My only complaint with support classes is when tracks run them ahead of the premier division in the order of events for the evening. If the people that came to watch just the sprints didn't have to sit through all of the A-mains for the support divisions, they would complain a lot less about them.
That being said, I usually use the time during support series races to get my phone out and catch up on the internet and twitter to read updates from other series and drivers from around the country.

Here in Sioux Falls in the mid 80's to mid 90's at Husets I think a lot of guys from this area would agree fans went to watch a class of fenders called StreetStocks! They had rivalries, great races and the fans loved it! All this and we had regulars in the 410's with the names Lasoski, Herrera, McCarl, and many other big names that showed up quite often. Tom Savage a well credited Sprintcar and race writer, Once told a story a time at Knoxville sitting with a bunch of members of the SprintCar HoF board members talking about racing and who they thought was the best racecar driver they had seen was and Tom said the name, and that name was a local Streetstock driver from Sioux Falls and they all looked at him like who? Even if you are a Diehard SC fan you dont have to watch these other classes but just give em a little respect they do put a lot of hard work and time in the cars and ALSO put their lives on the line for the sport they love!

I never said only make the flavor I like. As a teacher your reading comprehension is not very good. I never said do away with classes of racers I do not like. I was saying Baskin Robbins makes 31 flavors because not everyone likes the same thing. And not all race fans like street stocks and mods. All I meant was to each his own. Run the street stock, b mods, etc with the other stock car stuff. Heck, the 305 purses are not much bigger than some modified purses. Run them as a support class. What is the problem if I buy a ticket and do not sit and watch the bomber races? Thought this was a free country? Thought a ticket entitled me to watch or not watch the races as I chose. I respect the fender drivers, I just do not enjoy watching them. I've been to races where sprints and late models were run the same night and watched a lot of late model fans leave after their feature was over and not stay to watch the sprint car A main. No big deal to me. Watch what you like and don't watch stuff you don't like.

Watch, Don't watch- it's all the same to me and to those guys in the support classes-I raced on nights with 100 fans in the seats and some nights (with the sprint cars) with 3,000 in the seats. It cost me the same to race both nights and we ran for the same money- I was out there to beat as many of the other guys as I could, and to have a blast doing it. RESPECT is what I meant- and I know quite a few on here don't know what that word means- including the original poster. I also know that quite of few poster's on here just want to start stuff- I usually don't bite- but there is a lot more of the low dollar 'support' guys out there than those who run the premier classes!
The last line of the National Anthem should be "Let's go Rac'n"

I do anything but watch the supporting taxis.

We still laugh about this one. After a 360 race at Wester City 3 kids walked by. I told them that the driver was over there and would give you a picture and autograph. The kids looked at me with a dumb look. They kept walking and went to the street stock pits.

I agree with that. I enjoy the support divisions, not as much as sprints but I'll stay and watch them most of the time, espescially LM's. Just run the premier division first. It saves the track, lets the crowd clear out in waves at the end of the night instead of all at once and doesn't force people to sit through a division they don't care to see. The only reason i can think of to run a support division first is if the track is too wet and still needs worked in before the sprint feature.

Oswald, I sold a lot of bomber photos early in my day. I once took 20 Street Stock 20x30 Poster sized photos on spec to Eldora and sold 18 of them in a few minutes, ripped up one and gave the last one to a young kid. They appreciate pics as much if not more than the sprint guys. I always thought they tried as hard as the big dogs but might not have had the talent or money to move up a level or more. I never thought any less of them when they were on the track, to each his own, enjoy the races, all of 'em.......

The support classes can cause some disappointments in places like California that have 11 PM curfews.
The run the sprints last as the star show of the night. It stinks when they run us up against the clock and send everyone home pissed because they didn't get the show in before curfew!
That said, even if they get it all done by 11 pm, alot of times, especially in real hot weather, the track is beat to death BEFORE the sprints even line up. It's hard to put on a show when there's no track to get ahold any traction!
Other than that, IT'S ALL GREAT . . . . .
