just how many things on todays sprint engine are that of a SBC, yes its basic desighn, but, not anywhere near the typical  SBC, it was a baseline that has been massaged into something more specific over the years,, If i told you the lifter desighn is that of a Mopar will that ruffle your feathers too? shaft rockers, heck that must be pontiac?,aluminum block, that must nissan, or "Honda" dia rod journals, does that mean its a honda crank? they must have one heck of a welder? I remember grandpa knockn that H beam 6.125 rod out on the grain truck, man the guys at the elevator were pissed,

You're right everyone has all the sbc weak links fixed... at least all the ones the rule book allow.   Ford put the distributor in the right place in 1958.  Small blocks with canted valves and front drive mags aren't exotic and expensive unless you insist on running "the basic design" of a sbc.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

weak links?, the 265-283  aval to the plublic in 1955 wasnt producing 900hp and running 9000 rpm, was your old blue running those #'s in 1958?  had the FoMoCo been the preferred choice they would have underwent a degree of changes also. Just in fine fassion the blue oval drum pounders come running, ya open the door to a debate and they freak out, I knew this front dist location would start something, thier all just a hunk of alloy.. good ideas stemmed from alot of manufactures over the years, but, yesterday is over.

I have to agree with most that everyone is making good power these days. But there's no doubt with all the races I have seen that when there's a Parker that shows up and things are right they will run away and hide. Theres no one that makes power like he does. I can't wait to see one of his new motors with the front mount distributor run. What an innovator with his new front mount distributor that he has designed.

word I heard was WOO outlawed the front mount mag on sbc chevy.  I think Moroso was the  company that developed these.

if ford would have done their part to help the hot rodders they would be the motor of choice.

the thing is, the sbc was lighter, smaller cheaper and more available and reliable to use in rods than the overhead valve ford. also chevy was more open to letting after market items be developed for their engine. ford was not. in other words chevy had "a better idea".

to indy and beyond!!
