If this series ends up working out, that's GREAT. And I will gladly support it.

It has nothing to do with the name. It is all about the drivers you have running the series. I do not go to an Outlaw or All Star show for the name, I go because the tracks advertise the drivers who will be there. If the ads list 5 to 10 drivers with a winning resume, people are going to show up.
If they spend the money to market this new series, which is easier to do with the likes of twitter & facebook, the series should be able to become relevant rather quickly.
The NST may have failed, but the big names on that tour put plenty of people in the stands. The Renegade Series isn't trying to take down the Outlaw giant, they just want a fair series for the ohio based race teams.
Central PA won't miss the All Stars, and either will the Midwest if it goes under. Blaney and Haud will still show up occasionally for the Outlaw shows.

Best of luck to the new endeavor. Sincerely hope the new "Ohio" series is a success. However, down the road, if, the new endeavor would happen to travel and book a Friday night show at Williams Greed Speedway (No weekly Senior citizen or Military discounts)? Well...............how about calling the inaugural event.............wait for it................."If you thought what happened to Custer and his men at The Little Big Horn was bad, wait to you see what happens to these mothers!" Of course, the PA Posse will be playing the part of the Indains! No rain for Knoxville attendants. E-Mods.

would you keep buying a Reese's peanut butter cup if each time you purchased there was less inside the package?
people like to glorify the good ole days until along comes the lack of glory...
the good news for both organizations, 90% of the year, I support the same tracks no matter who is "invading"...if you want to call 0 wins in 28 years an invasion.
Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

History suggests otherwise. The USA and NST series had the biggest names, primarily KINSER(Kinser and Wolfgang with the USA) but they were both short lived because most tracks decided to stick with the WOO brand name.

Again, it seems like a massive false equivalence to equate the World of Outlaws with the shape the All-Stars are in now. Guess I missed those two-car WoO tours or owners/drivers oopenly stating to the media that the Outlaws don't pay the advertised point fund.
The "brand name" for a series that doesn't pay its bills isn't good.

WOW, thank for that memory. I had the same thing happen to me. Also, the first race was at Fremont. Which is still my favorite track. Been to a lot of tracks but up close and drity is how I like it.

I went to both but the fact is that the NST had trouble booking dates and the biggest tracks in the sport- Knoxville, Williams Grove, Eldora, etc. stuck with the WOO. Brownfields's death was the nail in the coffin but that ship was already sinking.

True, the ASCoC isn't in great shape but the new series has only 5 verbal commits and 2 of them I don't see travelling outside of OH. Where are the cars gonna come from? The fact is that travelling these days is very expensive and it's just not worth it to most teams for an all-star type purse. Yes there were issues with the WOO paying the point fund a few years ago.

Here is the latest story that came out today below. Looks like they do have 3dates at Atomic Speedway scheduled, one being later in August. I believe they were already scheduled as strictly Atomic Speedway events so it looks like both the speedway and Renegades got together to have it sanctioned. Atomic is a great track for racing and it looks like quite a few interesting names are mentioned to as confirmed for the series. Little more than 5 now and some similar names on here that I believe I have seen race in some other series. But this is based on this article.

I have a feeling that the All Stars won't be around much longer if this series gets the support it needs. I know that has been said before but from the sounds of it a lot of the drivers are fed up with not getting payment. If this Renegade series truely goes head to head with the All Stars such as same purse per race, better schedule, point fund, tow money, sponsors then more than likely most of the drivers will join that series. What is the point in having a point fund when you do not pay the driver? If things end up going to plan and they get sponsorship then the track promoters may very well end up telling the All Stars, sorry not interested in paying your sanctioning fee and scheduling you. If the series works in conjunction with the FAST series and weekly shows that Attica/Fremont/Atomic/Wayne County/etc have then it should not be a problem. Some weekly racers may even want to travel with the series if the schedule is good. Finally I dont think this will be strictly an Ohio Series. They will probably be in Ohio, Western PA, maybe Central PA and some Indiana/Michigan tracks. If you have drivers like Kemenah, Wilson, Hannagan and maybe Holtgraver Shaffer Blaney Haud and others jump ship then what does that leave the All Stars? I just dont see why any of them would stay if the money is there and the schedule is better.
|
So true. Oh btw, Haud will be an outlaw next year so he will be gone anyway.
No matter how hard you try.........you can't polish a
terd!!!

You are right the series would have lived if Fred Brownfield were alive today . He was creative , personable , good to the drivers , he really cared , he spoke to fans and cared . The WRG don't care about fans , just money , no creativity in there events , yes good drivers , sometimes good racing , they really don't show concern or reply to letters , e-mails , or know there the drivers that well as comments made by drivers . But as long as fans keep packing tracks they won't do anything new for drivers , or fans . When was the last time the purse was raised ?? for the teams . Its time to raise the bar WRG .

As far as the outlaws raising the purse if they did then the race tracks raise the ticket prices. So how much are fans willing to pay to watch cause the fans pay the purse. As far as doing more for the drivers who cares everybody looks at that wrong they need to take care of the owners cause without the owners the drivers dont have a car to drive. jmo

I think a large part of this is being over looked and that's who actually owns the name "Ohio sprint speedweek"
