POINTS, POINTS, POINTS! That is the name of the game on the two qualifying nights. Winning the feature gets you nowhere unless you qualify well. Saturday's track will become rubber down by feature time and the winner will come from the front row. That's reality.

Cubic - In your argument a couple of weeks ago you said the driver had to be from that state for the win to be considered for that state. So which is it: Do you just have to drive a car from the state or actually be from that state. If you just have to drive a car from that state then what percentage of races do you have to race to be considered from that state. Lastly, if it is a neighboring state without a regular program can you claim them as a regular in your state as long a ajoining states do not have programs.

Maybe there should be a rulebook??

" Posse wins for third year in a row... "

2005 Rahmer Prelim win finsished 14th on Saturday (really Sunday)

2006 Rahmer Prelim win finished 12th on Saturday

Maybe Shepard can do something a little more impressive in 2007.

The rule of thumb is when the morning headlines read "Win for the Posse" it's a win for the Posse...lol.

Cubic, you along with the vast majority of the rest of the clueless ones there in PA thought the guy was a mutt and often said so. I came on and defended the man's ability to drive a sprint car and the freshness he adds to the sport and to remind the anti-folk that he would like to be known as Maryland Posse, lol.

Bottom line, I am very happy for him and his true followers who have stayed with this talent through thick and thin. I dare say that Frank Smith and the Rizzo Bros are sleeping in real late today after a big time night of celebration, that more than anything is what I missed about not being there last night. I only hope those that have challenged his talents and abilities (can you hear me BRR) are themselves eating some crow today as they foolishly wave their pom poms in false cheereading for a man they have hammered on for years. Good on ya' Shep Dog, keep that train a rollin'. Take It Easy.....

I never took you for a swallower Mikey, oh my how the mighty have fallen...lol. It's alright, no one can really blame you for finally bowing down to the Posse, it's always been inevitable. Lord, I apologize...

I have always cheered for the Jet. Hell, I can remember when he ran the #140 at Port when he was about 16. I've said for years he's the guy from the Central PA area that I would pick to go and run on the road because I know he can win in places unknown. Of course, Stevie proved that he could a long, long time ago.

At least three of the Posse have a legitimate chance tonight to win the other prelim. Hodnett who's been super fast all year and runs Knoxville very well, Rahmer who has won a prelim two straight years, and Dewease who WOULD have easily won a prelim last year if it weren't for a flat tire.

Sean Michael has looked great this year in the few times he's ran and I know he has some experience out there. If I recall, he has a top ten in the Nationals when he drove the famous ZEMCO car. Plus he just pocketed $30,000 last weekend.

Lucas Wolfe is a qualifying machine. If he stays out of trouble, he could be in the thick of things too!!

Ask, Jeff, John Zemaitis, Tommy Carl and the rest of the winning Zemco crew if they consider themselves a Central Pennsylvania sprint car team. The answer will be YES.

Just wanted to make sure you saw Dr. Hoseheads qoute Mikey. In my eternal quest to correct you when you stick your foot in your mouth.............see above brother. I know it's hard to hear a driver say something all the way from Canadia, but read it slowly. Question the integrity of Dr. Hosehead if you choose to, but the facts are right in front of you. PA car wins off of the porch...........again. Does it hurt??

You're still a member on the WG board...............I challange you to pull one quote off of there where I doubted Shep. In fact, I won a case of beer on a bet that he would be in the car for Speedweek..............reverse beepers activated again.

Cubed............yur killin' me brother.

Bones & Company.  You bunch of Cherry-Pickers!  Beat up on a bunch of TV sprint car stars!  Lets see you try that on a Friday night at Junkerville or Clinton County!  E-Mods.

Hotlaps - Still don't see PA Posse in the headlines. The headline reads:

Shepard wins Knoxville Nationals opener

The story on the other hand contradicts itself

8/10/2007- by Stacy Ervin - Jeff Shepard of Upperco, Maryland, opened up the 47th Annual Knoxville Nationals with a win for the Pennsylvania Posse on Thursday, August 9.

unless of course they moved Maryland to PA (if so my bad). Stacy should have left one or the other out. I will give you the Jeff was driving a PA car and therefore it was a PA win but then we have to go back to the discussions of a couple of weeks ago and rewrite those because for the purpose of those discussion someone from another state driving a CA car was not considered to be from CA.

I know it is popular amoungst the Posse fans to spin the outcome to their benefit but you can not have it both ways. So do we need to take out Hawkers statistics and recalc based on car owner or do you want to leave it based on where the driver is from?

You guys just cant stand it that a Posse driver(Jeff Shephard- Drives a Posse Car) has won anything out there. Get over it. There is talent out here. We are lucky enough to watch it every week. Sorry bout your luck that you cant. wink

It must be hard for you all to live those pitiful lives that has you spending countless hours on a computer arguing these facts.

Fact- Posse car won last night. - Deal with it.

He's leading the points at The Grove - I'd say that makes him Posse.

Shep knows how to play a crowd as well as anyone, he likes to wear the black hat and have fun. He was Posse when he started his career, he was not Posse when he was traveling - oh wait, I thought Posse never left the porch - and now he's running local again = current POSSE.

Pretty straight forward.

Jones - the best way (and most common sense) approach to who is and is not Posse (in my opinion): If you (no matter where you from) consistently run at Williams Grove and the surrounding tracks; your Posse and the fans will claim you. If you leave and travel, run tours (All-Stars, ASCS, WoO) or run elsewhere the majority of the time your not Posse. It's not about geography as much as where the driver consistently runs. Stevie Smith started out as Posse, left to run WoO and now runs an independent schedule. Shepard, I described above. There is no "rules" as Posse is not a sanctioning body; for the fans its a state of mind. Everyone has their own opinion of how this is determined, but most reasonable fans would go by the description I listed above. Some may claim Smith this year as he has probably run in Posseland more than anywhere else. I would not.

The best way to describe a WoO race at the Grove is its like the atmosphere of a college football game, with the Posse as the home team. To my experience I have never been in an environment at another racetrack, like it anywhere else, even at other PA tracks for WoO shows. The "us" against "them" makes for an electric atmosphere. The other big races, are big races, but lack the "team" rivalry of two distinct groups, does not diminish the event (everyone agrees this is the biggest week in the sprint car world). Maybe some All-Star / WoO events have it but typically there is no "home field or team."

Hope this helps out - sorry but no black and white here just a lot of grey.

it takes a real whiner to wonder why shepard raced the entire season in PA.

you can really spot those who have never ventured off their own porch to MARYLAND!

all i got to say is drive to jersey...when you smell something funny...head south.

buzzkill - +1

slide n - Not that it matters but one could hardly consider my life pitifull because I spend time on the computer. Rather, I think it is pretty awesome that I have a job that lets me debate the challenged while doing my work. You see I have Window(s) on my computer not Winder and can do more than one task at a time. But you are correct a Posse car did win last night. Just not a Posse driver by the guidelines set forth in previous posts. All I am trying to say is be consistent. re: read my previous post again.
