I invited 99 of my facebook friends who weren't already joined...wish everyone else would do the same. I would love to see 5000 members by the end of the summer.

Such a talent and role model for the sport. An insult to not put him in.

No disrespect at all. Jesse was a great racer and what happened was so sad, still is very sad. However I do not think Jesse accomplished enough on the "National" level to be inducted to the Hall of Fame. Now if there was a MidWest regional Hall of Fame then yes. I do understand he won some races out of the MidWest but not enough in my opinion. I know it hurts to lose a loved one. Its not an easy thing to go through but you cant induct someone because of a tradegy. Im sure this will ruffle some feathers but its not meant to at all. Jesse was one of my favorite guys to watch race, he drove as hard as he could each time out. I just feel that the Hall of Fame is for drivers who have accomplished alot across the country over alot of years. Sadly Jesse wont have that chance and if he did who knows what the future would of been for him. RIP Jesse you will never be forgotten.

I'm just glad you're opinion doesn't count....'cause its shit. In case you couldn't tell, this post is for those who SUPPORT inducting Jesse into the HoF....you want to create a topic "Jesse Hockett NOT for the NSCHoF", go ahead....please don't post on here again unless its in support of Jesse.

Jesse Hockett was a hall of fame caliber driver/person and deserves a place alongside those already honored but "rules is rules" and all inductees are required to have been born at least 50 years ago - so, as much as I and his many fans and family desire him to be included, we've gotta wait, just like so many before have done. I have proudly cast my vote for Jesse in the last two or three annual polls and I will be proud to do so once again when he becomes eligible for induction (if I'm still around to do so). Those who have been, and will soon be inducted will be proud to have him join them in the prestigious group. They are no doubt proud that Jesse is knocking at the door after continuing the proud traditions of the sport that they gave so much to pioneer. I certainly regret that I won't be seeing him race at Knoxville in two weeks. We had planned our trip to include a stop at Double X to watch him in action on the way home. I am one who really believes that inductees should be able to receive and enjoy their induction. Unfortunately, we weren't given the choice this time. Jesse Hockett should enter the hall posthumously - that's my opinion and I think I'm safe in assuming that the majority of readers of this post agree. In the meantime, let's continue to support the hall of fame and honor its inductees.

Tbird4vkcc does it make it a little less of an honor to make it in if it is not by the rules?

I didn't say anything about the "rules" or "guidelines" the NSCHoF has to abide by....I/we all will respect that for what it is and understand the fairness and integrity they have to keep. My response to post previous to yours was that the other user was basically saying Jesse shouldn't be inducted, and thats not the purpose of the tread here....to respond to your comment, quite honestly, no....it doesn't make it less of an honor. If anything, it may make it more of an honor....the fact that they would bend the rules/regulations to honor jesse and induct him into the HoF would be awesome. My only request is that if people are not a fan of Jesse or a fan of him being inducted into the HoF....just don't post on this thread, and again, if those are your feelings, start your own "Jesse Hockett NOT for the NSCHoF" thread....

RRLugnut...

The Sprint Car HOF is already loaded with inductees who were primarily regional stars. Just look at the list on their website or Wikipedia. Many of them never toured the country or followed a national series. I do feel all of the inductees deserve to be in there. Not wasting half of your life running up and down a highway has no bearing on the caliber of racer you are.

Now, how many of the current inductees had won 130 features by age 26??? How many of them won in the USA and Austrailia? How many won winged and non wing? How many won CROWN JEWEL races in Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Arizona & California. Oval nationals, Ron Shuman Classic x2, Ultimate challenge, Ronald Laney King of the 360's, Western World, Last Race at Manzy, 2 USAC features in one night in Pennsylvania...the list goes on and on and on...

If someone with those stats is considered a "REGIONAL RACER" then I guess Nancy Pelosi is a "Local Politician"????

V8j......

The rules for induction are also on the website.... someone who is deceased is eligible 6 months after their death regardless of weather or not they were born 50 years ago. Robbie Stanley was born in November of 1967 and inducted into the HOF 38 years after birth in 2005.

Once again i repeat... EVERYONE ALREADY INDUCTED DESERVES TO BE THERE...

And once again I will say the Hockett being inducted is a no-brainer. The stats by age 26 speak for themselves. The stats compared to some current inductees speak for themselves. The versatility, the personality, everything that was or is Jesse Hockett is HOF caliber....tragedy or not.
