I am not offended by the prayers, but if there is one, I do what the majority of the people are doing sit, or stay still to show respect or honor those that are close to me, because maybe what is being said is somewhat close to or about them.  It is just respect it doesn't mean that you believe in any of it. You will probably look like a total 'dick' for the lack of respect for the 99% of people around you.   What I am offended by, is most winners of races, thanking GOD for allowing them to miss wrecks, not run out of gas, and cross the finish line before everyone else.  Who is so absurd to believe that the other 21, or 23 or 42 drivers were just told "next time" by GOD, if that is yor thing.  I just hate hearing that......           JMO

Yo' Brian, as I close in rapidly on 65 I have only ever seen one person pass in my entire life and it happened (to the flagman) right there at your Fremont Speedway.  Every time I ever went back to that place I said a few words (some might call them a prayer, who knows) in his honor and for it to not happen again.  It also made me think from that day on and for the hundreds of races I covered for the next dozen years that a racetrack might be a pretty good place to say a few words to whomever about what was to happen, I know I always did.  Good luck this year ol' friend....

Matthew 7:1-5........................It seems that a lot of "Christians" here could learn a lot from the Book of Matthew.

I agree, and non Christians could too. Especially if they read the entire book. That way, when they quoted scripture during a discussion, it would be in the proper context.

God doesn't play favorites...He loves each and everyone of us just the same....Unconditionally...

The racers that you refer to have expanded their minds which allows them to see things more clearly, sorta like time slowing down...Light, time and space all can be warped or miniputated...

Just take a hit of LSD and you'll see for yourself... Smile

Opinions may vary...

I think that the whole book of Matthew is relevent to this conversation, it just happens that 6:5. 6:6 and 7:1.5 seem to highlight the absurdity of this "discussion" in the context of the "bleacher observations", or to put it bluntly....Judge others.

Christian prayer usually means things like life instead of death, light instead of darkness, hope, peace, purity, humility, truth, serving others, the fact that we are children of an all-powerful creator instead of ancestors of a lung fish, we can be redeemed from our short-comings etc.......... we might as well accept the gift instead of being bitter about it.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER

racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

I'll say this: If you're headed home tonight and are in an accident... laying in the ditch (or maybe still strapped in) looking at your bones sticking out of your skin and bleeding out... knowing you're done in a matter of minutes... you will cry out to God Almighty like a child crying for their parent, begging Him to save you.  It's at the core of every human being... some just don't want to deal with it until that point of death.  You may not get that few minutes to try and bargain with Him at the end... as someone else said, why not take the free gift?

You might but many people won't this day and age., You'll most likely hear a long run of curse words from just about everyone!
