It dont matter where you go they all gonna have thier own rules. Every track has there own lil thing we all need to learn what they want. THEN WE CAN DECIDE TO PROMOTE THE PROMOTOTER. You know he has no show without us so it a 50 / 50 deal to me !!!!!

OK uncle a dont get me wrong, I want to help racing in okla and help my promoter. It is hard for a sunday night!!!!!!!!!!!!! I like enid , But sunday is for the birds. I have a job and monday mornings they like me there fresh ready to go. NOT DRAGGIN IN !!! ED DOES A GREAT JOB PROMOTING BUT SUNDAYS SUCK. It doesnt matter every track does there own thing!!!! If it not one thing it another! I love the NCRA, a little traveling , different scenery, the people are great, I MEAN THE PEOPLE ARE GREAT, BUT THEY CANT EVEN MAKE A SEASON, thier season has changed I dont know how many times in the last two weeks. CAN WE KNOW WHAT WE ARE RACING FOR!!!???? They have added five races when we were down to two. That means at least 1500. hundred dollars of diesel, motels, tires motel, pit passes, need I go on, and we racing for a 1000 dollar point fund. Keep in mind this is the last five weeks not counting what we already spent traveling to amarillo and hutchinson .!!!! HOW DO you support that. I guess just take it and go on huh huh !!! BY NO MEANS am I a knockin the personell cause I like chris and everyone THEY ARE AWESOME AS PEOPLE AND FRIENDS, but these late changes suck!!! I looked at the schedulele and said I think I can do it .. We get two races from the end and they add two, then one cancels and they add a two day show some where else. Had I jknown this earlier I might have tried a few other tracks this year and not devoted my self or my car to one series that cant make s schedule and stisk with it. I HATE GRIGING BUT WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO!!!! YOU HAVE TO SPEAK TO BE HEARD!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. Hell I didn't even know about the changes to the sprint car schedule until I had a sprint car driver email me asking why. I only knew about southern mods at Clinton cause Joe told me he was having to cancel and didn't know about the new, two day added show at Thunderbird until you posted the addition here.

And I am suppose to be the press guy.

Even I can at least keep personal feelings and business seperate.

When promoters get together and once rules are agreed upon, there will be more information that will be a "win win" for everybody involved.

Stay tuned, the wheels are turning....

How many times do I have to say this? Stop, look, and LISTEN.

We are all at a lose this year, but being seperated will not help our cause. A change of mentallity and unified rules across the State is a must for our sport. The current system is not working, and it is high time for a major change.

I am by no means an expert, but I have been around long enough to know that we need to band together for the good of Racing.

Well if you are looking for Pro/Street Stock Rules maybe you should look at Brill Motor Speedway they are adapted from State Fair Speedway by Owner & Promoter and long time Pro Stock Driver and SFS Pro Stock Champion Mark Brill, they are and have been very good rules for this class and they will stay the same for years to come, we have had some of the best racing of the year and very close finishes thru out the year, so check them out... www.brillmotorspeedway.com Smile

A good example of how rules are suppose to work is Flash. He could take his car to both Ada and Brill's without changing anything but gears.

I really like some of the ideas coming from different points of view on a unified set of rules and classes of race cars. One of the most important classes that needs to come from all of this is a budget conscious. beginner race car that will insure the future of racing in this state and surrounding areas. Make it safe, simple to work on, affordable, and legal at all tracks in the states of Oklahoma and Kansas for starters. Full bodied, originally domestic manufactures, small displacement(under 360 factory stock cubic inches), limited options on stock type transmission, rear gear ratio rule, single approved carb(two or four barrel)no aluminum intakes, stock heads/valve springs/limited internal modifications. Even though I'm a Chevy guy, I could watch 24 Fox Body Mustangs run competitively at tracks all over the state, move up to E mods, A mods, or sprints as money and experience allows. Whatever the promoters and racers come up with, it needs to begin with biginners that will be around to grow the sport.

If you go to some of the drag strips that are running weekly bracket and heads up programs, you see young guys, gray beards, and females all competing at some level on a pretty consistent basis. While "big time"drag racing is out of the reach of most people, you can still compete locally with a budget in mind and have a lot of fun.

The bomber class is just what every track needs.we are working on our second one, which will be a youth bomber for my son.my kid's have a shop full of expensive race cars,my daughter drove a bomber at the last race and my son rode as a passenger, that's all they have talked about since.my son has lost interest in mini sprint racing and wants to race a bomber now.i tickles me to no end,no more 2 1/2 hour trips to the track to race an expensive race car that is very expensive to repair.the bombers are fun and economical to race.

I raced at Enid for 28 years last few in the street stock class,i got burnt out running 10-12 thousand dollar motors to be compettive, then they just keep allowing more every year.those cars are way out of control money wise.there are several of them setting around that people can't afford to race, what's the use in haveing a car you can't afford to race, thats why i quit .could you imagine the car car count of a $10,000 to win race where Imca stock cars and hobby stocks could race.there was 140 stock cars aqnd somewhere around 150 hobby stocks at Boone for the super nationals and it doesn't come close to paying that..in the last month i have been very seriously considering starting again in an IMCA stock car or hobby stock

we need sanctioned racing and rules tha are tcomprarable state wide or even several surrounding states. The majority of Texas is Imca sanctioned, most of northern Kansas is.somebody has to work at keeping the cost of racing down while keeping the competition up,i know nobody that has done this better than Ed Beckley and IMCA.hell we have a mini stock that has a $2000 head and a $1000 clutch in it.that would build several bombers or a hobby stock.

i personally think the move should be to migrate the pure stock to imca hobby stock and the factory stocks and street stocks to imca hobby stock,i know the imca tire cost a little more but they last along time.i never liked running the asphalt take offs anyway those tires were never designed to run on dirt and you can tie up just as much money in chemicals making those things fast as you would in an imca tire.and i damn sur like watching stock sheet metal cars running over wedge bodies that you can't tell if there a street stock or a late model.

anyway just my 2cents worth,i think there will be some opisition at first but after you guys sell all those high dollar carbs, heads and transmissions and build you an imca legal car you will eventually be greatful there was a change.i watched it happen in Texas a few years ago.

Well, I can't remain silent any longer....here is my 2 cents worth. I have been running Street Stock/ Super Stock just under 15 years now, usually running @ 81 Speedway, Hutchinson, and Enid. And I will admit it has been frustrating keeping up with all the rule changes throughout the years. I never have agreed with opening it up to roller cams, 3 link, brinn / bert tranny's, but I will say this....I think it was a very good thing to be able to fab your own bodies out of affordable pre-painted aluminum sheet metal, and running asphalt take off tires that you can pick up for $25 a piece and be competitive. ( Never have had to treat them with chemicals). ( Or run a $10-12,000 motor). It just kills me when I hear about people wanting to go to hobbystock type suspension and stock bodies when that stuff won't be around much longer. Don't get me wrong, I think there should be a hobbystock type class for less experienced drivers. But for me, the Street Stock class is a highly competitive, fast, yet affordable class compared to Late Models or NCRA Modifieds. As far as talking about IMCA sanctioning, I don't know a lot about it, but I've seen the negatives at our hometown track when they tried it, there was guys protesting and trying to buy motors every week., taking all the fun out of it for everybody. I would hate to have to deal with that to go racing. I hope Ed can work something out with our class without IMCA. I think leaving out the changes that I listed above, keeping everything on stock 4 link, and cheap tires, the class would have a chance to grow again.

One more thing.....I am with "anthrdayanthrdollr" ..on this sunday night deal. That pretty well killed my chances of making it down there this year. I hate to hear that he is talking about doing that again next year., and I know I am not the only one that feels that way.

If I recall correctly, I think you have always came down to Enid for the Street Stock Nationals. One of those powerful drivers from the Hutch area. Anyhoot, I am honored to have you here on tidbits. If you happen to make the Oklahoma Sports Park in Ada $10,000 to win stock car nationals next weekend then would like to meet you personally.

Thanks!

Thanks Ray for the post.

Just to let you and others know there is no motor claim in IMCA - kaput it is gone! This all happened about 3 weeks ago..

By the way I have been here in Dodge 3 years and have had none............because I will not allow it. Now it does not matter because neither does IMCA.

The Sunday night deal might keep some away but I have had more cars in the pits this year than I bet MANY other tracks in the area. Over 140 cars the first night. Still over 100 at each race. You gotta remember this is from a track that was closed for 4 months.

The reason I think in Enid that Sunday works is that all the others tracks run points and when you run a specials only track like we are in Enid you have no war against any other track on Sundays because they do not run on Sunday. That has been the key to making Enid work so far.

I am sorry some cannot come basically I am sorry all cannot come but when we either phase some classes together or drop some we will start at 5pm and be done by 8 at the latest. That gives 4 hours till Midnite which heck most of us stay up that late anyway. I know I am still back in Dodge in the race track office at 9am and I know I am the last one to leave the track and drive 220 miles.

Again thanks for your view and post. Much respect.

I'm not crazy about Sunday races either and I live in Enid. My opinion is Ed could have had races on Tuesday night and people from this area would have showed up so we could race and because the fans wanted to watch some racing! (small exaggeration) but you get the idea?! Seems to me when there was a poll on this forum of what day people preferred to race, the overwhelming choice was Saturday?!

I think there were like 10 or so people that said they did not want to race on Sunday..........well so far there has been nearly 2000 spectators each time and one hell of a lot of cars. Just got to get em over sooner.

I like your shows in enid !!! I like what you you do there. I am sorry to say this this tho, Both times I ran enid this year it was one in the morning when I got home. I dont understand you sayin we will be out of there by eight at all. If so I will never complain about a sunday race again. Each time the NCRA sport mods have ran last, by the time we go through tech and load up it is late. I dont have to work sunday so if it was saturday there would be no hurry lol. My problem is run a sport mod race on sunday. You have NCRA sport mods run and that forces people to show up when they are tryin to run for points and at the same time have a life too. If it were just a sport mod race it is on the team , they cant gripe (in my opinion) if they up and decide to go. So your theory for messin with points does come into play now. You are forcin me to be there if I want to stay in points when it is not (forgive my spelling) feasable for me to race a sunday. I will be there with bells on sunday tho cause I have traveled with the NCRA all year. Maybe we could talk ed into runnning the sport mods first MAYBE!! LIKE I SAID THO ED DOES DO A GREAT JOB AS FAR AS PUTTIN A SHOW!!!!

I agree with you in that Ed does a great job in running a show. I have talked to several promoters in the last few months and Ed is one of the most accommodating ones I have talked to. If you have a concern or an idea he will listen.
