. Us fans have it really easy compared to the teams and track owners/promoters.
|
So your "secret" is if a track can't put anybody in the grandstands, all is still good? Many a track has closed across the country over the years because of that very reason. Ask any promoter, anywhere, how many tracks are making money right now - very few, if any. Sorry, it is about the fans in the end.

Fans are no more important then the drivers who are no more important then the track which is no more important then the fans. In other words, fans, teams, and tracks and or sanctioning bodies are all equally important, If anyone of the three fails they all eventually fail. winning drive believes that the fan should be wined and dined and given more than a seat to watch a race. Most RACE fans go to the race for the racing, not for the extra BS like music selection and fan give aways. Hell winning drive refers to the Outlaw employees as a "cast" like we are seeing a play or somthing. If you didnt like the race at Port Saturday night or were "bored" as winning stated in another thread, then your not a race fan and you are boring in my opinion. I paid $35 for my seat but only needed the edge of it Saturday night, cant wait till they come back next year and hope they play the same exact music, most of which I didnt really like that much.
Larsonfan you picked the wrong guy to team up with on this one, as you can see Im not the only one tired of reading winning drives constant whining and bitching about every race or track that he goes to, but hey you got to take a shot at me so I guess thats whats really important, right? lol

I can't name a race I attended for the music...but the rocker guy who sang the national anthem did a pretty good job.
Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

Winning...(whining). Gotta say I think all you are doing is trolling to get people to comment. Unfortunately, I feel the need to join the foray. Saturday night at Port Royal was awesome! From the camping and hanging with friends to the great race we all got to see. Not sure, but maybe you were too drunk or stoned to appreciate? Shawn Brouse always chooses great music week after week and Johnny Gibson just added to that. Not sure where you were, but the fans in the stands appreciated the music, stomping their feet, clapping & singing along at times. The whole atmosphere of the weekend was fantastic!!!! Ticket & concession prices = obviously you have not been at Williams Grove, Selinsgrove or a few of the more western PA tracks. RACE FANS went to that race Saturday night and I'm sure they had a wonderful time!!!! I know I did!
The weather played out in their favor, the late date could have bit them in the butt. However, Port wanted to get the WoO back and they wanted to come back and this was the date they had to work with. The horrific winds died down just enough during race time to allow for great racing and track crew kept up with the track all day and it was a great surface.

Are you talking to me or "winning drive"? I was just responding to Minthess accusing people of "driving like girls"

I must say Fred Rahmer took pretty good care of the teams and fans with an exceptional balance of purse and excitement for all to be involved. Excellent job by Fritz and his event team. Path Valley may not be a stellar facility but the track is racy and the promotion in my opinion was innovative and fun.

I saw 3 Outlaw races at Port and they were all good and the winners of at least two of them were longshots like this guy was and that's GREAT! Upset winners, local winners, fluke winners whatever happens to bring somebody new into Victory Lane is just fine with me and most others for that matter. Brad Furr out of CA won one of them and Pepsi Danny in his beautiful #21 was another longshot to win, Lord knows we don't have enough of these kind of winners. CONGRATS to Mr. Smith on a Special win, props to the Posse for this one....

I deciced to go to Port instead of the Renegade show in Ohio one of the better Outlaw shows i have seen. My only complaint is with the Outlaws not Port, THEy Have Adjusted the format so much that they are sure to get the top guys into the dash. With the old format Deitrich,Marks,Hodnett, and Gravel would have been in the dash and Schatz would have had to start 12th instead of third.
The old fomat made for better heat racing instead of guys just settling for a top 5 spot.
I dont know him personally but I think Port should consider Chubby from C&B Mushrooms for the dream race, over the years his logo has been in the winners circle on many of the top cars or driver uniforms at Port and with URC plus the other local tracks.

Dude you're so wrong. I heard Steve O'Neil and Greg Hodnett discussing how they would rather have a show in the spring or summer but this was the only option. Look how many local cars would've been there if this show was in July that weren't there last night. Doug Esh and Chad Layton come to mind plus how many others? You need to quit your bashing of the WRG. They run a very fan friendly show and I always look forward to the Outlaws coming to town and apparently so do a lot of other people because the crowds are always good. You always bitch and complain because tracks aren't doing enough for the fans. Well here's an idea, why Don't YOU buy a racetrack and show them how its done instead of trying to spend other peoples money. Whether you thinks so or not, you bitching on a message board doesn't do a damn thing productive. Put your money where your mouth is.
|
Well if was WRG running the seating fiasco at Port Royal which I heard it was, then IDK how you could possibly call that fan friendly. Reserving down to to row 6 at a place that has a huge grandstand was nothing short of ridiculous. The ticket upgrade line was longer than the GA line to get into the track. Gotta suck that extra $5 out of the fan plus another $3 PER TICKET(not per purchase) if you used a credit card which anyone reserving seats in advance would do. That amounted to an extra $16 for me and my old lady. A family of 4- $32. Fan friendly? I don't think so! It turned out to be a great, well run show but I don't think WRG had a lot to do with that.

This show was WAY different. The races that Furr and Wood won were 1 lane tracks with no passing, won from the front row. This was GOOD race with a multi-groove track and several lead changes. Watch the highlights!

No what I'm saying is, he's a moron for thinking that the fans deserve to be given all you can eat food, a bottle of wine, a nice comfy recliner and a massage with hand release just for going to a race. My point was, it isn't all about the fans. There's other people who are just as crucial in making it go.
