Sydney Australia.
We have been racing a Maxim chassis for the past 5 seasons at one of Australia's fastest and touhest race tracks, Tpcr. our latest Maxim is only 2 seasons old, although a good chassis we have never been able to come to terms with it in the handling department which often leaves you wondering wether the driver cant come to grips with the chassis or he needs to pick up his game.
We have just changed to a new Aust designed chassis, QT (Quick Time) which is also built in China in the XXX factory. Now for us this chassis works, the first meeting out the driver set quick time out of 55 of Australias best drivers but unfortunately mechanical problems ruined the night, we broke 2 motors in two meetings. (ouch)
It is to early to comment on how this new chassis will go but our driver said that it was the only chassis that he has driven that he realy felt good in.
I guess what iam getting at is that there are other products out there that are made in other countries other then the US that are good and can be superior to the top American brand race cars.
We have been told that the QT chassis could be imported to the US in the near future.

How in the world did this topic start out talking about a Mach 1 chassis built by Mark Smith in Camp Hill Pa turn into a discussion about the safety of a xXx chassis??????????????????????????????????This board sounds like an episode from "As the World Turns"

You're obviously the same idiot that goes by NUGS on the Williams Grove chat board. Please do everyone a favor and STFU!

Nope, not the same person.

It turned to what it is now because it was mentioned that Mark won't repair them. Nor will alot of other guys.
Why fix a car when you know upon looking at, you will see how much really is bent?

Hooka60,
I am the owner of XXX. Please send me the name of the racer/team you are referring to. We have NEVER had any reports of any welds breaking on our cars.
If what you say is true, we would like to investigate this chassis. If there is an issue that is putting racers safety in jeoprady, we certainly want to know about it. Being ex-racers ourselves, having many close friends racing our equipment, not to mention hundreds of racers currently racing our chassis; safety is our number 1 priority.
Email me at [email protected]. It will be kept confidential.
Thanks, Mark
|
Mark,
I'm guessing that Hooka60 will not reply to your request, and that he'll continue to hide behind his screen name. He's most likely among those who haven't yet accepted the fact that the economy is now globally based, and poor quality can come from anywhere, be it China, Illinois, or Tennessee....it's OK to have those beliefs, but it's OK to have different beliefs, too...Vote with your wallet and buy what you want.
But typing your issue on a computer produced in China or texting on a Chinese made cell phone or PDA is a bit hypocritical to me....
Just keep on.....keepin' on!
Chuck.....

Wow, numbers don't lie. If xXx has sold a 1000 chassis, they now have to be considered one of the BIG GUYS in the Sprint Chassis building world. As far as sheer volume that must put them right up there with Maxim and probably ahead of J&J. As a matter of fact I bet all the other chassis builders i.e Eagle,JEI, Schnee,Wolfweld, Avenger,ART, Rocket, Mach 1,Lee etc. COMBINED have not sold that many chassis.

Oh I bet they have sold more than that. 1000 isn't alot. If 50 teams buy 5 chassis each thats 250 so I can see were they have sold 1000 or more. Just becouse nobody YOU know run them don't mean there isn't any out there. He didn't say 1000 teams bought them.

I knew when I saw the accusations of XXX breaking in flips it could get ugly.
It was posted in true messageboard fashion... the posts are easy to spot because they usually start with "I done seen this here guy..." or "I heard from someone".
Those 2 opening lines equate to "what I'm about to post is total garbage and untrue."
I agree with one of the posts above that mentioned how this got off-topic so bad... but it keeps Mach1 at the top of the threads... which ain't so bad.
Also mentioned above was the hypocrisy of the people bagging on a manufacturer that outsources their production. It's a global ecomony today, folks.
Also... from your head to your toe, from the front door to your back door at your residence... you are much less American than you realize you are in terms of products you own.
Besides... I'd rather get value vs. subsidize someone's union pay any day of the week. Buy American? I'd rather buy wisely and don't really care where it came from. If XXX is the best product... buy it. It doesn't matter who or where... if it's a good product... buy it. When you get over your grudges... you'll be a lot happier.

I'm sitting here typing on my laptop that is produced with components manufactured in 5 foreign countries and assembled by some low paid dumb shit's in China who are to blame for this $1867.00 piece of US engineered business class technology spending too damn much time at the mfg warranty depot for repairs due to what? DEFECTS IN MANUFACTURING!
I would just love to be able to jump in my car or take a 2 hour flight and ring the necks of the unskilled, uncaring, no quality poor excuse of an employee that soldered the connection and tightened the screws on this Compaq nc series laptop- a business class machine with a 3 year mfg warranty. Hopefully his brother who works at some fab shop down the street welding has more skill and integrity.
It's horrific to think that they (the chinese) manufacture such garbage that is intended for their people to use along with us dumb Americans. It doesn't take much to consider why they haven't started racing Sprint Cars over there.
More to think about- is it conceivable that a race car designed in the US but manufactured oversee's could fail like this PoS laptop? Yep thanks to your global economy!
I didn't't have much of a choice on buying a laptop made in Chinaville (tech standards set by foriegners are to blame) but racers do have a choice about being part of the problem with importing MORE cheap Chinese junk!
BTW- hows the Quality Control on the front axles? Anybody check their kingpin boss inclination for accuracy?
Aside from my thoughts, I think Mark at xxx does a great job diffusing rumours and accusations that are unfounded.

Just saw some pictures on the Williams Grove site from practice in Ocala. Looks like the Wildchild, Jac Haudenschild, has switched from a Maxim to a xXx chassis for this upcoming WoO season.

Saw the webpage you referenced and the armchair engineering report from the guy that bought a several year old second (or maybe more) hand race car frame. I wouldnt xpect the laptop maker to waste their time analyzing problems with my pc if it was bought used and monkeyed with by somebody with a butter knife and tweezers. And I wouldnt expect an importer of chinees frames to invest time and money into a frame that had damage like the one in the story did under the same situation.

I'd like an explanation of what went wrong here and why. This is the result of going off the top of attica, and hitting on the left front corner. The downtube went straight up ripping the halo to pieces. I've shyed away from posting these before, but it seems people should see what they are working with. The owner of the car got the same response via email that the other guy who posted on his page did. This team went from maxim to triplex after this crash. Do I think every maxim is bad? No...but there are apparently a few out there with some problems.

BTExpress, we'll see how one of them holds up when Haud flips. Everyone knows, when Haud flips, he does it in spectacular fashion. I'd really hate to see what this frame will look like if he flips it like he did at Williams Grove last year. Yikes!
Slink51, there were several reasons behind that decision. Money is one.
timcole, was that from this year and is that Duane Zablocki's car?

Attn: Mark w/ XXX, could you please pass along any info. that hooka60 passed onto you. I know we're all curious to the inside scoop he has on this. Or did he not bother to contact you, like most suspect will be the case...

First, can you read? If you can, which I suspect you can, you would have seen that he said it would stay confidential. Thank You, have a nice day.
Secondly, Why would I pass on any info to a man who believes his chassis are nothing that anyone says. People have speculations and they believe them. He says he has done testing, but unfortunantly I don't believe it. There has to be a reason why nobody wants to repair these cars when they are wrecked. I know what I have been told and I BELIEVE what I have been told about these cars.
BTW, did anyone happen to see the Mach 1 Chassis ad in AARN? Frame Repairs(American made chassis only). Again, have a nice day.
