Well the engine are different enough that it probably won't matter. See previous...

Just FYI, You can still build a 305 by way of 350 block and 3 in stroke crank. Racesaver has only allowed 305 blocks by casting number so you must run a true 305 block.

As far as 6 cylinder sprint cars , Jackson, Mn ran them way back when I raced up there. 317 ci for the big class and 6 cylinder for the startup class.

Sprnt12,

Knoxville's rules also require a cast iron 305 block only...CZ

Let me start by saying, I'm only a fan. I've never raced and only worked on a sprint car team for a couple years so my perspective is different than some who've already posted.

I hope this endeavor is very successful. We definitely need more sprint cars on the track. That will produce more sprint car fans. We current fans should do whatever we can to make this work instead of finding ways to criticize it to death. Just think. If it's wildly successful the ISF Speedway gets more racers, more fans, and some of those racers will step up into the 360 and 410 ranks. What's not to like about that? Some of those fans will also attend races at Knoxville or other midwest tracks.

Best wishes to Tony Moro and the team he's assembling. Let's support him by putting our butts in the grandstands, and by offering words of encouragement.

He said it in Open Wheel magazine in a story on  the 360 class at Knoxville. He actually said with a lot of junk yard parts. Not ALL junk yard stuff. Sorry for the mis quote. Dwight Snodgrass was quoted as saying they used only 2 rt rears all season and that was because the first one got cut.

what month issue and year I would like to read this.  Yes people used OEM blocks and forged OEM cranks, but that was about it

+1.  Tony's a former racer, a successful businessman, and a class gentleman.  I for one will definitely be there to support Tony in this endeavor and wish him the very best of luck.

Great news for sprintcar fans, owners and drivers! We have all fall & winter to get as many car owners, drivers, and fans to come and support the fairgrounds' racing program.

I believe that the Racesaver 305 is the future of economical, entry level sprintcar racing. Smile

Hope you are feeling better sprintfan1

I don't think it's the future, it's the now. The 305's are pretty much the only economical way to run a winged sprint car and they are growing like cockroaches. I think they are a great division for the beginner or any sprint car driver on a budget looking to learn or just having fun. However as a fan, I think they are OK as a support division but I wouldn't go to the races if they were the headliner. They'd probably be more interesting with a smaller topwing, makes no sense for a 450 HP racecar running the same topwing as a 900 HP sprinter.

Must be 1992.  Not sure of month. I will see if I can find that issue. I remember it well cause I was surprised they did a story on the Knoxvile 360 class, which was called "limited sprints" at the time.

when you see a main with 20 of these cars running side by side ..like we did at the eagle nationals..you may change your mind..it was back to the driver not the big check book..and with good people running the deal.. i for one cannot wait to see it.
