Come on America, enough is enough. The guy has a comedy/satire show and he makes fun, takes shots at and generally goofs around and the media is treating him like he should be drawn and quartered, sheesh! Al Sharpton with his past has the audacity to demand he be fired, what a hypocrite! Has/Is not being politically correct come to this? I think an old phrase from a pretty well known book makes the most sense here; "Let ye' who has not sinned cast the first stone". Take It Easy...

PS Don always struck me as the kinda guy that would like sprint car racing, he would certainly fit in more with our crowd than the NASCAR cronies....

way too many PC people in this world.

MLK would roll over in his grave if he knew how Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have acted, claiming to be following the goals of the late Dr. King.

I agree with you singlefile. I get a ton of US stations up here on my dish and MSNBC isn't one of them. I just hate the PILING ON that is happening right now, literally. I have the Rutgers news conference on right now and you would have thought IMUS murdered half the team with what is being said, unfrigginbelievable. It is more of the inferiority complex that Rutgers has after being trounced by Tennessee, dressed in white, lead by a white coach methinks. It's okay for all the crap that rap speaks where those expressions are everyday but let a white guy say it in jest and it's time for a crucifixion. enough is enough. Take It Easy....

PS Don IMUS was the first man on TV to bring up the lack of effort to help those in New Orleans and he also questioned whether it was race related, doesn't sound like something a racist or bigot would do....

Agree.

Imus was wrong but geez...you would think he murdered someone.

finally we agree on something...now dont go changing your mind for dramatic effect!

IMUS has the best ratings of any show on that miserable network...Chris Matthews and Olbermann have less viewers nationally than most small cities. dismal performance in the Neilsen ratings every week.

MSNBC would be out of business if were not subsidized by Bill Gates and the crappy operating system on nearly every PC on the planet.

Actually even though its still called "MSNBC" Microsoft is no longer part owner. I heard this at some point...I'm too lazy to find a link LOL. I guess its not that important anyway.

First off, I have no problem with BET, National Black Coaches Associations, Black Journalist Societies, etc... people can form any type of group they want. But I dont understand why minorities want to form these groups when IMO it keeps people segregated.

Here is what bothers me: We all know that if someone started a White Coaches Association, White Journalist Society, etc... they would be labeled as racist and be called to disband. I can't find a good answer as to why the double standard.

The purpose of the civil rights movement as laid out by Martin Luther King was to eliminate segregation and discrimination based on skin color. Why would any minority themselves want to continue doing so?

I agreee with most of you on here. I believe that Jackson and Sharpton have put race relations back 20 years and have done little to help. Check out this article by Jason Whitlock, very good points.

Let's compare the Duke Lacrosse players who were wrongfully accused of rape, sexual battery and kidnapping and they have to face this for the rest of their lives.

The girls, who were wrongfully disrespected, were called a bad name. They will be glorified by the words in one sentence.

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me.....

Sharpton and Jackson are the biggest racial dividers in this country, next to Louis Farakan of course, who openly bashed the Jewish people....

Damn, MSPN and me agree on something too, the Wings in five over Calgary...

Calgary in an upset, ANAHEIM to play either Ottawa or Buffalo in the finals and Atlanta to beat a couple of New York area teams. We have four games on here tonight, I hope they're not as boring as the regular season, a man can hope, right? Take It Easy....

PS NBC has the Ottaw-Pittsburgh game on Saturday afternoon so the CBC will be bringing Joisey and Tampa Bay for Hockey Night In Canada, wait 'till the locals find out 'bout that, lmao.....

PPS Something else I found out today that means nothing to most; MY Flyers have eliminated Toronto more times in the play-offs (FIVE) than any other team since they last won Lord Stanley's Silverware (1967), as a rare Flyers fan in this area you have no idea what ammunition that is for me, more death threats from the locals, lmao.....

Imus has been shit canned by MSNBC.

MSNBC's action came after a growing list of sponsors—including American Express Co., Staples Inc., Procter & Gamble Co., and General Motors Corp.—said they were pulling ads from Imus' show for the indefinite future.

Every city has their outrageous FM morning show. Where I live it's the KQ Morning Show here in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro area and I listen every day but kind of half expect some do-gooder to come down on them one of these days.

I didn't hear the details of this IMUS deal but I heard that it involved the term "Ho". Actually, I never associated that term with race but with "ladies of the night" which is something that has crossed racial and ethnic lines for thousands of years. Nobody is more sexist towards women than these rap artists (if you can call them artists) so where's the outrage about that? It seems to me that there are certain religious "leaders" in the black community that will jump on any perceived injustice to advance their personal agendas. They need to show some outrage about the crime, violence and drugs right in their midst, before I'll take guys like Sharpton and Jackson seriously.

Whatever happened to letting the small stuff not bother you like water rolling off a duck's back or sticks and stones can break my bones....? It seems to me that everyone anymore is so d*mn touchy about every little affront that they're losing their common sense. He's a shock jock, that's what they do, nobody has to listen to him. There are a lot more serious things that people should be concerned about.

What about the Duke trio who's names are mud for the rest of their entire lives, man talk about reverse racism, what's goin' on these days? Take It Easy....

Good point... what if there were late night commercials asking for a donation for the " United White Folk College Fund " on TV, do you think that might raise an issue with Jesse or Al????

On this Duke issue, wasn't it Jesse Jackson who said that no woman should have to take her top off to get through college and that he would personally pay for her tuition. I wonder what her is thinking now? How could anybody hold any stock in this guy?

Admittingly, I am posse... Yet despite stepping own my own "posse toes", I thought some of "y'all" could have some fun with THIS one. Can we blame this on Three Mile Island? Or maybe inhaling too many methanol fumes? LOL. How foolish could this DJ be... (well I guess it's been proven). The fellow posse fans are gonna frown at me for posting this. Enjoy!

Pennsylvania DJ fired for repeating Imus’ comments as part of contest

From Associated Press

April 11, 2007

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A radio station fired its longtime morning DJ Wednesday after he encouraged listeners to repeat talk-show host Don Imus' racially charged comments in an on-air contest.

Gary Smith told WSBG-FM listeners to call and say "I'm a nappy-headed ho" for Tuesday's "Phrase that Pays" contest, said Rick Musselman, executive vice president of station owner Nassau Broadcasting Partners L.P.

Musselman said three of the listeners who called were awarded tickets to a NASCAR promotion at a local club.

Station management reviewed a tape of the broadcast of the "Gary in the Morning" show and fired Smith, Musselman said.

Musselman said that Smith was fired and not suspended because he uttered the slur in a premeditated manner, "with full knowledge of the reaction to Don Imus' use of the exact same phrase."

The nationally syndicated Imus was suspended for two weeks by CBS Radio and MSNBC after he called members of the mostly black Rutgers University women's basketball team "nappy-headed hos." Civil rights groups have demanded his firing.

Smith has an unlisted number and could not be reached for comment Wednesday.

jmo but i think there are those out there that want their cake and eat it too. they want to be invisible and treated no different, but then they don't want to loose being able to cry "racist" when it suits them.

a lot of black people want to have a black community within a white community. they want to be different, not assimilate.they want to alienate others. their only identity is that of a people wronged. to truely be united would mean giving that up.just look at the nation of islam for example.

there are so many races that have been enslaved and treated badly over the course of history, yet the blacks are the only ones who continue to use that as a wedge to divide people.

i am not trying to group all black folks into that catagory, but the ones that it does apply to are only hurting things. just stop and think of a united states with no black race conflict. no problems. no fighting. with out that a lot of black people would not have a way to feel important or have an identity. they would just melt into the pot like the rest of us and that scares the hell out of them.

good point T.W.O....

It is unfortunate that the Angel Dust snorting, 100 mph driving Rodney King caused riots, and the poor white guy (I forget his name) that was working and was dragged out of his truck and beaten to a pulp by the rioters, and for what?? No white riots ensued....

I was born in Richmond Virginia and my parents and the neighbors had to buy guns to defend themselves in case the riots came out the subdivision where we lived in the 1960's.

Not much has changed because Toledo mad national news nearly two years ago for rioting in the North Toledo neighborhhods. To see those people looting the stores and setting fires was truly a sad sight. Also they were vandalizing the ambulances and fire trucks that were there to defend them. I should add that this was in response to a Neo-Nazi march that was organized by true racists that were not from Toledo. What I did not get is why destroy your neighborhood, why not ignore the Neo-Nazi's like everyone else does? They just go away without attention.

I guess it just goes to show that change is truly difficult....and just how fragile this society really is...

lol I'm out on this one. what cubic said bout bitch slappin WoO was kinda funny, although I don't think it will happen.

BillW hit the nail on the head. Sharpton, Jackson and the rest are complete f-n jokes. Anyone that talks of present racism is a f-n joke. Those punks can gripe about IMUS and I bet they still think BET serves a community. It is bs to get at imus for this stuff but yet every other hypocritical thing is completely ignored.
